3D Repo's mission is to rapidly modernise the AECO industry by giving all stakeholders democratic access to project data in a secure and collaborative fashion using modern enterprise architecture in the cloud.

3D Repo is a cloud-based platform for Building Information Modelling (BIM) coordination in the cloud which allows users to manage 3D model revisions and highlight potential issues using live collaboration tools.

Instead of architects, engineers, and contractors sharing massive proprietary files in a costly and time-consuming manner, they can simply point their web browser to an encrypted cloud platform in order to examine each project stage virtually.

Great Potential will be amazing once fulfilled

We are using 3D as an environment to host the 4D model to allow people without the software to view and track 4D models

Pros:

The issue tracking features within the 4D model is amazing and the ease of use

Cons:

The load times on the model and the removal of growth simulations and full 3d path animation once uploaded reduces the impact of being able to host the 4d in the cloud

BIM for non-BIM staff!

I received positive feedback from both the project team and the executive directors so we renewed our licence on a project. The new integration with Synchro for marking up 4D models is excellent and really help with communicating, identifying and managing construction risks in their temporary state.

Pros:

The user interface is friendly. Non-BIM staff have greater confidence navigating the 3D environment and do not require specific software installed on their computer. This has really helped with collaboration across our different project teams.

Cons:

We would like to be able to bring in point cloud and 2D drawings into the system, but this is not a limiting feature.

Reasons for choosing 3D Repo

We use both products in the organistion. On this project, 3D Repo was chosen for its integration with Synchro and its Safetybase features. It was very good for helping us with managing risks.

3D Repo is a great collaboration tool.

Fantastic introduction to 3D collaboration, and particularly for contextual risk assessment in 3D.

Pros:

The tool is really accessible and easy to use. It can be easily deployed and provides easy access to rich information. The safety vase function is fantastic for managing risks.

Cons:

The costs is expensive, and should be more competitive. However, iI appreciate that a lot of work has gone into its development and hopefully costs come down in future as more people choose to access it.
