Excellent platform for hackathons

A small team like ours could manage our hackathon with hundreds of participants without sweat.

Pros:

We used the Hackworks platform for our IEEE MOVE-A-THON event around ideas to use technology for mitigating natural disasters. The platform ticked all our boxes during evaluation and when we started using it as well. It takes away a lot of overhead of managing the event and makes it easy to run a complex event. We ended up with around 500 participants, grouped into 109 teams who all submitted an idea. We could spread these ideas over 18 judges for evaluation with a minimum of two reviews per idea. All of this would have taken enormous effort otherwise.

Cons:

Bulk operations on participants could be added to simplify some aspects of participant management, particularly when there are a large number of them.

Pros:

It's UI and ease of use to customize what you want is very well done. It's simplicity is what I like about it.

Cons:

The contact name being right next to the register/leave button is poor placement imo. It makes it look like that is who is signed in. (That is the canonical spot for all software/applications to show your username). Or at least put a label next to it that says "Contact email" or something next to it to avoid confusion.

Hackworks is an amazing innovative platform and is a great solution for a part of our competition, which is why we are planning to implement Hackworks again this year for the competition. The streamlined and organized platform that provides easy access has saved us many problems and we greatly appreciated the work Hackworks has done to create this platform.

Pros:

The best part of Hackworks is the ability for multiple users to be onboarded and have full access to Hackwork's usage without little to no trouble - for our competition, hosting judges that have different computer setups and settings, it was a difficult task to navigate how to ensure judging was streamlined in an organized manner. Hackworks solved this issue perfectly, allowing us to organize our judges into one platform and enable access for all judges with user-friendly experiences.

Cons:

The hardest part was the onboarding of Hackworks - support had to be given at first to help navigate the platform, but once done so, was user-friendly and helped organize judging scores and notes.
