FileRun is a self-hosted GDrive software alternative.

Users can install it on any type of web server (a hosting account, a PC/laptop running a HTTP server on Windows, Mac or Linux), a NAS (like Synology, QNAP, TrueNAS, etc).

It allows users to access their files from anywhere (desktop, mobile app or browser), and automatically keep files in sync between their devices and the server.

Probably, it is the advanced features and user-friendly interface as well as strong integration abilities that FileRun boasts in comparison to its predecessor. It is highly secure, with advanced tools for file management, and reliable in its performance. Pros:

FileRun is a versatile file management platform that offers functionalities for versioning files, managing user permissions, integrating with apps, and mobile access. It supports secure, self-hosted deployments suitable for personal and business use to ensure efficient collaboration and data control.

Cons:

FileRun may sometimes get complex in the setup for nontechnical users, and the large feature set can be overwhelming. On top of that, being self-hosted also means it is in need of regular maintenance and updates, which can turn into a disadvantage when one does not have dedicated IT resources.

Quickly plays audio lectures

File is fast and operates smoothly with a quick audio player.

Pros:

I needed a file manger to quickly play audio lectures. FileRun gets the job done easily and quickly. The interface is friendly and attractive. It also displays the folder structure.

Cons:

Installation requires ion cube loader. It takes some expertise to install it on a VPS.

Reasons for choosing FileRun

The audio player is easier and requires less clicks to listen to a Quranic audio file.

For over 8 years this application has let me maintain my own large file share system perfectly!

My company gets a self-branded file sharing website which we use to distribute files to our clients, allow them to upload large files to us as a guest, and allows us to send large files to anyone with want, all for FAR less than maintaining an account at an expensive online service.

Pros:

Customer Service is FAST and FANTASTIC! Anytime I've ever needed help I just send a quick email and get a response in a few hours. They release updates regularly and have for many years now, and are constantly adding new features and tweaking others to make them work better. They listen to customer feedback and suggestions, and develop with open source friendliness to make hooking into their systems easy too. The free version they offer is reat for small businesses, but the software REALLY shines when you are running 10 or more.

Cons:

The licensing can get a bit expensive, but they have a free version for up to 5 users that helps a lot too.
