Helix Retail is a retail management solution designed for multi-branch and department store retailers including flooring, appliances, furniture, bikes, beds, jewellery any other high-value or specialized products.

The system is optimized to empower professional retailers with the tools they need to maximize sales, inventory, and margin control. Helix's powerful Windows environment is fast, presents a higher level of detail than web-based systems, and allows customization of views to suit the way you work. Helix web apps for phones and tablets are optimized for closing sales on the sales floor, customers signing for pickups and deliveries.

Customer relationship management is built into the sales order and invoice systems automatically prompting follow-ups on the staff member's dashboard and communicating payments made and goods received on their sales. The dashboard system ensures that quotes and incomplete sales are followed up so that customer agreements are met resulting in improved customer ratings. Sales orders for flooring, furniture, and commercial customers and customer backorder sales for appliance stores. Helix handles flooring samples, measures, and quotations. Accepted quotes convert into customer orders, purchase orders can be automatically created from purchase orders from sales orders or via bulk and replenishment ordering. Staff can be motivated to achieve sales budgets using target margin% or gross margin budgets based on 'Floor Cost' or 'Actual Cost'. Helix inventory control methods can be chosen to best suit the type and cost of a product. Serial tracking for high-value appliances, batch tracking for floor coverings and medium-value appliances, and ordinary stock for low-value items and parts. Owners appreciate the 'process framework' that makes it easier to get new staff running and ensure that the agreed process is followed with maximum control and minimum mistakes. ‘One version of the truth’ reporting and accountability have proved to be keys to Helix's success. A single invoice can include products from multiple branches and warehouses with sold labels automatically printed in the remote branches. Each branch can be accounted for as a separate accounting entity which makes Helix ideal for businesses sharing the same resources such as franchises. Helix's unique customer backorder system is effectively a sophisticated negative stock system that allows ‘customer backorders’ to be separately managed and accounted for so that the sale can be invoiced on the day, an individual or bulk order created and linked and the goods matched to the customer invoice, sold label printed and the customer sent an SMS text message the goods are received.

Highly recommend Helix

My overall experience with Helix has been a very positive one. Moving to or adopting new software is always hard, and they offer a lot of support to get their customers up and running.

Pros:

The customer support offered by the Helix team is a highlight, and they don't rest on their laurels - they are open to suggestions and improvements and are always working to improve the system. The inventory system has saved us time and money and given us much more transparency on stock and products going in and out of our warehouse, and the point of sale payment integration is already saving us time. The Helix team also has training videos and a searchable process doc that aids in the training process, which was incredibly helpful to us in the first few months, and if all else fails, they are more than happy to help remotely and over the phone.

Cons:

The quotation setup is a little clunky and is missing some features offered by competitors. I have suggested some improvements to this, some of which have already been implemented.

Helix POS System

Excellent overall experience. Quite a bit to set up but we received heaps of support and has reduced our need for extra staffing. Superb all round product with great reporting for both staff and admin.

Pros:

I really like how we now have everything in one place, sampling, quotes, installation diary to invoicing. It is very user friendly, has great reporting in place. There are continuous upgrades being done and the guys do listen to upgrade requests.

Cons:

The names of some items are not practical but you soon learn them so not a major issue.

Best POS system I have used.

Over all it has been a great experience to find a POS system that is easy for staff to use, yet gives admins and reporters the depth you need to make a detailed analysis on the business.

Easy to learn all of the basics but has lots of depth when you need it.

Cons:

We run remote server currently so sometimes it can be a bit slow on our end, but only because we don't have a dedicated server.

Helix POS and inventory system

overall Helis has been a great system to use for POS , inventory and reports. The windows based system is easy to navigate for sales staff and back office staff and provides a clear and accurate inventory control also. the support from Excellent software has been fantastic. We highly recommend Helix as a POS system.

We have used Retail plus (previous version of Helix) since opening our business in 2006. We upgraded to Helix 2 years ago and have found it a great system to use for our furniture retail business for sales process, stock inventory and accounting/back office reporting etc . The windows based system is easy to navigate and customise to your needs. The Team at excellent software provide fantastic back up and support.

Cons:

Initially it was difficult to attach external documents to emails being sent from helix but this has now been fixed.

Reasons for choosing Helix

UPgrading to Helix provided a much easier to manage system with many more benefits than the previous retail plus system. We have had a great relationship with Excellent software over the past 18 years and they have always provided a great product and great service .

The ability to directly speak with the team that created Helix, and be able to make custom changes for our business. Also, the ability to recommend improvements to the system and the continued improvements they are always doing.

Pros:

The Reporting System is amazing and helps with the management side as well as giving sales team members up to date info. They are also continuously updating the system based on feedback from customers.

Cons:

Learning how to do imports was hard and needs to be correct to get the uploads working but this does make sense.
