They provide videos teaching you how to use the platform, it is user-friendly, and it is able to manage a lot of data.

Cons:

Sometimes there are errors in the logic codes that you just cant solve and the error will keep there for ever

RedCap is a good EDC

Great experience. I find it very organized and easy to deal with. I like that thewre are separated logs for medical history, concomitant medications, protocol deviations and Adverse events. each form has multiple separate pages to add all data in an organized matter.

Forms are well shown and the organization of the outline

Cons:

There is no option of reporting any question as missing answer. Leaving spaces blank can cause confusion of whether this is a missing data can not be collected or can be collected but not done in error.

Pros:

REDCap makes data collection easy. In my work I especially appreciate the option to collect data asynchronously via the mobile app, especially for research assistants working in areas without Wifi or data connectivity.

Cons:

Some functionality is limited in the mobile app which is a con for more complex projects. Our team has sometimes found the data-syncing process to be confusing when multiple users are working on the same project, which necessitated changes to our study flow.

REDCap and Research

I have been using REDCap since 2017 for the purpose of creating surveys to collect data from a variety of populations. It has been growing over the last few years and is constantly trying to improve.

Pros:

I like that I can create data collection instruments for longitudinal projects or even short-term projects. The development of basic surveys is pretty easy and they even have a bunch of additional modules that can be added such as multilanguage tools, recalculating programs, etc.

Cons:

I don't like the way they output the longitudinal data. It's difficult to categorize. I wish REDCap had some more professional development videos or workshops to teach the new modules that they create.

Online Data Management System/Tool for Large Research Studies

Overall, this is a great application that works well with large datasets, including an assortment of options to be included under each survey response item. It allows for easy deployment through the use of iPads if your study allows for that use. This makes the survey administration extremely easy. Additionally, changes can be made to the surveys very easily.

What I liked most about this software was that it was extremely easy to use and ultimately did not require much initial training. It was very easy to amend certain surveys and data collection tools, and also very easy to export data in a variety of ways for ease of data analysis.

Cons:

Features that would further improve this software would include a feature that allows for graphical images to be produced based on select data that is highlighted at one particular time.

Pros:

You can track participant visits and see who has entered data if a query was to arise which saves so much time. The export function can specifically export certain data sets making it easy for data analysis. The fact that each form can be locked provides us with an extra layer of protection of our data.

Cons:

It would be good to have an app for iPads or tablets for easy lab use.

RedCap for Research Recording Surveys

Overall, RedCap is a respectable survey platform. It is user friendly, and manages and stores data well.

Pros:

I like that RedCap is very simple to use. It does not have a learning curve for users, and the platform is very straightforward. I use it weekly to track responses related to research interview experiences. I like that you can copy and paste the survey link to distribute the form. The link can be used in many different messaging media, such as text message and email.

Cons:

I wish that there was a better way to create a trigger for links to be sent, or continuous links to be shared on a defined timeline. For example, for this project, we have people completing surveys each time they complete an interview. They can either find the original email or message that contained the link, or I can share the link with them, but I wish that there was a way to preload dates in which the link should be shared, that corresponded with the times in which they are scheduled for interviews, so that it was instantly sent to them as a post-interview form.
