Our Analysis of Harvest's Pricing Plans

We've thoroughly explored the features, benefits, and limitations of Harvest's time tracking and invoicing plans to help you determine which option aligns best with your business needs. Users can choose between three Harvest pricing plans: Free, Pro, and Premium. Each plan is designed to accommodate different business sizes and requirements, from individual freelancers to large teams with complex reporting needs.

Free plan

Harvest's Fr...

ee plan is designed for freelancers needing basic time tracking and invoicing capabilities. This forever-free plan provides essential functionality for solo professionals managing a small client base. **Pros:** - **Zero cost commitment:** The plan is completely free with no trial period or hidden fees, making it accessible for freelancers with limited budgets. - **Essential functionality included:** Although free, it provides core features like time tracking, basic reporting, and invoicing capabilities. - **No learning curve investment:** Perfect for freelancers who want to test Harvest's interface and workflow before committing to a paid plan. **Cons:** - **Limited to one user:** The plan only supports a single seat, making it unsuitable for even the smallest teams. - **Project restrictions:** With a maximum of two projects, freelancers with multiple clients will quickly outgrow this plan. - **Basic reporting only:** Lacks the advanced reporting features needed for comprehensive business analysis and growth planning. **Pro plan** The Pro plan is Harvest's mid-tier offering, designed for teams that need to track, analyze, and invoice their time efficiently. It costs $13.75 per seat per month when billed monthly or $11 per seat per month when billed annually. **Pros:** - **Unlimited projects and users:** Scale your team and client base without restrictions on the number of projects or team members. - **Team capacity reporting:** Gain insights into team availability and workload to optimize scheduling and prevent burnout. - **Accounting integrations:** Connect with popular platforms like QuickBooks Online, Xero, and Deel to streamline financial workflows. **Cons:** - **Lacks advanced reporting: Missing profitability reporting features that are essential for detailed financial analysis. - **No timesheet approval workflow:** Absence of formal approval processes may create accountability challenges for larger teams. - **Lacking key security features:** No access to SAML-based SSO (single sign-on) to enable secure, one-click login. **Premium plan** The Premium plan is Harvest’s most comprehensive offering, tailored for teams with advanced reporting and administrative requirements. It's priced at $17.50 per seat per month when billed monthly or $14 per seat per month when billed annually. **Pros:** - **Profitability reporting:** Detailed insights into profitability across clients, projects, tasks, and teams enable data-driven business decisions. - **Timesheet approval workflows:** Formal review and approval processes ensure accuracy and accountability in time reporting. - **Custom support:** Teams with 50-plus users can access guided onboarding and training from a Harvest customer success manager. **Cons:** - **Higher price point:** The increased cost may be difficult to justify for teams that don't need advanced features. - **Potential feature complexity:** Some teams may find the additional reporting and administrative features have a steeper learning curve. - **Team size requirements:** Although the plan includes access to guided onboarding and training, it is only available for teams of 50 or more users. **Free trial** Harvest offers a 30-day free trial for both its Pro and Premium plans. The trial provides access to most Premium features (excluding SAML-based SSO) and doesn't require a credit card to get started. This risk-free approach allows teams to thoroughly evaluate Harvest's capabilities before committing financially. **Special discounts** Harvest offers several discount opportunities that can reduce costs for eligible organizations. **Volume discounts:** Special pricing for teams of 50 or more people. **Educational and nonprofit discounts:** Reduced rates for nonprofits, schools, universities, educators using Harvest in classrooms, and students. These discounts are available upon request by contacting Harvest's support team directly. **Conclusion** After analyzing Harvest's pricing structure, it's clear that the provider offers options designed to accommodate businesses at different stages of growth and with varying time tracking needs. **For individual freelancers:** The Free plan provides an excellent entry point with no financial risk. It offers essential time tracking and invoicing capabilities that can support a solo professional managing a couple of projects. However, freelancers should know they'll likely outgrow this plan as their client base expands beyond two projects. **For small to medium teams:** The Pro plan balances functionality and affordability. With unlimited projects and users, comprehensive time tracking, and team reporting, it provides the core features most teams need to operate efficiently. The integration capabilities with accounting platforms add significant value for businesses looking to streamline their financial processes. **For larger organizations and agencies:** The Premium plan delivers the advanced features necessary for complex operations. The profitability reporting alone can justify the additional cost by providing actionable insights that drive better business decisions. The added administrative controls and approval workflows are essential for maintaining consistency and accountability across larger teams. When selecting a plan, businesses should consider their current size, as well as their anticipated growth. The 30-day free trial offers an excellent opportunity to test Harvest's more advanced features before committing. Additionally, organizations that qualify for special discounts or can pay annually should take advantage of these options to maximize the software’s value. You can select the most functional and cost-effective plan for your unique business by aligning your requirements with Harvest's tiered offerings.

A great tool for time & expense tracking, for teams

5

The customer support is reasonably responsive whenever there's any bugs or questions. Overall enjoy using this to keep track of time and file expenses as a company tool. A little expensive for the individual plan but more competitive for premium vs. other options, so this clearly panders to company signups.

Pros:
It's intuitive and easy to get started using the platform. Keeping track of time is pretty straightforward and there's a decent amount of features.
Cons:
It would be fantastic if there could be different colored tabs. It's black and white at the top, which looks very nice as part of the overall simplistic theme, but it does make it more difficult to differentiate quickly.

Reasons for switching to Harvest

I switched companies; the prior one was using Toggl and the new one uses Harvest.

Pros:
Harvest is pretty intuitive and has a lot of great customization our organization needed for tracking different projects.
Cons:
When adding new users, it can be difficult to make sure they are setup in the right projects if you have a lot of different projects already. It would be ideal if you can copy profiles from one employee to another.

Reasons for choosing Harvest

We are already using Harvest, and the price is right. It also ties into the accounting software we have, so there wasn't a big enough reason to change over.

Vendor Response

Thanks for the kind words! I've noted your request for a faster, easier way to get your teammates assigned to their projects for the rest of the team.

Pros:
I love the way it shows your invoices, and tallys up your numbers for the month, year or set to custom. It's very simple to use and I've been using it for years alongside my business to track time and do my invoicing. It forms professional invoices and makes the process really easy to send to clients. There's also an app, that can be helpful.
Cons:
I would like an easier download process for invoices (at the end of the month), so that I could download invoices all together, or from the invoice list, to click a download button and it just does it. I currently have to go into each invoice to download it separately. I'd love for team members to be a bit cheaper. The cost per seat holds me back from really utilizing it. But great for an individual. There are limited features on the app, but it has been helpful on occasion, would love to see the full features of Harvest on there.

Reasons for choosing Harvest

I think Clockify came after. I considered switching but I had been using Harvest already, and it held a lot of historical information. Plus I preferred the invoicing template. It was much cleaner.

Vendor Response

Thanks for the kind words and feedback on pricing! I also have some good news—it is possible to bulk export PDF copies of your invoices by running an Invoice report and selecting the PDF option when exporting. More in https://bit.ly/441iZBn.

Harvest -Cutting Through the Noise of Time Tracking software

4

I was searching for something different from the usual behemoth of time-tracking software that we've used and become familiar with over the years. I wanted something new—smart and efficient—that would suit a small team while covering the fundamental needs we cared about. That's when I first discovered Harvest. It's overwhelming to think about the sheer number of apps and software options available, and it’s easy to get lost in the process of choosing one. You could almost need a separate suite of tools just for that purpose alone. But once you cut through the noise, you can find something truly great amidst the whirlpool of options. Harvest excels in its simplicity and intuitive design. The interface is clean and user-friendly, making it easy to navigate and start tracking time right away. One feature that stood out to me was the ability to track time across multiple projects simultaneously. This is particularly useful for those juggling various clients or tasks and was one of our requirements.

Pros:
The integration with other tools like Trello, Asana, and QuickBooks is seamless, allowing for a more streamlined workflow. Additionally, the reporting feature is robust, providing detailed insights into how time is spent, which is crucial for billing clients and managing productivity and what not.
Cons:
While Harvest is great overall, it has a few drawbacks. The most significant one for me was the limited functionality of its mobile app. While it works well for basic time tracking, some of the more advanced features, like detailed reporting and invoice generation, are better suited for the desktop version. Depends on what year are you reading this things ofcourse might have gone better. Additionally, the pricing structure might feel a bit steep for freelancers or small teams, especially when compared to other time-tracking tools that offer similar features at a lower cost. However, comparing features alone doesn’t always capture the full experience of how smoothly the software works in practice.

Reasons for switching to Harvest

Needed something new for a small team and wanted to break free from old to get different perspective and new ideas how to improve and grow

Vendor Response

Thank you for your kind words! We're so glad Harvest feels intuitive and that you're getting good insights out of our reports. I've also noted your feedback on our mobile app and pricing for the rest of the team.
