Overall, for the past 35 years it has been extremely underwhelming. Specialty import situations, jacked up investments downloads (gave that up long ago). No undo (really?). Quicken FAQs

  • What are the disadvantages of Quicken?

Some reviews claim that Quicken is not user-friendly. Additional disadvantages may be that it cannot function for double-entry accounting processes and lacks scalability for a growing small business. There is no online full version, so it can only be used on the computer where it has been downloaded and configured. The mobile app has limited features.

  • Can I still use my Quicken without a subscription?

If your subscription expires, you will not lose your data and you will still be able to use it, albeit with limited functions. Certain online features may not be available so users may need to perform these processes manually. Data in the Starter version will be read-only, while upgraded versions will still have read/write capabilities.

  • Is it safe to link a bank account to Quicken?

Yes, because financial data is encrypted. Additionally, IDs, passwords, and banking info are not stored on Quicken’s servers. Users are given several options for connecting to their bank account, allowing them to choose a configuration that ensures secure interaction with their bank.

  • Does Quicken automatically sync with the bank?

Quicken offers four methods for connecting and syncing with your bank account: Web Connect, Direct Connect, Express Web Connect, and Express Web Connect Plus. All automatically sync with your account except Web Connect, which requires a manual download.
