Banyon Data has 35 years experience developing fund accounting software for the public sector. The software is a great fit for small to midsize entities looking to enhance budget tracking and make the overall accounting process more efficient. The base software comes with budgets, payments, check writer, general ledger, project tracking, receipts, check reconciliation, 1099’s, and report writer. Additionally, choose to purchase time saving modules like purchase orders, invoicing, workflow, ACH Vendor Pay, Fixed Assets, Deposit Slip, 3rd party importing, and accrual accounting. All other Banyon Data Software (Payroll and Utility Billing) also integrates with the fund accounting.

Banyon Data Software is installed locally and allows multiple users at no additional charge or license fees. Paid annual support provides updates, toll free help line, screen sharing, and new software versions.

Fund Accounting gets the job done

Overall, Banyon gets the job done for the price. It has its quirks, but it sounds like other similar software's have the same quirks. Customer service can either be outstanding or unhelpful depending on who answers the phone.

Pros:

Out of all of the Banyon programs I utilize, I feel like fund Accounting is the most functional, and stores the most valuable information. I like that all Banyon programs integrate fairly seamlessly.

Cons:

We least like the execution errors and weird glitches, the untimely posting, and the inability for many people to utilize the same program at the same time. My least favorite function of fund accounting is the Project codes, as the information falls off after 3 years, which defeats the point of tracking a long project.

Clerks review

Initial set up was pretty much left me doing it. There was very little help from Banyon. Also, the initial training was terrible. Had to teach myself which caused stress and errors.

Not being able to correct a posting error if a wrong fund is chosen.

Banyon Accounting questionaire

I called Banyon as I had issues closing out the 2022 calendar year. The person who answered the call could not help me, and told me I would have to figure out my mistakes on my own.

Numerous reports that I can provide to my council for review.

Cons:

There is not any training offered at any of our conferences from Banyon. Having additional training on Fund accounting would be and is crucial to this position. Having more knowledge to explain certain documents and functions to my council would be beneficial. Training numerous auditors, deputy auditors and council all at once would be more cost effective for everyone. Having a one on one session at a conference would be great.

I have used Banyon Fund Accounting for many years and find it easy to use and find what I need. I can usually get any technical questions answered right away or within an hour.

Cons:

Banyon runs on Access. I sometimes have troubles with access and then the software closes or goes to a back up or just has to sit and think for a bit.

I really like fund accounting, I have found lots of reports that I use all the time. The customer service is excellent! I never worry about calling and asking questions, they are always more than willing to help.

I found Fund Accounting user friendly. I am able to search through it and find lots of reports and features that are very helpful. It is fairly easy to correct mistakes.

Cons:

It seemed overwhelming at first, but the customer service is so good that I never worry that I won't be able to do something or fix a mistake.
