About ProSeries Tax

Intuit ProSeries Tax is cloud-based tax software designed to help accounting firms manage their tax practice. The solution helps accountants prepare returns, file e-forms, track tax filing errors through diagnostic tools. It also enables them to monitor status and validate return data before it is e-filed with the IRS or state tax department. With secure and scalable access to data from anywhere at any time, ProSeries Tax automates routine tasks during tax season and improves efficiency in daily operations throughout the year.

One of the key features of ProSeries Tax is its wide range of supported tax forms, covering individual, business, and state returns. The software supports 1040, 1120, 1120S, 1065, and many more forms, ensuring that professionals can cater to diverse client requirements. The extensive form library within ProSeries is equipped to handle complex tax scenarios, making it a versatile choice for tax preparers.

ProSeries Tax offers integration capabilities that enhance its functionality and streamline workflow. The integration with QuickBooks allows for the seamless import of client financial data directly into tax returns, reducing the need for manual data entry...

and minimizing errors. This feature is particularly beneficial for accountants already utilizing QuickBooks for bookkeeping and financial reporting tasks. The software includes tools for electronic filing, enabling professionals to submit federal and state tax returns directly through the platform. This e-filing capability ensures compliance with IRS standards and offers a fast, efficient way to handle multiple client submissions simultaneously. Additionally, the system supports direct deposit options for taxpayer refunds, adding convenience for clients. The professional-grade diagnostics feature of ProSeries Tax helps identify potential errors and omissions in tax returns. This tool evaluates returns for accuracy, guiding users through corrections before submission. The diagnostics check adheres to tax law updates and reduces the possibility of audits, helping maintain a smooth filing process. ProSeries Tax also provides client communication tools such as customizable documents and reports, which ensure clear and professional correspondence regarding tax matters. The software allows for easy generation of client letters and summaries, assisting in keeping clients informed about their tax status and any changes in tax codes or requirements. Security is another vital component of ProSeries Tax, with features implemented to safeguard sensitive client information. The software includes secure file sharing options and data encryption, ensuring that sensitive tax data remains confidential throughout the preparation and filing process. These measures align with regulatory standards, enhancing the software's reliability for professional use. ProSeries Tax delivers a variety of essential features tailored for the unique demands of tax professionals. Its support for a wide array of forms, integration with QuickBooks, e-filing functionality, professional diagnostics, client communication tools, and robust security measures make it a comprehensive solution for managing tax preparation tasks.

Pros:
Tax entry is a breeze and couldn't be easier. I love the mfs vs mfj option also like the option to view only forms used instead of drilling down through dozens of forms.
Cons:
Little expensive especially if you have to add more returns at the end. Very costly. Also, returns if any you don't use they do not credit any amount to the following year.

A lot of fields and as someone who does everything themselves, it was a bit time consuming and I didn't love that.

A step above Drake. Lacerte is too expensive. There isn't a perfect tax software but this is a worthy contender especially for the smaller or solo firm.

Pros:
Mostly intuitive with a solid error check. Handles multiple states well. Overall, still a good value.
Cons:
Some states lacking 1041 returns. Need to check states very closely (as we should anyway). Customer support is dwindling as prices increase.

Pros:
I use ProSeries Professional with other Intuit products such as Fixed Asset Manager in my daily work as a tax specialist. It is my long-term favoured tax preparation software for several reasons. Although any professional accounting software has a steep learning curve, I find ProSeries relatively painless to use. It is undoubtedly quicker and easier to use than alternatives such as TurboTax. In my experience, it produces very accurate returns. This ease of use allows me to spend more time where it counts, dealing directly with clients.
Cons:
It would be beneficial for the direction of the ProSeries software if the company were to work on improving the capacity of the online version. There are also some minor user issues, such as the lack of particular worksheets, which force the user back on manual additions, such as W-2 forms.

Pros:
I really liked the ease of use. Switching back and fourth between pages/schedules was very intuitive and easy. I also like the ability to carry forward returns from previous years to keep the important information and data consistent in the records for each client. The software was also up to date on the current incentives and deductions so that made the review process faster.
Cons:
It can be a little pricey, so unless you are doing 100-200 or more returns it might not be for your business. Also I wasn't able to open the same file on two different computers to work with a colleague from a remote location on a client return, that would have been useful in a few situations.

Pros:
The simplicity of Intuit’s interface is one of the reasons why I chose Intuit. It provided simple and easy features that anyone can learn. The document scanning allows a paperless documentation which is a great plus to any software, allows efficient e-filing. It is a very useful software.
Cons:
The worksheets are very limited, especially during tax season. Also, tech support responds slowly to any reported problems, but once they respond, they really get into the problem and will try to figure out the problem.

Pros:
I’m an entry level accountant and ProSeries is probably the easiest way to learn how to do taxes. Very easy to implement and it teaches you a lot while you go.
Cons:
The interface still seems a bit archaic and the database can be quite messy sometimes. Nothing is worse than when you lose info that you need for a client.
