About TargomoAPI

TargomoAPI consists of a powerful portfolio of developer tools for high-performant custom maps and geospatial analytics.

There are three major areas of application:

Create: Users can create custome maps for webapplications, enhance them with points of interest (POIs) and vusualize additional data by adding reference layers to the map.
Analyze: Users can analyze and visualize geospatial data. The Isochrone API lets them visualize areas on a map that people can reach from one or more starting points. The Travel Times API allows calculations of precise travel times to a large number of targets. Other API services let users get fine-tuned, configurable visualizations for complex reachability scenarios, analyze the proximity and reachability of points of interest or generate valuable insights by combining the reachability of locations with statistics
Navigate: APIs in this category get users detailed directions for multiple routing scenarios. It supports various travel modes (car, bike, walk, and transit) and let users find the best route combinations for multi-vehicle and multi-destination scenarios.

Pros:

We rely on the route optimization to create cycling maps for home / office decor, and TargomoAPI has proven to be an invaluable partner in this process. Our customers generate on-the-fly custom maps on our site, and TargomoAPI's speed at processing these complex computations ensures that as an e-commerce business we don't ever make our customers wait while in the checkout process. In short, their data visualization / route optimization has allowed us to create a unique product, while their speed of processing requests ensures we don't lose customers during checkout.

Cons:

Depending on your needs, the initial configuration for an API request can be intimidating. However, the complexity is also what allows so much room for unique customization and interesting use cases.

Very goo product with very good support

Very good product with a very good support. [SENSITIVE CONTENT] my contact at Targomo is very smart in understanding our needs or difficulties, friendly, professional and helpful. Ilalso really like the fact that the API is regularly evoluting, allowing us to think to develop new features.

Pros:

Easy to use (I don't have complaints from my dev team)

Cons:

The main problem I face is about data sources. Exemple on Isochrone maps for cars during peak hours in Paris. Do you use modelled traveled time based on another city with data collected form Here or do you use directly Here travel time data ? Hopefully my clients are not looking at this point too much in details. But I am pretty sure that at some points, it would append.

Targomo travel time isochrones

Pros:

I mainly use Targomo to check out travel time isochrones. I feel that they provide a good variety of parameters to adjust and the public transport feature is quite impressive. Sometimes I need to calculate these travel times areas for a large number of points and Targomo handles this very fast.

Cons:

One downside for me was when starting out, it took me a while to find out how to use it and how to integrate Targomo in my R script. There was some documentation, but for my setup (and as someone quite new with these kind of tools) it was a bit trial and error to get it to work. So perhaps a more 'low level' introduction to this tool would be interesting.

Pros:

Targomo staff was very helpful in helping us write Python code to query their Isochrone API. These queries allow us to efficiently calculate the areas accessible by different transport modes across a large number of cities. Based on manual checks, the areas seem to be accurate across many different cities and countries. The GIS polygons produced are very detailed.

Cons:

Would be nice to be able to calculate auto isochrones using real-time traffic for different times of day.

Excellent product with very good support My contact person in Targum understands our needs very well, is friendly, professional and helpful. Highly detailed GIS polygons were generated which were very helpful to us.
