About ClinicSource

ClinicSource is a cloud-based practice management solution focusing on speech therapy, physical therapy, and occupational therapy that helps in scheduling and documenting the therapy appointments of the patients.

ClinicSource Therapy Practice Management’s scheduler includes billing and electronic medical record, where the patient’s information is recorded in the database and all the claims and invoices against the patient are displayed and can be generated automatically. The mental health practitioners can create notes and alerts on each patient that can be linked to the patient's medical records. This helps the patient to view their medical history at a common location.

The scheduler also helps in booking appointments that can be edited and modified using the drag and drop feature. The appointment reminder feature gives the patient an alert a day before each appointment to avoid a no-show. The Patient can reschedule the appointment in case it is required at their end.

It is priced on a per-month subscription basis. Support is available on call and live chat.

Pros:
ClinicSource is great for maintaining patients' personal info, medical records, insurance, billing, and payment information. ClinicSource gives you the ability to create accounts for the doctor and administrator. The administrator is able to schedule appointments, alerts, and notes according to the doctor needs. You can link Clinicsource to an email or phone to obtain alerts.
Cons:
Unable to obtain deleted patient information through customer service. Therefore, click "SAVE" in each thread to ensure information is saved.

A good platform, but has it's drawbacks

ClinicSource is a fairly good product. They have a lot of add-ons that we don't use because of the price. I think that it requires a lot of start up work to get going. The platform itself goes down/lags not infrequently. It makes things take a long time.

From an administrative perspective, I like that ClinicSource scheduling is super easy. Moving appointments is just a click and a drag. Also, setting up different kinds of appointment is easy.
Cons:
Getting clinical documents OUT of ClinicSource is clunky & cumbersome and time consuming. They do not provide Zip file downloads, so clinical docs must be downloaded (converted to PDF) 30 records at a time. It's awful.

A nightmare!

I purchased Clinic Source services over two years ago with the intention of streamlining my psychotherapy practice. The sales presentation was compelling, and we were assured that any system issues could be addressed through necessary modifications. We were also told that this software was specifically designed to support psychotherapy practices. Unfortunately, these statements proved to be inaccurate. From the outset, we experienced numerous difficulties, including billing problems, a lack of integration between different areas of the program, inaccurate reports, incorrect accounts receivable data, and missing diagnostic codes in documentation. Out of necessity, I personally learned how to create and modify documents, despite not being a computer expert, which required a significant amount of time and effort. Due to inaccuracies in basic documents, the program was not functional without these modifications. The system was exceedingly complex and added numerous steps, which compelled us to hire additional staff to manage the practice effectively. When contacting support, we were often directed to the message board, where if enough users submitted similar requests or issues, consideration might be given. I also submitted a detailed letter outlining our experiences and highlighting that much of the program was not well-suited for behavioral health providers. I requested specific improvements to reduce the many extra steps required to operate efficiently. The company responded by acknowledging that their current platform falls short for behavioral health providers and stated that they do not have immediate plans to address these concerns, but would notify us if they made updates. Anyone familiar with the complexities involved in switching EHR systems understands how costly, time-consuming, and stressful this process can be. I strongly advise against using this program if you are a behavioral health provider. It has been a challenging experience and cost us thousands of dollars and considerable time in efforts to make it work. I am pleased to share that we have now found an excellent EHR system at a reasonable price that has greatly streamlined our practice management. When the company itself admits that their EHR is inadequate for behavioral health, it serves as a clear warning.

Great calendar but slow system.

I became very efficient with it after working with it for a while. However, I utilized many self-learned shortcuts and learned to avoid things that would cause the system to struggle. The slowness and bugs that resulting in lost documentation/time were very frustrating. Overall, I enjoyed the calendar/schedule interface but was frustrated by the slowness of the system and how it slowed down documentation.

Pros:
The ease of managing and viewing the schedule, finding basic patient information for quick contact, referring physician information, and tracking authorizations from the calendar. I liked the readily available text boxes and how easier they were to use along with the "copy forward" option.
Cons:
The consistent freezing of the software during high volume times was a huge problem for being productive as a therapist (almost every Monday, many days first thing in the morning, and often times on Fridays too). This freezing also occasionally caused loss of documentation that required being rewritten (which was greatly frustrating when an entire evaluation was lost). The difficulty/slowness of finding documents that had been scanned into the patient file as attachments. The organization was not great for attachments, and it would have been easier to find things if there was an "expand all" option for the categories. The slowness of modifying the evaluation templates while writing an eval. The evals also start freezing on you if you are copying from a personal template. Not being able to minimize areas that were not going to be used during the eval (so having to scroll past them every time). Also, having to load multiple pages/screens before getting to work on each daily note definitely slowed down the documentation, rather than opening the note and being able to do everything within the same page/screen.

I used ClinicSource as a novel clinician. ClinicSource was the first EMR system I used. At the time, ClinicSource was efficient; however, once I used a different EMR system, I realized how much I disliked ClinicSource.

ClinicSource just doesn't care about Speech Therapy / SLP practices / SLPs!

Really terrible experience. It would be one thing if they cared / were trying at all, but they clearly just were wanting to raise prices and milk users for every last dollar. Even when we had decided to leave, they tried to hold our data hostage.

It served its purpose for the time I needed it. It was frustrating to have to 'email' the families their tx notes. I did not like the simplicity of it as it didn't have any bells and whistles.

Absolutely nothing. Especially from a billing perspective, this app makes no sense.
Cons:
Very slow, times out in the middle of posting payments/adjustments, times out while therapists are writing notes, no ledger for billing, you can write a note in a payment, but can't run a report for the notes. ClinicSource, from a billing perspective, is the worst software I have ever worked with.
