Secure File Transfer has been an easy to set up and easy to use platform for sending secure emails and large files, bypassing the traditional non-secure email platform with file size limitations. Outlook users get a special attach icon that sends the email via SFT

Cons:

Runs on a Windows platform, thought the old hardened Linus platform was for secure

Pros:

user setup is easy. ability to send large files. Notification process works great. Support is fantastic, they always respond quickly and usually have a fix right away.

Cons:

Can be a bit confusing to an end user that is not too computer savvy. Layout of the screens seem to confuse a lot of people.

This software has truly been "set it and forget about it", because it works as advertised and never requires any care and feeding. It's one of the few applications that we have that pretty much maintains itself.

Cons:

We're running the appliance and there are a few things that we have to do at the OS level, such as adding network routes or updating the SSL cert, that I wish we had to ability to do through the GUI instead.

The SFT tool is an intuitive, secure method to transfer files of any size to an external party. The self-registration is a nice feature that allows external users to manage their accounts easily without internal support.

Cons:

Currently, the software does not have a feature for forcing a multifactor authentication.

It works. It solves a problem. And most of All easy to integrate and use across different customer locations without issues.

Cons:

This isn’t a problem of the software. But end user adoption of use is the toughest thing. End user will use the customer platform AMRDEC. Our customers have resisted usage directing end users to use their platform.

Reasons for switching to Biscom Secure File Transfer

At the time we used the dod AMRDEC file transfer site. But a vulnerability was found and they shut it down. Leaving a gap between us and our customers. It solved the problem. But then AMRDEC 2.0 came back online and we lost traction in adoption.

After Years Of Using Biscom, I'm Tapping Out

Pros:

User experience feels like a professionally setup piece of software. Encryption is well setup and provides an easy way to know if and when you've successfully securely transferred the file.

Cons:

Pricing. The switch to a subscription model is absolutely insane pricing. Before it was a chunk and maintenance now it's one big chunk all the time. Admin controls could be easier to implement. Licensing felt a bit draconian. Having to license for external users at different companies was painful. Couldn't just send a file. The person had to create an account on your system which counted against your license.
