Jet Reports Honest Review

been on and off with reporting tools but jet felt… less soul-crushing. plugged into excel like it actually belonged there, not some bolted-on mess. first week was rough (kept wondering why i need another add-in) but once you get the templates rolling, numbers stop being a nightmare. i’ve pulled p&ls for clients in minutes that used to take me half a day. still feels clunky sometimes but compared to the circus before, i’ll take it.

Pros:

direct excel integration (no need to learn a whole alien UI) •scheduling reports without me babysitting •can actually drill into numbers instead of exporting 10 csvs •clients stop asking “where’s the latest version” every damn hour

Cons:

setup wasn’t smooth, needed IT to help me connect the ERP (wasted a morning on calls) •some reports lag like they’re stuck in 2008 •UI could look less like windows vista, seriously •if you don’t know excel formulas you’re dead in the water

Reasons for choosing Jet Reports

power bi had pretty graphs but honestly i don’t have 3 weeks to learn dax just to pull a damn p&l. tableau looked sexy too but felt like overkill - like buying a spaceship when all i need is a scooter. jet just sat inside excel where i already live, click refresh, numbers show up. less crying, less tabs, boss stops yelling. that’s it.

Reasons for switching to Jet Reports

manual spreadsheets were eating hours every week and version control was a nightmare. Jet gave us structured reports straight out of the ERP without rebuilding everything in Excel from scratch.

A very helpful and friendly reporting tools ever.

We can personalize our report based on our needs, it saves our valued time, formula is easy to understand as we can also enhance with excel formula, there are many template of financial reports we can use. The customer support and the account manager are very helpful and fast response, mostly we all are served well. We can integrate with many ERP and data source, also reports can be combine across companies. Imagine we custom report built in, it will cost much more than we purchase this Jet Report license. so yeah, so far, it's satisfying tools for reporting. We can run with schedule and run it in background so it will not affecting our other activities in Excel.

Easy to use as this tool is an add on excel so we can combine with excel formula. Formula really easy to understand. Many source data we can integrate with.

Cons:

The version updates are released quite frequently, so we need to ensure our Jet Reports are regularly updated to stay compatible with the latest versions.

The ability to design any report you can think of in your own format and style is powerful. Ability to transfer your Excel knowledge across is useful.

Cons:

Despite the product being Excel based, the learning curve to become competent with the product is steep. You need to invest the time to be able to extract the maximum amount of value from the product.

Pros:

The system is user-friendly, allowing users to easily grasp the basics without needing prior SQL knowledge. Most reports populate data swiftly, which enhances efficiency. Additionally, the independence gained from not having to rely on IT for data dumps and subsequent Excel modifications is invaluable. Results being in Excel format makes sharing and further analysis straightforward.

Cons:

Mastering the more advanced features can be time-consuming. We've required external consulting to complete some of our more complex reports. Furthermore, large reports can run slowly, especially when connected to cloud data sources.

Jet Reports - The perfect solution to a "simple" problem

I enjoy how customizable Jet Reports is. It allows the consumer to splice and dice the data the way management wants it presented without unnecessary fluff or out of the box reporting constraints.

JET provides great customer support. The reporting tools we have gained has brought us great value for what we paid. We would be lost without our JET reports.

Cons:

There is a learning curve to writing the reports, but the tools within to help write functions is very straightforward. Again, customer service and training helps get you on a great path with reports.
