Fixed Asset Pro is a great solution

Fixed Asset Pro was recommended to me by a colleague, and I would do the same. The ease of use without the hefty price tag was a win win situation.

      Pros:
Fixed Asset Pro was a great upgrade from our old software. I especially like the customizable views that functionally work as reports, which allows me to do the analysis I need to do in a fraction of the time.
      Cons:
I ran into a technical glitch while trying to upload a file that caused some changes to my data once it was imported, but support is working on that.

Reasons for choosing Fixed Asset Pro

Fixed Asset Pro was priced way below the alternatives with the same capability.

Reasons for switching to Fixed Asset Pro

Old software was unsupported and desperately difficult to use.

      Vendor Response

Thank you for your review. We value your opinions. It's good to hear that the custom data using the Flex View Grid helped with your analysis and saved you time.

Overall FAP is much better than the previous program we were using and now that I have it all balanced it works smoothly and the reports are similar to the ones we had so it has made the change easy. The program has all the features we were hoping for, and looking for specific information about an asset is easy to find. The few bugs we ran into were hard to figure out at first, but we still made them work. I would recommend FAP to other companies looking for a depreciation software

      Pros:
The process for transferring the data from our previous program worked really well and made the move easy. FAP is much easier to understand and use than our previous system and it was intuitive to set up. I like the reports that are available and that you can still go into previous years for any balancing issues which our previous program would not allow. I like all the extra information you can add to the assets. The file cabinet is useful for uploading copies of the invoices and all of the user defined fields are helpful for adding more information about the asset and tracking if it was a transferred item or other aspects like that.
      Cons:
It was difficult to get the prior accumulated depreciation to balance. Sometimes it was the same as our previous program and other times I would have to manually calculate the difference. It took a little while, but overall it wasn't too hard to get done. The only other small thing is that when you dispose an item it shows the current depreciation down below and does not give you a description of the branch or group it was originally in to record the depreciation. We do accounting for multiple companies and we were unable to make the files available to everyone over iCloud. However, we just installed them on our own work computers and it still works fine that way.

Reasons for switching to Fixed Asset Pro

Our software is called the AS400 by IBM. We had switched from the AS400 to QuickBooks Desktop and wanted everything to be off of our original software. We had tried using the QuickBooks integrated program but it did not work well for our company

      Vendor Response

Thank your for your review of Fixed Asset Pro. We appreciate your feedback. It's good to hear that the transition from your previous system was easy and it is working well for you.

It is difficult to match your balance sheet and year end totals. so even after you have put in a disposal date the total still includes it. I have tried every available choice on the screen to no avail.

      Pros:
you can set up multiple companies and enter separate information for them all. this is an easier way to calculate depreciation expense
      Cons:
when you sell or dispose of an item it does not fall off of your total and it is very hard to match it up to your balance sheet since the totals do not match

      Vendor Response

Thank you for your review. We value your feedback. Please use the Net Book Value report to tie to your balance sheet as disposed assets fall of this report in the month of disposal. Disposals remain on depreciation reports in the year of disposal because they may have partial year depreciation. Then they fall off the depreciation reports in the year after disposal. I hope this helps.

      Pros:
Great Value. The only system I know of that fits the needs of the small to medium sized businesses at a fair price. The systems provides all the necessary asset tracking, financial reporting and tax calculations that we need for our two manufacturing companies at a very reasonable cost. The software is easy to use which is important as we have very little time to spend on fixed asset management given all the hats we wear.
      Cons:
A recent add was the depreciation calculation check. This does not appear to work. But it fools me every month as I punch it instead of the calculation button to update my depreciation calculations. Kind of annoying.

Reasons for choosing Fixed Asset Pro

The functionality and cost of running the system provide the best ROI.

Ease of setting up an asset / disposing of an asset. The cost of FAP is also very affordable. For small to mid-size businesses the software seems to work well.
      Cons:
I don't like when you have to add something to an asset in another month, the depreciation messes up. We were told we would have to delete the original asset and reenter it based on all costs incurred. If you have to change depreciation methods, it can be tough making sure calculations are correct.

Reasons for choosing Fixed Asset Pro

Pricing for Fixed Asset Pro was in the budget.

      Vendor Response

Thank you for submitting a review of Fixed Asset Pro. We appreciate your feedback. When you add something in another month, Fixed Asset Pro is flexible and there are various ways to handle that. You can change a method without deleting and re-entering an asset. Please reach out again to Tech Support and they can explain the different options to handle those situations.

      Pros:
Everything about Fixed Asset Pro made it the perfect fit for us. We needed something for all our users, at a non-profit friendly pricing point, and with ease of implementation, data transfer, and use. Fixed Asset Pro hit the mark for all our needs and our support was always a few moments away when we had questions.
      Cons:
Fixed Asset Pro meets or exceeds all of our needs. It even comes with a photo repository built-in. The only thing that would be nice to have in it would be a separate equipment inventory tracker, but you could also denote these in the comments.

Reasons for choosing Fixed Asset Pro

Fixed Asset Pro was the only product that not only met, but exceeded our needs and stayed within our targeted price point for a nonprofit software option.

Reasons for switching to Fixed Asset Pro

Our previous software was obsolete and we were down to a single-user access.

      Vendor Response

Thank you for submitting a review. We value your opinions. As you found, one of the great things about Fixed Asset Pro is the ease of implementation for multiple users, transferring data, and overall ease-of-use. For tracking equipment inventory, take a look at the Asset Control screen that lets you assign inventory control numbers and barcode values, assign a Custodian, track the condition and more. Also the Tasks function lets you schedule maintenance and other tasks for specific assets.

      Cons:
I do not like the external reporting feature. There are some standard reports but to build a report with info I want is not easy and I have not mastered that yet. Data can be exported to work with, but would prefer a standard report be set up with the information I want to see regularly. Depreciation expense on the view screen is hard to understand as it does not show current year to date montly, only last year and remaining total.

The customer service was also exceptional and there was a complete user guide and also help offered through email and support when needed.
      Cons:
It does have the look of older software programs but the functionality is not compromised. Function over style is always a consideration.
