About MoneyWorks

MoneyWorks is an accounting software that is available via the cloud or on-premise. It is suitable for all size of businesses and offers four versions. MoneyWorks Cashbook is designed for cash-based organizations, such as nonprofit organizations, small businesses, clubs and societies. Key features include budgeting, general ledger, tax tracking, contact management and item pricing.

MoneyWorks Express is ideal for small businesses with advanced features like accounts receivables, accounts payable, sales analysis and a custom form designer. MoneyWorks Gold includes all core accounting features, plus multi-currency support, advanced inventory management and job costing. MoneyWorks Datacenter includes all of the above, plus a multi-company option. It also offers centralized data management, APIs, remote access and automatic backups. MoneyWorks Now is MoneyWorks’ cloud distributed option with all features included on a subscription basis. Support includes a community bulletin board, documentation and phone support.

Excellent for visual processors and learners

I think once we really get everything set up in our rather complicated situation, which involves two related corporations, we will be able to forecast much better.

Pros:

The feature that impressed me most immediately are the charts shown for each process and element of complex double entry accounting. Those charts make the process much easier, especially for someone like me, a visual processor.

Cons:

The one thing that is most difficult is that there is very little hands on assistance available in the U.S. The one person in my own area, southern California, has told me each time I've called that he is too busy to be able to help. I wish that Cognito would find a way to train someone, somewhere in the world, a good English speaker, who would then become the person available for us, even if they are not actually based in the U.S. One saving grace is that if I contact them directly in New Zealand, I'll get an answer very quickly at about 2 pm, when they start their business day. The second thing is that they could easily provide, I think, a much better set of tools for designing forms. Filemaker Pro is mentioned as a program that is relatable. But Filemaker has an easy to use forms design tool. We gave up trying to use Moneyworks to design our form.

Stay clear of this program, there is much much better out there. Support costs $2.95 Ex GST per Minute. Yep per minute. That is a complete joke.

Frustrating. A complete waste of money. Support at $2.95 Ex GST is a complete insult.

I guess the home screen looks OK. It was easy to put in company data but that's about where it ends.

Cons:

Difficult to use. The others are a breeze compared to this. Can't even get bank details on an invoice.

There is no pair of this software to work in the most beautiful and simple way in the work of daily life. Its reports are always more acceptable. And reduces the waste of time.

Cons:

The good side of it is most noticeable. When it comes to its benefits, its bad side will never be overlooked.

Accounting software - helpful when we had smaller number of transactions

It was one of the first accounting softwares we used and served its purpose, but made us realise that we wanted an accounting software that could integrate with our e-commerce platform. This allowed us to be more efficient as we wouldn't have had to input all our sales transactions one by one.

- Affordable, as it was a one time fee to implement the program as opposed to a recurring subscription model - Easy to navigate and comprehensive: the main page - MoneyWorks always automatically backs up so the latest versions are always saved - Good for financial reporting

Cons:

- It was a standalone software and we did not have the cloud version, so there was no integration with our e-commerce platforms (e.g. Shopify), meaning that every transaction had to be manually input by our bookkeeper. This would inevitably result in some human errors - It was difficult to capture COGS accurately because bills for shipping were not able to be linked to bills for goods. This meant that the COGS would not be able to capture the landed costs of goods

Pros:

We made a switch from AccountEdge and the process of moving from AE to MW was not that hard. Many of my co-workers have adapted very quick. We have not had many issues and we love the intuitive side of MoneyWorks. I believer we will stick with MoneyWorks for quite some time.

Cons:

Since they are located in New Zealand, trying to get support is a bit tricky. We have been waiting for the support team to get back to us for integration between Shopify and MoneyWorks but it is a very slow process

Money Does Work

Now I've seen a lot of accounting software out there and I have to say that this one is simpler to use then quickbooks in my opinion. It allows ease of speed while filling out bookkeeping and accounting information. Worth a buy.

Pros:

Quickness and the ease of use are the words to use here. It is a simple platform that delivers the one thing we all want, results. Compatible with PC, Mac, and the cloud. The free trial is 15 days longer then other simular programs I have seen or tried.

Cons:

The costs are moderate. While you can subscribe to it I would recommend that you look at all your price options on all software before making a decision to buy it. The costs can be steep, but managable.
