Real-time reporting and the feature to break down costs made it quite easy for me to manage during my time using ManageEngine CloudSpend. It assists in identifying the areas of inefficiency and overall better control of the budget.

I found that ManageEngine CloudSpend offered me the ability to understand my consumption and costs in real time at the most detailed level. This enabled me to analyze the spending on specific services, in different regions or accounts to spot wastage quickly.

Cons:

There were some inconveniences when it came to segmenting the projects across many accounts and a few days’ current tracking of costs on complex multi-cloud structures may lag slightly.

The level of detail that ManageEngine CloudSpend offers through its cost categorization by service, application, or business unit was quite noteworthy for me. I would be able better see where money could be cut and where there were wasteful activities that were taking place.

Cons:

It was not very accurate when predicting future expense levels especially when new, huge instances were initiated and may need modification before coming up with more precise quarterly expense forecasts.

Pros:

Checks in CloudSpend let me set specific configurable budgetary limits to enforce and obtain notifications for suspicious activities. This was an effective way of ensuring that we did not over-spend, and that problems were ceased right from the start.

Cons:

I discovered that basic functionalities available in the desktop version were missing in the mobile application. This limited on-the-go changes and adjustments, forcing me to wait for the time I would be at my desktop computer.

Pros:

Through smart tagging and cost center control CloudSpend has helped say specifics of usage of the resources in various departments. It has helped to make better decisions and to be also more easily assigned accountabilities in our teams.

Cons:

One of the drawbacks that were realised during the use of this tool was that the setting up of tags and cost centers was a tiresome process since there was not feature to upload the files in bulk.

It is convenient to analyze AWS and Azure costs in one single application. The forecasting services of CloudSpend have essential features that have enabled us make informed forecasts hence making it easy to budget appropriately for the organization’s needs.

Cons:

Some of the features needed for desktop mining are not in existence in the mobile application, for instance, advanced filtering.

I found it appealing that CloudSpend immediately categorizes AWS and Azure costs to the most precise business unit. I was able to easily link an expense to a project and therefore, analyzing the monthly budget was not an issue at all requiring any integration.

Cons:

Functional problem that I encountered was with the scheduled reports in which some of the reports are delayed in arriving even though it was set for a certain time, thus affecting some of my important finance meetings.

CloudSpend provided me with handy features that allowed me to analyze my cloud costs in details. I received accurate and useful details from the automatic reports including the summary and resource inventory where I could make decision quickly.

Cons:

During the periods of high traffic, there were some instances of slower report creation. This slowed down the decision-making process slightly particularly when real-time information was important for changing the budget.

CloudSpend allowed me to effectively manage the different business units and services associated with cloud spending. This helped to explain which areas were utilizing a lot of resources and therefore the approval of budgets for the expenditures was easily done during quarterly meetings.

During multi-cloud management, for instance when I attempted to add Google Cloud resources, there was not enough support.

Pros:

The cost by service and by region information provided by CloudSpend has been greatly beneficial to me. The automation in the reports and notification of the anomalies of the cloud costs has been helpful in maintaining costs within the set budget in order to prevent cost overruns.

Cons:

One limitation is that the integration with our in-house BI platforms is quite limited.
