Ideals offers on-premise and cloud-based virtual data rooms solutions. It caters to investment banks, legal firms, life sciences, energy, real estate and other large corporations. Primary features include document management, document security, user management, tracking and reporting.

Other features include a spreadsheet viewer, text search, collaboration, data hosting and two-factor authentication. Ideals allows users to create a personalized virtual data room where they upload data in folder structure, invite users and set permissions for them and collaborate with users via the Q&A feature of the software.

It is available in a fixed and subscription model. It is compatible with Windows, iOS and Android mobile phones. Support is offered 24/7/365 via email and over the phone. Other help options include live training, an online help center and live chat. Pros:

I really like the ease of use of managing the documents in the VDR, equally easy is the setting up roles and responsibilities, managing the different parties.

Cons:

I am not happy about securing Excel Sheets, I had to convert to PDF but then you loose functionality.

Great user experice, no issues

I never had issues with iDeals, no investor complained I was using iDeals vs another vendor (it is always a risk if you take a less known name) Great user interface, easy to upload files, modify, control what you share

I it stil la pricey solution especially if you need to run a project on a longer period (eg fundraising)

It was good while it lasted

We were pleased with the platform until they did an "upgrade" which subsequently increased the price. The items they included in the upgrade were not items we would be utilizing but would have to ultimately pay for.

Pros:

The organization of documents, rooms and permissions for due diligence processes made it easy for even those who aren't quite tech savvy. Our contact was helpful when/if we reached out.

Cons:

When downloading files the downloaded file included the location number in the beginning of the document title, this was burdensome when needing to duplicate a room. I would have to download the entire room, rename each document and then go through the process of creating a whole new data room. It would have been much easier to be able to simply copy a data room as it was set. Some of the documents had too long file paths when downloading which would create 0MB files, not helpful.

We actually moved away from iDeals to use FirmEx in June 2025. We had iDeals since around 2020 until the "upgrade" and price increase occurred.

Solid VDR for M&A but pricy

Used iDeals as our sell-side dataroom for a 1-year M&A process. Overall solid platform that handled the core requirements well. File management and security features worked as expected. The upload experience and keyboard shortcuts were genuinely helpful for daily work. Customer support was a bright spot - always responsive when we needed help. However, the inability to click through from logs to files was a consistent frustration when tracking due diligence activity. The pricing structure also felt inflated, particularly for smaller deployments. Good product, but the value proposition could be stronger.

File upload performance was excellent, even with large document sets. Keyboard shortcuts made navigation efficient once you learned them. Customer support was responsive and helpful throughout our year-long M&A process.

Cons:

Major workflow issue: you can't jump directly from the access log to the actual file that was viewed, which slowed down tracking buyer activity. Pricing felt high for our needs, especially the pricing structure for smaller data amounts

Control of Documents, Participant access, customization features, cloud availability, customers' ease of use starting up and maintaining data.

Cons:

It's hard to find the toggles for participants notification settings if you don't remember where the option exists (one place) and what it looks like (it says something different. Also, invitations are sent to recipients junk mail way too often.

The UX is very straight forward - even a toddler could start using it. The basic package we use is also a good value for money.

Cons:

Once you reach a certain data volume it can get pretty pricey fast. Maybe a more staggered approach would be better.

Pros:

One of the key aspects I liked most about iDeals Virtual Data Room is its ease of use. The platform is user-friendly, allowing for seamless navigation and quick access to documents.

Cons:

I have not had any reason whatsoever to dislike anything about the platform. The only thing i could say i would like to see improvement in is the pricing structure which could be more flexible for smaller projects and companies with limited budgets.
