Why did Wicket do this?
Wicket noticed associations were all facing similar challenges. Traditional AMS systems are all-in-one solutions, but one software can't be the best at everything. The modules in an AMS often fall short when stacked against more modern software. Even if users use tools outside the AMS, there are bits of member data segregated in each tool, and there's no easy way to connect all the member data. AMS systems don't play well with others, and connecting them to third-party platforms can be challenging–often impossible.

Let's say they ntegrate the following three tools into the Wicket platform: Eventbrite for Events, Higher Logic for an online community, and WooCommerce for collecting payments. When they log in to Wicket and look up a member, they'll see the events they registered for, the discussions they’ve participated in, and the status of their membership payments. With all this data in one place, users can easily analyze and turn member data into member intelligence. They'll never do manual updates when member data is connected. When a member logs in and changes their address in one system, that change gets sent automatically to Wicket. Wicket will then update that piece of data in any other connected system where it's needed. With single sign-on, members only need one login to access any tools integrated with Wicket. That's right. They'll use the same username and password to access their events page, the online community, and their billing and payment information. Even though these services are all powered by different software, their members have one seamless experience without knowing they're leaving one platform and going to another. Wicket support any billing structure, including traditional dues processed yearly and subscription-based membership models billed weekly, monthly, or annually. Membership Data at our Fingertips

With our old database required us to manual sync our membership data with Mailchimp and our website, in addition to being time consuming, this process also introduced the potential for human error. One of the most recent benefits we have noticed with Wicket is that we are able to offer our 3rd party advertisers increased options to target our members and associates who have expressed interest in receiving 3rd party ads. This has meant additional advertising revenue for our association.

Reasons for choosing Wicket
Personally, I had experience with Wicket at another not-for-profit association and I remember that the overall experience had been very positive. I knew that it would be flexible enough for our needs.
Reasons for switching to Wicket
iMIS was bulky, expensive and hard to use. It did not integrate well with our CMS and did not integrate at all with our email marketing system.
