About Trimble Connect

Trimble Connect is a cloud-based building information modeling (BIM) solution, which helps construction businesses facilitate project collaboration among stakeholders in real-time. Administrators can assign or review tasks, define user groups, configure access permissions for team members and monitor project costs and maintenance requirements.

Using Trimble Connect, general contractors can share, organize or store documents and construction drawings in a centralized library. Engineers can view data in multiple dimensions, communicate with team members and perform quality inspections to resolve issues before construction. Additionally, organizations can track the progress of projects via status updates and file versioning capabilities.

Trimble Connect comes with an application programming interface (API), which helps businesses integrate the platform with various third-party systems. Good BIM platform

Decent software, unfortunately it has substitute freeware BimSight as a paid version with a bit more functionality.

Good tool for managing 3D, drawings and team coordination

Overall, my experience with Trimble Connect has been good. It helps keep drawings and documents organized and makes teamwork easier. Once you spend some time using it, it becomes a reliable tool for daily project work.

Trimble Connect is easy to use once you get used to it. It’s very helpful for sharing drawings and files with the team in one place. Everyone can see the latest version, which avoids confusion on site. Being able to access files from both the office and the field is a big plus.

Cons:

At first, it can feel a bit confusing, especially for new users. Some tools are not very obvious and take time to learn. It can also be a little slow when working with large files.

This software will only work in you have an active internet connection

Fantastic software but no good if I cant use it even if its installed on my own PC.

Pros:

I can clip out small areas of the BIM model and export to the Trimble TSC5 survey controller.

Cons:

After installing the desktop version , your will work out that the software wont run unless you have an active internet connection. If you need to get some critical information out of the BIM model then you are going to have a problem.

Reasons for choosing Trimble Connect

The project im building has been designed in BIM. There are no CAD files to upload into the controler so I have to use Trimble Connect. There is no alternative. If these BIM models could be exported to IFC then there would be more freedom

I like trimble connect's interface as it can identify issues such as clashes and buildability of the structural steel

Cons:

One thing that they need to improve maybe is how to measure objects. They should also add the option to measure center to center of an object.

Trimble Scam

Appalling No notice when renewal was due, exceeded 30 days and threatened with court action when I had not cancelled 30 days beforehand - no renewal notice 30 days before renewal date though - you could call it theft but apparently its legal. Would not recommend to anyone and advise anyone I meet going forwards to avoid at all cost!

Make An Easy Task Easier

Making models in Sketchup is something can be considered as easy task. Having Trimble Connect make the works way more easier because it has a large scale of libraries with so many models, extensions, and much more inside.

The model library. I've been using Sketchup and Trimble Connect for more than 2 years, and each time I'm in a rushing project, it helps me much to get my works easier.

Cons:

It depends on internet connection. It's not every time I work in the grid, and for some reasons I can't connect to the internet on my working sites and makes the software unusable.
