About DataTako

DataTako is a business intelligence platform designed to enable organizations to share Power BI reports without requiring viewers to have Power BI Pro licenses. It supports various business needs, allowing secure distribution of dashboards to employees, clients, or external partners while maintaining brand consistency.

The platform integrates with existing Power BI environments and offers white-labeling features such as customizable domains, logos, color themes, and login pages. It uses Microsoft Fabric and Power BI Embedded technology to ensure data security, allowing reports to remain within the original Power BI environment. Features include the ability to embed reports in other applications, support for multiple report types such as dashboards and paginated reports, and tools such as bookmarks and scheduled emails.

DataTako helps us deliver our Microsoft BI reports to all employees at a very reasonable price

We were able to set up DataTako quickly without any external help, including integrating our own corporate identity for login, look and feel, as well as employee communication. It truly delivers what it promises - at a very fair price.

Pros:

With DataTako, we can provide all our employees with daily updates on their individual performance at a very reasonable price - something we wouldn’t do with Microsoft. Since we started using it, the solution has improved a lot, and the support has been outstanding. The DataTako team is always available for questions and ideas, and they go above and beyond to keep us happy.

Cons:

There are still some possible improvements, such as enabling login via SSO, but DataTako is open to working on this and keeps us updated on the progress.

Scalable Power BI report distribution for agencies

DataTako made it much easier for us to distribute Power BI dashboards to clients without the hassle of guest accounts or endless license management. We branded the portal in our own style, pointed our domain, and rolled it out to clients with minimal effort. The unlimited-viewer model for a very sharp price per user has been a big win, especially when dealing with clients that have larger teams. Security and access control are well covered, and embedding into client apps is a nice extra option which we use for several customers. Overall, it fits perfectly into our workflow and has become the default way we deliver BI to clients.

Pros:

What I like most is that I can roll out fully white-label client portals under our own brand. Custom domain, logo, and colors. It really looks like our platform, which is exactly what we want. Another big plus is that we don’t have to worry about buying individual Power BI licenses for each viewer. Data stays in our Power BI tenant, and we can just invite as many client users as needed. Security is solid with user groups, RLS, and support for SSO/MFA, which gives us peace of mind. Onboarding was really fast. We had the first clients up and running the same day.

Cons:

It’s focused only on Power BI, which works for us, but if a client uses another BI tool we still need separate solutions. Figuring out the right capacity setup also took a bit of trial and error at the start. And while the usage analytics are helpful, I’d love to see more detailed insights since we manage many different clients.

publishing PBI Reports to a bride range of users was never easier while not need to add them into your O365 organisation

Cons:

setting up everything takes a moment to make sure all permissions for your organisation are in place, but the guide is good so it was not as difficult as i thought it would be

Cost-Effective BI Sharing

My overall experience with DataTako has been very positive. The platform has made it much simpler to share and manage Power BI dashboards, especially for teams that need to collaborate or provide access to clients. I found the setup process straightforward, and the user interface is clean and easy to navigate. Whenever I had questions or needed support, the customer service team was quick to respond and very helpful. DataTako has helped us save on licensing costs and made our BI workflows more efficient. Easy to use, very fast to setup and inviting customers was easy. I was setup within probably around an hour if you include whitelabeling the portal. After that the management of dashboards and users is very straightforward.

Cons:

Not all the guides they posted matched my particular situation but they fixed it via chat. It was mostly around white labeling the portal and that was easily fixed. Would like some more options for that but it is good enough for now.

Van Excel-ellende naar strak, white-label dashboard

Ik heb DataTako ervaren als een verademing vergeleken met het constant schakelen tussen tenants, VPN’s en remote desktops. Binnen enkele uren had ik mijn Power BI-rapporten volledig in eigen huisstijl en onder mijn domein staan. Mijn klanten vinden het super eenvoudig in gebruik, ik geef veel minder support en de dashboards zien er een stuk professioneler uit. Kortom: probleemloze migratie, enorme efficiency-winst en een platform dat me moeiteloos laat opschalen.

Echt white-label onder eigen domein: alle rapporten staan op wegmetexcel.nl, geen “powerbi.com”-URL’s meer. Geen gedoe met infrastructuur: rapporten lokaal ontwikkelen en één klik op ‘publiceren’ – klaar. Strakke, gebruiksvriendelijke interface: klanten zien alleen wat ze nodig hebben, zonder overbodige menu’s of opties. Snel en soepel onboarding-proces: 30-daagse proef, persoonlijke begeleiding en bestaande rapporten in een paar uur gemigreerd.

Cons:

Korte proefperiode van 30 dagen: je moet wel even tijd inplannen om het platform écht goed te testen.

Fantastic product

DataTako is really easy to use and looks extremely professional. I was quickly able to share a client’s dashboard, add users to report and have it looking very professional using their logo and branding. Compared to Microsoft Fabric, DataTako is a breeze to use.

Cons:

There’s very little not to like. I could be wrong but I don’t see the ability to have different branding on seperate reports, in the event that I wanted to host reports for various clients each with their own branding.
