About Safety Champion

Safety Champion is a cloud-based solution that helps businesses streamline and manage health and safety processes across the organization. It enables users to report incidents online, send auto-generated notifications to all stakeholders and define workflows for further investigations.

Safety Champion enables administrators to conduct workplace inspections using checklist forms with separate sections for users to record comments, photos, file attachments, corrective actions and time. It provides users with configurable health and safety manuals and customizable templates/documents to maintain records for internal policies and procedures. Additionally, businesses can build an employee database with information such as emergency contacts, training documents, certifications and more on a centralized platform, facilitating quick data access.

Safety Champion allows users to track and monitor expiration across internal and contractor insurances, registrations, licenses and certificates. It is available for free and, on monthly/annual subscriptions. Support is extended via phone and email.

Safety champion review

Safety Champion is really easy to use. It’s quick and efficient. I like how simple it is to complete incident reports and track safety tasks for clients. The layout is clear and straightforward, which makes it easy to find what I need. It saves time on paperwork and helps keep everything organised. Overall, it’s a great tool for improving safety management and staying on top of reporting requirements.

What I like most about Safety Champion is that it makes it easy to complete and submit incident reports for my clients.

Cons:

While Safety Champion is great for managing incident reports, I do request past reports from my manager for this

Great System for businesses to elevate worker buy-in

Very positive - I have been involved in multiple businesses over my career in safety and compliance roles. This has given me insight into a number of different platforms. While no system can deliver everything, Safety Champion captures the most important features to ISO compliance and operational usability and presents them in a user-friendly way.

Pros:

User Interface was a real selling point for workers when training them on the platform. Being able to present someone with an intuitive system that can be accessed on mobile or tablets etc. really increases the uptake.

Cons:

Improvement into the linking of newer modules is still under development. Once the system can link a reoccurring inspection to something like a piece of mobile plant (Risk assessments etc.) the platform will be faultless for my intended uses.

Reasons for choosing Safety Champion

At a previous business I made a recommendation to utilise Lucidity due to the business wanting to explore an allrounder over a specialised product. The issues this created were fatal in the successful integration of the platform (lacked easy user interface, difficult programming and rollout of modules etc.) Had the business rolled out Safety Champion alongside a worker Compliance platform like LinkSafe, they would have had an improved outcome.

Excellent customer service provided. [SENSITIVE CONTENT HIDDEN] are exceptional professionals and provided an outstanding service. The software has some opportunities for improvement. The reporting module cannot be tailored to our needs and end up with charts that are not as relevant for a report to upper management for example. Inspections using the App are really good and allow a quick paperless inspection report with possibility to add photos. This was a game changer for us. The Dashboard shows all chemicals and certificates even that they are not close to expire. These could be on their own modules. On Report module, the pizza type charts only show the value if you hover the mouse over the chart. It does not show the value when printed (pdf). The inspection templates are always associated to a grade system. There should be an option not to use grades. The incident investigation report shows Safety Champion logo instead of Harvest's when printed (pdf).

The support team is extremely professional and helpful.

Cons:

Dashboard - The Dashboard cannot be tailored. I had the impression we could customise the Dashboard during the presentations. I'd rather see other HSE indicators on the dashboard such as Incidents and Inspections. Actions - Actions should be closed out by an approver, specially related to audits. The system doesn't allow to have the action closed by a person and approved by another person. Same for Incidents. Compliance - The Compliance Module doesn’t allow us to include a name or title when adding to the system. We are using the “Reference No.” space to inform the certificate’s name. In the Compliance Module is Ok to find the Certificate as you can see the title on the reference, but the task cannot be signed-off on the Compliance Module. On the dashboard the item can be signed-off and the name or title is visible, however the “Name” relates to the Classification and Sub-Classification. The “Reference No.” where the Certificate’s name is, it is not visible, so I can’t find the right certificate as they all look similar. We could add the title to the space “Detail”, but it wouldn’t’ be visible on the Compliance Module. App - Records of Inspections, Incidents cannot be accessed using the App. Notifications - Hard to set up. Notifications are sent to people with the same profile but from different workplaces. Difficult to tailor the notifications. Too many set ups - worker user, user, worker group user, organisational user, super user... No more space to write here...

Cons:

The Investigation does not allow enough opportunity to tailor the response review of an incident. If this was enabled, it would better assist in developing the safety culture to focus on improving the level of controls

Simple yet Effective

The user interface is simple and user friendly. The app allows for staff to only see what is due and assigned to them rather than all within the company. The availability to upload all incidents is extremely helpful as any and all information can be uploaded with ease. The availability of customer service being prompt when help is required makes life a breeze.

The ease of use for staff to follow and manage all WHS and safety guidelines as per company and industry standard guidelines. The ability to record as little or as much information as necessary is very useful for any incidents or reports. The availability for contractors to be a one-time user within the system makes all WHS safety procedures protocol very handy.

Cons:

The notifications for the app do not work all the time and staff are unaware that their assigned tasks are due for completion. Unfortunately, this can make staff frustrated when HR follow up continuously which in turn turns people away from wanting to use the app.

WOW, that's an amazing portal
