Favorite screen capture tool

I've used Snagit just about every day, almost since Snagit first came out. I've used it at several jobs. It's really easy to use and super convenient. It's my favorite screen capture software.

Pros:

I absolutely love Snagit. It creates high resolution screen captures that I can easily copy and paste from anywhere to anywhere or anyone. I use it every day or just about everyday.

Cons:

Just the scrolling window capture. It rarely ever worked correctly. Lately i have the option to use it, but it doesn't work at all. It's only one feature, but it was a great safety when I just filled out a long form and I wanted to save my answers before submitting in case things didn't submit correctly. I would use it for other reasons, if it worked.

The powerful package to encourage solutions and training of users!

The ability to create training, job aids, documentation with rich and vibrant imaging and create logos has actually made it fun to use.

Pros:

the ability to install and use quickly is the best The simpleness and power of the features provided for screen capture, recording, video recording and even mocking up a new process is unbeatable, I have never used another tool that was this powerful, feature-rich and inexpensive at the same time.

Cons:

There were cases where the program would freeze and then quit, but some of that had to do with my workstation. It does not provide the track recording similar to Camtasia, but it is intended to be a quick to publish short video.

Reasons for switching to Snagit

Paint 3D did not have the abilities that SnagIT offers Photoshop was too expensive and overcomplicated the process

Frustrating!!!!!!!!!!! When You need the program, it stuffs up at the worst possible time

The old versions were great, but the new ones have some sort of bug in them and don't work

Cons:

I can't get it to last more than a few captures before it stuffs up. And I have to reload the program. The capture goes into the editor as a thumbnail but does not go onto the main screen The help desk people a hopeless

Mission Critical for Our Business

I've been using Snagit for years and it's only gotten better! I insist on having it whenever I'm working on a client contract and it's never let me down.

Pros:

I use most of the features in Snagit on an almost daily basis. The ability to mark up my screen caps with so many options is really nice, and the media library feature helps when I return to an editing session I started days ago.

Cons:

A bit spendy, but in the long run for our needs, it pays for itself.

I have subscribbed out of my own pocket for years now, I was recommended it by a colleague at my old job and yeah its been great ever since. The updates are also consistent and usually have good changes.

Pros:

I like that it is easy to install and use, the help videos are also really useful. I find it works much more reliably than other options and has more features even if I don't always make use of them.

Cons:

Some of the features don't work that great ie. the scroll feature sometimes does weird stuff. I also wish I could reduce the side of the dock. I like a minimalist desktop experience and having this massive thing pop out is jarring it is just personal preference.

FYI it was none of the ones on that list I can't recall it now. I switched because I left that job and the cost made no sense when thinking about the functions it offered.

I love how fast and easy it us. I use it daily. When I don't have it installed on a machine, that machine becomes so much less effective.

Cons:

The UI is sort of Windows XP. It works, that's all I care about.

Reasons for choosing Snagit

I've been using it for years now. Other products don't sit in the background the way snagit does. I don't need to see a loading screen everytime the computer turns on. Just be ready to record stuff when I need it. Snagit does all of that.

Good product. Please add 1 feature

Great product because it is quick to use, very helpful to share with colleagues to improve efficiency, and is a reasonable price. If it were just a little less expensive, we could justify it be automatically added to dozens of our other employee to use.

It is quick and easy to take screenshots and to mark-up and make labels.

Cons:

Please add this one function, and your product would be amazing... I know how to tag each image, and how to search for pictures with those tags. I wish your product could filter and find all the images that dont have a label, so I know which images are missing labels so then I can tag it. Also, I wish the editor function would list the images and show which tags are on each image; this would help me tremendously

Microsoft Snipping Tool.... Snip & Sketch is absolutely horrible. Impossible to save, tag, sort, filter, sift, markup images. Clunky. Complete pain.

This tool has been priceless for the last 10 years

I’ve used it for 10 years and honestly, it has been excellent and I personally have never had a single bug or issue with it for my use whether I was using Mac or Windows. And it’s exactly the same on Mac and Windows so I don’t have to transpose commands.

I can’t imagine ever working without snag it. It’s better than the free things that come with macro Windows. It’s not only simpler, but it’s also designed to take smaller sections of a screenshot, which is a lot easier to diagram and give a step-by-step procedure then trying to show a whole screen and mark it up with numbers.

Cons:

I wish the Mac and PC Came together so I didn’t have to buy one or the other. I may be wrong on that. I don’t recall because I only use a Mac but whenever I have a new client, I insist that they buy a copy of snaggit. I always just moan “ARGH” when I hear a client say why don’t you just use the clipping capability of Windows?

Because snag it was 100 times better and more useful and thoughtful.
