About Zenoss

Zenoss is an AIOps platform designed to help businesses in the healthcare, finance, IT and other sectors analyze streaming data and events across different environments to optimize application performances. The machine learning-enabled tools allow administrators to detect and analyze the root cause of anomalies.

Managers can evaluate issues regarding the service health of systems across infrastructures to prevent IT disruptions. Zenoss allows teams to receive notifications regarding faults in applications, consolidate tools and utilize resources across stacks. Additionally, supervisors can view relevant resources and connections based on time periods to analyze dependencies.

Zenoss offers an application programming interface (API), which lets businesses integrate the system with several third-party applications including Moogsoft, Slack, Zendesk, CFEngine, Ansible, Datadog and Splunk. Pricing is available on request and support is extended via knowledge base, forum, video tutorials and an online portal.

IT monitoring and analytics platform for infrastructure, applications, and cloud

Zenoss really helped us understand our application performance, especially the poorly performing applications.

Pros:

Zenoss has been around since 2005, so they have a wealth of IT monitoring experience and background. They first started making waves as a VMware partner and have since evolved to focus on cloud and even containers. The breadth of their offering is quite vast and the new Zenoss Cloud offering is especially good for smaller companies who don't want to deal with infrastructure. They also offer both agent less and agent based collection (collects and statd), which is refreshing. Since containers are the new orange, we get support for Docker and Kubernetes, along with AI-enhanced machine learning for data ingested.

Cons:

Previously it was a bit heavyweight in terms of the deployment but Zenoss Cloud obviates this concern. Difficult to do initial pricing comparison, you have to request a quote directly from their sales team. You also can't just download their software and take it for a spin, you need to engage with their sales team to get a demo or trial of the software.

Zenoss is excelent for developers

Excellent, since I started using Zenoss, it is no longer necessary to invest in several infrastructure tools that only served a specific purpose.

Zenoss helped me unify all my monitoring tools, and it also allowed me to add custom scripts, something I could hardly do with other tools, especially those from HPE, IBM, etc.

Cons:

They discontinued the public forum, which helped you understand how to declare certain variables and integration topics.

Comprehensive monitoring, Zenoss allows you to monitor physical, virtual, and cloud networks, providing a complete view of your IT infrastructure. Intuitive interfac, It offers a simplified dashboard that avoids overloading the user with unnecessary information.

Cons:

Learning Curve, although it's powerful, it can take time and experience to set up and take advantage of all its features. Cloud Dependence, cloud focus may not be ideal for organizations that prefer on-premises solutions.

Comprehensive Monitoring: Zenoss can monitor a wide range of IT components, including servers, networks, applications, storage, databases, virtualization, and the cloud. This provides a holistic view of the infrastructure from a single platform. Extensible Architecture: Its plugin-based architecture (ZenPacks) allows you to easily extend its monitoring capabilities to support new technologies and devices. There is a large community that develops and shares ZenPacks. Integrations: Zenoss integrates with other IT management tools, such as ticketing systems (ServiceNow, Jira), automation tools (Ansible, Puppet), and log analysis platforms (Splunk).

Cons:

Visibility of information and customizable dashboards. It offers reporting capabilities to generate reports required for customer infrastructure health.

It's an excellent application; its features make adding devices very simple; automatic discovery, real-time monitoring, and the use of Zenpack make its implementation much easier.

Cons:

Some difficulties when installing Zenpack, some options are not so easy to find, I think it would help a lot if you exposed extensive documentation of the API

We tested a variety of platforms, and do a market refresh from time to time and continue to be very satisfied with Zenoss.

We have been using the Zenoss platform for nearly 10 years, for deployments with over 250 enterprise customers, some with aa many as 30,000 complex devices. We found the platform to be very complete, very flexible/adaptable, great technical support, and outstanding company culture. The cloud version is even more flexible, more data science and new intelligent operations centric.

Cons:

Would be great to add in some basic APM functions since often times customers don’t need robust APM platforms.

Zenos is a modular monitoring tool facilitating the incorporation of new features and capable of monitoring various types of devices such as Linux computers, Windows, switches and routers. It has a web interface very easy to operate.

Cons:

It should have greater integration with third-party application performance tools that would make it easier to use the tool.
