About PestTrend

Integrated Pest Management (IPM) is the industry standard approach to pest management. It is a well-defined process that has evolved over several decades. Digital pest management is the new kid on the block. It does not replace IPM but it does support it and helps implement your IPM process. They are intertwined.

As the pressure grows to collect more pest management data and more importantly use it, then how you handle it, is critical. Get it wrong and you will get bogged down in a mountain of data with senior management, auditors and clients demanding to know if you are effective and on top of your pest management.

Therefore, the heart of your digital IPM program is the place you store all your information and how you extract the pieces you need to make the right decisions.

Who provides the data store is a key factor. You may own the data but you may not own the place it is stored and many give that data store task to the pest contractor.

PestTREND handles all your analysis and reporting needs, taking care of key aspects such as handling the skewing factors of the data. This is things like irregular servicing by the technician, location of the trap, seasonality. PestTREND provides secure access for all your stakeholders with easy tracking of their activity. The stakeholders have to be able to be self-serving. You cannot be the bottleneck for getting a report. The pest control folder no longer lives on your desk. It should be on every stakeholder’s desk. A great amount of emphasis has been put on the analysis and reporting that PestTREND can do. This is where real value can be added to your pest management process. The days of setting a whole lot of bait boxes and relying totally on the experience of the pest contractor are over. Pest Management is a science now and as such has to be treated as one. The goal is to be more effective and that means raising the bar with measurement and analysis. It is the measurement and analysis that PestTREND can be a great help with. The difficult part has never been the killing of pests, but it was measurement of success. In the past it was more – have we eradicated the pests as opposed to measuring the effectiveness of process. The growing reduction of chemicals available for pest management means alternative means of control are required. There will lots of different strategies deployed but regardless of the strategy or technology employed you have to measure its effectiveness. Potential problems and early warning is critical to being successful in pest management. Technology such as wireless traps (alerted the instant the rodent enters the build not 1 month later at next service inspection) and software analysis can be used to give early warning of potential problems. PestTREND provides a buffer against the new technology by the addition of new interfaces being added to capture the data from the new monitoring devices. Therefore the monitor device may change but the data store, analysis and reporting does not, protecting you from the impact of adding new technology.

Awesome power for a reasonable price

Pros:

Pest Trend allows me to track every device and it's catch on a weekly basis and consolidates it into clear reports for our auditor. It's easy to use and has many different reporting options based on specific audit requirements that change each year.

Cons:

Had a little trouble figuring out how to add traps but customer service was extremely helpful and we were fully up and running in no time.

Reasons for choosing PestTrend

Mostly cost and ease of use. Many companies charge way more for the basic reports I needed at the time. As our requirements changed I found Pest Trend already had the capabilities in place to quickly adjust and meet my needs.

Not as simple to navigate it should have ( ? ) for each selection so that it explains what it for.
