Flamingo is a Slack app that helps growing and established startups manage their team's paid time off. The Slack app allows team members to request leave without leaving their Slack workspace. Managers can review and approve or deny requests the same way, with just a few clicks.

Flamingo automatically updates all past, upcoming and pending leaves in a simple and user-friendly leave calendar in the Flamingo web app. Through the web app you can customize your team's leave policy, access employee leave records and manage your scheduling at a glance.

Additional features include external calendar integration, customizable teams (for different locations or departments), multiple leave types and leave notifications sent to the Slack channel of your choice.

Flamingo saves 90% of the time you spend on managing leave with spreadsheets, email threads, or private messages, streamlining your leave management system and allowing you to dedicate headspace to important business tasks.

Excellent Leave Tracking for a Remote Team

Excellent. Saves me hours and hours every month that I'd otherwise be dealing with leave requests and trying to figure out who is off when.

Pros:

Flamingo is visually beautiful and makes seeing who has what leave when a breeze. That means I don't have to spend a lot of time trying to figure it out from a tool like a traditional online calendar where it would be unintelligible. The ability to add teams and leave types and custom leaves means I can use different policies to reflect different peoples' agreements. Support is quick, innovations are quick too. It's improved even in the 7 months we've been using it. Reasonably priced too without a bunch of fluff.

Cons:

No cons, all my qualms have been sorted and feedback has been taken on by the Flamingo team. What more could one ask for?

Reasons for choosing Flamingo

I spent a lot of time looking at different tools. Flamingo was the best set up for a fully remote distributed SaaS team like ours. It also had the best value:features ratio.

Reasons for switching to Flamingo

G calendar got confusing after a certain point. It's best kept for meetings with Flamingo doing leaves.
