Many promise one source of truth - Drivetrain actually delivered

Very positive overall experience with both the service & support as well as the software itself. I would give the overall capabilities and value a 11/10.

Pros:

Loved the white glove service and they fully took on the responsibility of onboarding with no extra costs. The tool itself allowed me to integrate all data streams and while a lot of companies talk about one source of truth - Drivetrain actually delivered this through flexibility of the tool itself but also through its expert onboarding team & continual customer support.

Cons:

I think the hardest thing about drivetrain is the mapping functionality in order to get all your reports working in the way you expect as well as aligning different sources of data to ensure they are abled to be reported together. This aligning is not always easy to figure out yourself - but the team itself is always on standby to help with this which is amazing.

From complex spreadsheets to seamless planning — a real productivity boost

Drivetrain has saved us countless hours and given our FP&A team a reliable, transparent, and scalable planning environment. It’s now our single source of truth for financial performance and forecasting. The mix of product capabilities and human support makes it one of the most effective tools I’ve implemented in FP&A. We have completely mitigated our risk of being dependant on single individuals owning and maintaining excel models/spreadsheets.

The Drivetrain team is truly amazing — extremely supportive and solution-oriented. They co-built our financial models with us to perfectly translate our former Excel logic into Drivetrain. Implementation was smooth and very collaborative. The platform itself is powerful and intuitive once configured, offering great automation, clear visibility, and a strong connection with Salesforce and other systems.

Cons:

Once you start building, you want to add everything at once — it’s addictive, but it means it never feels fast enough! I’d also love a bit more flexibility in the report layouts to customize the final view and storytelling.

- Ability to create P&Ls, models, metrics and reports tailored to our business - Can create roles with specific accesses - Integrates very well with Netsuite, Salesforce and GoogleSheets - Quick and effective support

Cons:

- Platform can sometimes take some time to load - Linking metrics and variables can be challenging / require high level of understanding - The structure of Drivetrain means some tasks need to be carried out in a very specific way and if they're not done in that way it's difficult to troubleshoot without support

Great product and team!

Our team has been very impressed with Drivetrain! We've been able to set up all of our Excel modeling and reporting within Drivetrain and feel confident in using these reports to guide our business with internal stakeholders and investors. The Drivetrain team (shoutout to Shailendra!) has also been extremely helpful when it comes to customer success and implementing new changes and taking our product suggestions earnestly.

Drivetrain allowed us to significantly streamline our monthly reporting and planning processes. We struggled to incorporate multi-dimensional planning across different segments of our business with our old tool (Mosaic) and this would be nearly impossible with Excel. The flexibility of Drivetrain's tool has been unmatched and was the reason that we made the switch. The Drivetrain team has also been great helping us with any questions that we had during the implementation.

Cons:

While the flexibility of the platform can allow your team to do more complex modeling than is possible in Excel and other tools, the ramp for setup and training on this could be longer than expected depending on how complex your models are.

Reasons for choosing Drivetrain

We also evaluated Aleph. We liked Aleph more than Mosaic too, but found it be a more Excel-native tool than what we were looking for given the stage of our company and modeling needs. Our leadership also preferred to have more robust dashboards that they could look at rather than Excel.

Reasons for switching to Drivetrain

- Mosaic struggled to handle multidimensional planning and reporting for our metrics. For example segmenting our ARR by channel AND product would have required multiple supporting metrics to create in Mosaic but was intuitive and easy to set up in Drivetrain. - Drivetrain's data integration setup was also superior to Mosaic's which allowed us to streamline out HRIS data integration. - Mosaic's tool could not support our more complex planning use cases and would frequently crash or slow down on us.

Time-Saving Automations, Powerful Forecasting & Excellent Customer Success Team

My almost 2 year experience with Drivetrain has been exceptionally positive, transforming our finance operations through significant automation of financial reporting, which has saved us considerable time. The platform has allowed us to build comprehensive, interconnected forecasts. Furthermore, the implementation process was remarkably smooth, thanks to the Drivetrain team's expert support. Most of all the platform has greatly enhanced cross-functional collaboration. We are very happy with our decision to choose Drivetrain.

- Automated Financial Reporting: Drivetrain significantly automated our financial reporting, including board decks, monthly closes, flux analyses, and BvAs, saving considerable time shortly after implementation. - Powerful & Flexible Forecasting: It offers highly flexible forecasting models for comprehensive top-line, expense, balance sheet, and cash flow forecasts that are interconnected with other systems. The formula writing is intuitive, making the transition from Excel easy. - Smooth Implementation & Support: The implementation team provides exceptional expertise and support, ensuring a smooth process. We were up and running with 3 statement financial models, dashboards, and reports within a couple months. - Enhanced Collaboration: Drivetrain fosters cross-functional collaboration with features like tagging in comments, user-level restrictions, and customizable, visually appealing graphs, charts, and tables in reports.

Cons:

I haven't run into any platform issues that the customer success team didn't promptly address and incorporate into upcoming product updates.

Easy and intuitive to use the system - this is a great system for finance and accounting teams. You don't need to be a coder to use it! It integrates with our NetSuite ERP perfectly too. The look and feel of the system is also very clean and great to present/share with others in our organization. And last but not least, our team at Drivetrain is the best I've ever worked with!

Cons:

Some limitations on how you can compare the models versus actuals in reporting - we know this is something that is planned to be worked on in the future! We would love more flexibility than just the variance and attribution options.

Reasons for choosing Drivetrain

Best looking product and demos - we felt confident that we would be able to use this system ourselves. We were also happy with the pricing and the fact that the team seemed so helpful. We had a great reference call as well.

Reasons for switching to Drivetrain

NSPB (NetSuite Planning & Budgeting) did not work for us as we could not use it easily. We also had a poor implementation so it was never fully functioning. Then we switched back to excel which can be very manual and slow. We knew mistakes were much easier to make this way too.

Drivetrain.ai is seriously leveling up the FP&A game. It’s smart, intuitive, and built for the way finance teams actually work today—with AI-powered insights, seamless integrations, and collaboration that doesn’t make you want to pull your hair out. If you're trying to ditch the spreadsheet chaos and modernize your planning process, this is the move.

Cons:

The load times can be a little lengthy depending on the amount of data being generated which leaves for less than ideal wait times.

Bring in actuals instantly, forecast accurately

Drivetrain's customer support team has been extremely responsive to any requests we have had. Their team is extremely sharp and capable.

Drivetrain is amazing for pulling in actuals from your source systems (Quickbooks, HRIS, Tableau, and more to quickly roll over actuals and forecast accurately for the business. Building custom metrics is a breeze.

Cons:

Sometimes the syncs can take a while. Scheduled ones are usually fine because they will run in non-peak hours, but when I make a change in QB and sync, sometimes it takes a while. Granted we have a lot of data.

Reporting out of Drivetrain

Positive. The onboarding experience was greatly looked after by [sensitive content hidden] who always had plenty of time to help us through it. Now we are using it daily and we love the power we have in the reporting

Drivetrain has completely leveled up our reporting. We are no longer sending out reports and tables in GSheets, but have a more polished look which is super easy to change to suit the audiences needs. And we have trust in the data

Cons:

It takes a while to get used to the product and start getting value out of it. If you put in the time though you are rewarded. We are self sufficient now mainly, however there are still some areas where we need to reach out to the Drivetrain team to fix/change something

We were having so many issues integrating different sheets and sources as well as formulas breaking and limits on size of data

We found the FP&A Platform we were looking for!

Onboarding was very smooth, 3-4 weeks to start getting value out of the platform. We were a bit nervous about the learning curve, having experienced this in the past but were able to get comfortable with Drivetrain quickly.

Flexibility: We have searched for an FP&A platform that would allow us the ability to create models that mirror the flexibility of Excel but with enhanced data control, we have found that with Drivetrain.

Cons:

Nothing significant, a few UX/UI features could be enhanced but overall, very easy to use and provides us the ability to look at data in a detailed or summarized fashion, which is what we were after.

We needed a platform that we felt comfortable modeling our business and felt Drivetrain was the most flexible platform.
