Mission Granted, 3 months in and loving it.

After only 3 months of working with the software, Mission Granted has become my first stop whenever answering a Board or staff question about the state of a funding source.

Pros:

The financial management of a non-profit is all about documentation of restrictions and doing the best work within what the funding allows - Mission Granted saves time by integrating restrictions right into the budgeting process. We are looking forward to our first round of budgeting - the scenario planning capability in Mission Granted is such a relief after managing spreadsheets with hundreds of rows and columns.

Cons:

Mission Granted forced us to level up in our financial management. (It's not a con, it's a good thing, but it wasn't fun.)

Reasons for choosing MissionGranted

Honestly, I couldn't find any products that do what Mission Granted does. I was stuck considering high end project accounting software that didn't really handle grants well and was way more complex than I needed in other ways. Most searches will recommend smaller scale financial tools because they assume, by non-profit, you mean "shoe-string". But large non-profits needs tools like any scaled business, but our funding sources are much more complex. Smart Grant Solutions identified an unmet need and filled the void.

A plus for our agency

Having no accounting experience, this whole adventure has been challenging. Again, I have no background in grant management so it's a slow growth curve for me. [sensitive content hidden] have been beyond patient and helpful.

I like that its a tool that allows me access to all my budgeting information in one place. And, that its easily modified as needed.

Cons:

The printability of some reports could be improved. I'm hoping for a more detailed step-by-step guide explaining all functions and typical activities of the website. Maybe a user manual.
