About Growth Forge

Growth Forge is a cloud-based software as a service that helps innovation teams formulate, model, and evaluate business strategies to iteratively develop concepts from a hypothesis into a real business. The software builds on many well-established tools, methods, and best practices but makes them interactive, adaptable, and interoperable. It combines aspects of project management, analytics, financial, and collaboration software, all integrated and optimized for managing innovation, strategy, and new business growth at the project, group, or company-wide portfolio level.

Before founding BRI, we spent several decades developing new businesses within a large Fortune 500 technology company. We learned the hard way what works, what doesn't, and most importantly, why the things that don't work are likely to fail. We have many years of experience as Intrapreneurs and as leaders of new business growth portfolios. We tried many software tools and services along the way, but they either focused too heavily on ideation and idea management or were overly generalized tools for collaboration or process management. We developed Growth Forge to address the gaps we saw in the market.

Choosing what new businesses to pursue and how to go about pursuing them is no longer a simple decision. It takes analysis of many competing and overlapping opportunities with a high degree of variability in the factors influencing the decision. Growth Forge is perfect for driving what-if analysis of these new business ideas.

Cons:

Like any significant software package, there's a learning curve here. Regardless, it's well worth the investment and the developers have a ton of real-world experience they bring to the table.

Making Innovation Practical

I think the main challenge we face is being practical with our ideas. I work in an environment where people like shiny objects. I also think that people believe innovation is magic created by one very creative person. This tool has been critical to helping people understand the real work that needs to be done in innovation, and it has been helpful on more one occasion to support arguments I'm trying to make regarding either the need to double down on an idea or to let something go.

The first time I saw Growth Forge I was eager to get to work with it. Having struggled to find something that would help me to do incubation work effectively, I was enthused that the creators had put this together for use for someone like me who was not trained in business but was tasked with model incubation. I think that the way in which the materials are laid out to help guide someone through the design of a real project are better than many of the other innovation sets that have been put out before. This was the most practical tool that I have ever found to support someone who is doing product development.

Cons:

As a new technology, it has a few bugs here and there, but I found the developers to be open to feedback and able to make immediate changes. However, these bugs were few and far between, so it's been a non-issue mostly for the completion of my work.

Outstanding collection and use of business tools ranging from strategic to financial modeling of the business venture. In addition, the dashboard and "what if" capabilities allow for the user/team to model expected outcome and identification of project/product market issues that can both be tested (before major investment) and increase visibility to the project on how to strategically pivot for maximum impact.

Cons:

A bit challenging to learn. Requires domain knowledge for business innovation and financial modeling for optimum success.

Growth Forge is an excellent guided, concierge-like, tool that helps business leaders understand realistic growth trajectories for their ideas. It points out common variables that impact performance, and highlights key variables that are currently helping/hindering innovation success.
