About Tableau

Tableau is an integrated business intelligence (BI) and analytics solution that helps to analyze key business data and generate meaningful insights. The solution helps businesses to collect data from multiple source points such as SQL databases, spreadsheets, cloud apps, such as Google Analytics and Salesforce to create a collective dataset.

Tableau's live visual analytics and interactive dashboard allow slicing & dicing datasets for generating relevant insights and exploring new opportunities. Users can create interactive maps and analyze data across regions, territories, demographics and more. Tableau helps to create a narrative story of the data analysis with interactive visualizations that can be shared with their audience.

Tableau can be personalized to serve a number of industry verticals including banking, communication, education, healthcare, real estate, manufacturing and technology. The solution can be either installed on-premises or hosted on the cloud as a SaaS application. Users can also view and analyze data on their Android and iOS smartphones with Tableau Mobile app.

Great for visual imaging

5

First it's beautiful and then it takes getting used to the card structure in the interface. I don’t think its the easiest program to learn if you are coming from SAS or SPSS, given that you are not telling it what to do directly but instead giving what are amounting to "physical" instructions. Everything in the interface is drag-and-drop, so where depends has functional meaning.

Pros:
It is slick! There are lots of ways to analyze data and perform basic statistics, but Tableau lets you present the results in ways others can understand. It supports a variety of plot types; supports data relationships in the Data Domain. All around, it is very functional and pretty to use. I has a beautiful interface.
Cons:
The integration with Salesforce. Salesforce bought Tableau and the "merger" in the interface, especially the login, could have been done with a better eye towards eliminating potential confusion.
