Invaluable and comprehensive product

Excellent. Couldn't work without it. Allows payroll processing and calculation of NI and tax to be seamless

Sometimes not easy to make adjustments after a payrun. This might be if a mistake needs correcting

Sage Payroll - Accurate & Easy

Once setup the module is very efficient and saves considerable time. The main advantage for us is being able to print T4 slips and payroll cheques with little effort

Easy to use, up to date tax tables, tracks taxable benefits

Cons:

This module is fairly expensive. It may not be appropriate for a company with less than 5 employees

We chose Sage for our general accounting system and because of that the payroll module made the most sense.

Worst Service and Customer Service Ever

Extremely negative experience, worst customer service I've ever encountered. I was frustrated by the company’s lack of comprehensive services, relying instead on third-party partners that disrupted seamless payroll management. Key features like Direct Deposit failed to function, and my application remained unresolved for over a month. I expressed disbelief that in an era of major technological advancements—such as planned human missions to Mars—basic payroll processes could still be so inefficient and poorly handled.

I did not use their accounting. My comments is specific to their Sage Payrill and Basic HR. I did not see any value in uisng that except wasting 1 months of precious time trying to resolve very basic issues with their technical support.

Cons:

No value or advantage of using such a middle-ware for Payroll. Not helpful customer service. They just refer you to their partners without trying to resolve the issue

Great Software for a Union Employer!

Honestly, Sage Payroll is the most user friendly payroll software if you are a union employer. I have tried other programs, but none support a union employer like Sage Payroll.

What I love about Sage Payroll is the easy of setup. We are a union company and Sage Payroll supports the processing of a union payroll. I highly recommend it for this reason alone.

Cons:

I guess my only complaint is that it is not a cloud based program and you cannot save files within this software.

Training not included in package!

I must still run my own payroll reports for first month of take on ...not a clue how. The take on was stressful. First contact them for at least 2 days virtual training plus minus R5k and then start with a company for implementation /take over. Ensure they run all reports in order to compare.

It's easy to use and have several shortcuts to save time BUT you need training which don't get provided. ADDITIONAL COST

Cons:

There is NO training and don't even get mentioned in their quotes The installation team guide you but Vs their speed and knowledge...and this is taking hrs of your installation quote. Only stresses me out more due to lack of knowledge.

does not follow updates for pensions and other legislation, a lot has to be done manually and extra checks

Decent software, bit outdated

Each time I ran payroll it seemed it took me ages to do so, not the payroll itself but getting the reports out to link them with other financial software.

Pros:

Sage is easy to use and certainly a market-leader for business owners. The ability to quickly and accurately process payroll and provide a self-service function to employees is essential. As is compliance with HMRC. Sage cover all of the basics with a smart UI.

Cons:

More could be done to support customers when first signing up, as payroll can be a daunting process at first - that being said, there are articles online to help - although maybe more video content and less jargon would be best suited. Moreover, perhaps Sage should consider better discounts/offers/promotions/recognition of long-term users.
