About Unified Practice

Unified Practice is a cloud-based software designed to help medical organizations streamline various clinical processes, such as appointment scheduling, charting and more. Professionals can create treatment protocols, duplicate SOAP notes from medical charts and attach lab reports or other documents with them.

Unified Practice allows patients to book appointments on a calendar, customize availability based on room or location and send reminders to patients as well as physicians. Clinicians can avail forms to streamline patient intake processes and automatically charge cancellation fees. Additionally, users can maintain a record of the available inventory and utilize reference formulas and the custom formula builders to e-prescribe medicines.

Integrated EHR with tons of features and crazy good customer service

    5

Great experience, repeatedly. I find UP easy to use and practical. As I said, amazing customer service. If you can't figure something out, like how to configure your online schedule, for example, they will jump on a Zoom call with you and actually walk you through it.

    Pros:
I love the Unified Practice combines an online schedule with an EHR, which means that new patients who schedule are automatically added as patients and sent new patient paperwork. It also integrates with email provider, Constant Contact, and is HIPAA compliant with this integration, so it's easy and secure to move patient emails into Constant Contact and send marketing emails. Lastly, their customer service always blows me away. Inside the software you can chat almost immediately with the helpdesk (a real person). They usually answer within an hour if not sooner, and they check in on you to see if implementing their suggestion was helpful.
    Cons:
The only suggestion I'd make is to add a "Waitlist" feature. I'd love a way for potential patients to share their information with me (email, etc.) even if I don't have availability for new patients in the moment. Then when an appointment time opens up, I could give them a call and see if they're available to come in. Hint hint!

    Reasons for choosing Unified Practice

Unified Practice was less expensive for mostly the same features. Jane App offers a waitlist feature but I didn't feel it was worth the increased price (for me, at least). Overall, UP has quite a few integrations that really impressed me, including integrating with Constant Contact and FullScript, that really tipped the balance in their favor.

    Vendor Response

Thanks for the review! We will look into the waitlist feature for our roadmap!

I loved the ability to thoroughly chart acupuncture visits, the diagrams for point selections, and TCM diagnosis intake forms.
    Cons:
No way to import EOBs after they were received from insurance companies.

    Reasons for choosing Unified Practice

Price was my main factor so long as I could chart and remain compliant with HIPAA.

Reasons for switching to Unified Practice

I needed a less expensive option when moving from an associate position to owning my own practice.

Prefect platform, if you subscribe you will have a turtle speed of platform to support scheduling and making notes. It takes forever to open patients files! You can have lots of time waiting for loading, and have a cup of coffee. Workload decrease! Lovely :)
    Cons:
This platform always making me clocking out later, waiting for loading, waiting for cannot login. Cannot duplicate patient major medical history, so I have to copy past all the time. Less family time if you do not wish to spend too much time with family. Lovely!

Reasons for switching to Unified Practice

Change working location. I suggest them switch to Jane, and they will do.

Unified Practice is too convenient to not use

    5

Customer service is very responsive and helpful. Software does what I need it to do. I have a centralized software that does many things well and much more affordably than I think would be the case if I shopped around (e.g. credit card processor is very cheap and integrated so it automatically reconciles with your clients' charts, saves me time and money).

    Pros:
I love that UP has everything I need. It truly is a fully unified software. HIPAA-compliant charting and client communication, charting, scheduling, billing... I had a website developer try to convince me to let him do some sort of integrated scheduling besides UP on my website and I was like, "absolutely not, UP has that covered." I'm like a walking UP advertisement, I cannot be convinced to switch it up.
    Cons:
UP was hard to learn how to use at first, and actually there are a lot of features I don't use or don't find helpful. I practice in a very unique way (Worsley 5E acupuncture, Japanese palpation-based acupuncture, Classical acupuncture, and a little TCM informing them all) so I don't use many of the diagnostic tools as they're built. But I'm able to manually write in everything the way I want to and being able to upload and write on my own templates has made it all possible. I wish there was an easier way to view the chart history at a glace for a single client to show me what treatments I've already done.

    Reasons for choosing Unified Practice

Mindbody was meant for a HUGE practice, which I wasn't planning to have, and it didn't have EHR. It was incredibly expensive. UP also had a fresh out of school discount which I took advantage of my first year in business!

    Vendor Response

Thanks for the feedback and the review Grace! We have lots of plans for more flexibility in the system that sound like they would benefit you!

    Cons:
I didn’t like that it was chart on a iPad to get the cool features

    Reasons for choosing Unified Practice

I didn’t do my homework otherwise I would have started with Jane. UP billed me another month of text messaging just because after I switched to Jane, I needed to download files for 1 day and I was charged for a whole month.

    Vendor Response

Hi Michael, Thank you for the review. We only charge for SMS usage, meaning you were only charged for the reminders that you sent to your patients. We bill the month after usage. Texts you sent before you switched systems may have been charged after you left. Our pricing tiers are lower than Jane's and part of the reason is to allow our users more flexibility to choose the add-ons they want, rather than pay a premium subscription price to have add-ons they won't use. We strive to be the best charting experience to provide the best patient care. Thank you for giving us a chance and we hope your new software meets your needs!

Out standing Service, Great product! I'm so glad Unified practice exists.

I am blown away in the best way possible. I am an acupuncturist through and through. Over the years I have been perfecting my acupuncture craft and ignoring the business side of running a business. I am finally fed up with being disorganized- not knowing where money is coming in and going out, taking extra time to follow up with patients, being in touch with billing company, calling insurance companies on behalf of patients.... and on and on! I am literally so fed up with it that i sent my two babies( who are both under the age of two) away to my mothers house so i could sit down and research and get everything organized. After all the work i have been doing i finally called Unified practice to sort out some of my dislikes with their program. Turns out i have been wasting my time hating technology and being afraid to call them and get everything organized because THEY MAKE IT SO SIMPLE. CSR personally talked to me and explained every detail to every question i had. I left that conversation feeling organized and like all my business needs are going to be met in one place so that i can seamlessly, effortlessly and safely take care of my patients and my business. After this conversation not only am i going to continue using their program, but i am going to upgrade it so that i can have ease of billing (in partnership with acuclaims), on top of that i will now do my POS, inventory, charting, constant contacts, follow up emails and scheduling through them as well.

    Pros:
-scheduling and adding new patients quickly on my i phone app. -the precision to which i can calculate how i treat my patients and the time it takes to treat my patients depending on the service i am providing - the ability to list all my clinic services - the ease of linking the scheduling system to my website the ease my patients have when visiting my website to book themselves an appointment (its so easy that i rarely have to book patients myself anymore!) - the software is easily shared between my colleague and I - the fluidity of going from one step to the next when setting up the program for my business - the charting notes! no more paper! - all the specific acupuncture related information that helps make charting easy and comprehensive - and finally the fact that there are occasionally things that come up in business that i wish UP had available in their EHR. And when i call to ask them about it they are literally working on it and usually unveil it with in the next day to week. Like any business sometimes you don't know EVERYTHING you need until you get going. And when they find that their EHR program can be improved/enhanced they are on top of making it happen. It takes a crazy amount of work to add improvements, and not only do they do that they make it easy enough for a toddler to use... a toddler or an acupuncturist ;)
    Cons:
not really a con. Occasionally I come across things that i wish the program offered and whenever i call to ask them about it this brilliant but small and growing business is already working hard on making it happen for all their acupuncture users so that we can have a comprehensive seamless program that takes care of ALL the business needs we need to have a successful organized and HIPPA compliant business.

I signed on when they were fairly new and watched them evolve to include new features. The customer support has always been responsive and generally helpful. Unfortunately they no longer take tickets or schedule support calls so I have to leave a message and hope for a call back. Generally I’ve experienced them grow with their platform to meet industry needs, there are a few essentials they have yet to develop.
