About Dock

Dock is a HIPAA-compliant workflow management solution designed to help businesses manage employees' tasks and improve collaboration among physicians. It offers mobile application for iOS devices, which enables professionals to create to-do lists and invite multiple colleagues to collaborate and comment on tasks.

Key features of Dock include access permissions, data import/export, @mentions, database administration and more. It comes with a dashboard, which allows organizations to track the status of tasks, receive automated reminders before due dates and utilize the drag-and-drop functionality to categorize to-do lists into folders. Additionally, it lets users create new tasks with details such as task name, due date, priority status, assigned physician and patient information.

Pros:
I can make routine/repetitive tasks and assign them to my assistant. They can also mark the tasks complete once they completed the tasks. You can add as many subordinates as you want.
Cons:
It's not Free of course but it's needed Especially if you want a secured and HIPAA certified task manager

Not as seamless as advertised

Everyone we worked with at Dock was very kind and helpful, but there seems to be a communication breakdown between teammates. Different people on the Dock team have to assist with different tasks, so while you may meet with one person at Dock, several other members of the team may be helping out with various integrations and troubleshooting processes. When there is poor communication, it results in those different team members not being looped in, which means the work doesn't get done (or at least not without reminders or with a delay). Since the self-help support section of Dock is sparse at best, this means you will be required to set up meeting after meeting to implement your Dock Smartflows (there is also a $1000 set-up fee for this, and it was not optional). We were assured in our first meeting that things could be fully set-up and implemented within ~2 weeks of receiving the info from us. This did not happen. Instead, you are required to set up meeting after meeting until the process is done to your specifications, and our team lead usually did not have availability <1-1.5 weeks out. Also, plan on taking your own notes during meetings to keep track of what you've asked for and when.Again, everyone on the Dock team was kind, & [sensitive content hidden] did take $500 off our $1000 fee for all of our trouble, which was greatly appreciated. I really wanted to love Dock, but we just couldn't make it work.

We loved the overall concept of a HIPAA-compliant task management system that would integrate with our EHR (IntakeQ). It would allow for us to much more easily track patient onboarding processes as well as insurance referrals, pre-auth requests, etc.
Cons:
We started up with Dock around 8/20/22 and as of 12/29/22 we still did not have a useable Smartflow for onboarding new patients. As others have mentioned, their self-help support page is of minimal help, with virtually no instructions or walk-throughs of how to set-up Smartflows. I've set up Smartflows in task management software before with ease, but Dock Smartflows were bafflingly challenging. Regular workflows worked just fine, but we wanted a Smartflow to automatically trigger tasks assigned to providers with due dates to ensure a smooth onboarding process. We unfortunately never got there in 4 months time.

Reasons for choosing Dock

We looked at using Monday.com's HIPAA-compliant version of their software, but it is astronomically expensive. For now, we'll have to stick with Google Workspace workarounds.

Reasons for switching to Dock

Looking for a HIPAA-compliant alternative where we could have patient information and streamline our task management and our EHR.

I use Dock for employee training workflows, insurance authorization requests, client onboarding, and evaluation tasks. I contract to schools and it was very easy to set up a separate section in my "school" to-do list for each one as well as set up multiple to-do lists. The company has been very responsive to feedback and continues to work on adding features and changing ones that have not worked smoothly. If you love Trello or other task management apps and you need something HIPAA compliant, Dock Health is a great choice.

It's easy to set up workflows. It has a lot of features to help you organize your lists. Customer service is great.
Cons:
While setting up workflows are easy, setting up Smartflows once I upgraded weren't as simple or intuitive. They don't have many tutorials or online supports set up yet for guidance and frequently asked questions, though they are very responsive when you request help.

Reasons for choosing Dock

There really wasn't something else available that was HIPAA compliant that I could use to organize my to-do list and track time-sensitive tasks that was shared with my team. I looked for task management software and love some of the options, but they weren't appropriate for healthcare because of their lack of security. I considered other EMRs, but really didn't want to switch. Dock does integrate with some EMRs, but doesn't with mine (Simple Practice). This hasn't been an issue that has affected its functionality or usefulness.
