      One of the biggest advantages of Operating is how it makes our staffing process highly efficient while also providing company-wide business transparency. The platform is easy to use, integrates well with our HubSpot CRM and Harvest time tracking, and the support team is always quick to respond. It’s also highly reliable, with no downtime or technical issues. Another great aspect is that the team behind Operating is very receptive to feedback, continuously improving the product based on user input.

      Occasional duplicate records via the HubSpot integration. Additionally, while the reporting views are useful, they could be simplified in some areas to make analysis even more seamless

      Great tool for staffing and time usage monitoring - all the right features with no clutter

      I have experienced that getting started with Operating has been easy regarding getting our project- and line managers to use it. There are basic functionalities you can start using right away and multiples levels of added features you can implement as you go for even more value from the platform.

      It's easy and intuitive to use with all the right features implemented and no irrelevant clutter. The team is extremely responsive regarding both support and small feature requests
      Cons:
      I'd like a few more visual cues (e.g. color coding) on the data reports to make them even better, but that is a very minor thing.

      It has been a really good experience so far. Not always internally the easiest to determine i.e who to include/exclude from the team in Operating and how to keep Toggl vs. Operating data updated to take full advantage of the reports.

      Clear and mostly easy to use. Offers a good overview on the allocations and resources available. Easily becomes a part of daily planning routine.
      Cons:
      Team members finding the platform complex at times and the UX to be slightly 'boring' and colourless. Integrating certain tools such as Toggl data seems a bit complex to be done by different team members.

      The workflow is optimal for what we are aiming to achieve with the software. We also really benefit from the reporting and forecasting features in our consultancy business.
      Cons:
      Some features are still under way since the software is quite new. For example recurring monthly resourcing and work time balance features are still coming.

      What I like most about Operating is how seamlessly it integrates with both HubSpot and Harvest, which has streamlined our entire workflow. It pulls in sales pipeline data automatically, so we no longer need to manually update spreadsheets or rely on constant updates from the sales team. The tool also makes it easy to plan the best teams for projects by using real-time data on current workloads and historical time tracking. The filtering and reporting features have significantly improved over time, allowing us to make more informed decisions with less effort. Overall, the ease of use and the ability to automate key processes have been the biggest advantages.
      Cons:
      What I like least about Operating is the lack of a built-in comments feature, which means we have to rely on Slack for discussions and notes about assignments. Additionally, the data from Harvest and HubSpot requires manual refreshing, which can sometimes be overlooked. Lastly, it can be tricky to ensure that all deals are correctly connected to a Harvest project if not monitored closely.

      Reasons for choosing Operating

      We chose Operating over alternative products because it offered the right balance of simplicity and functionality while integrating seamlessly with our existing tools, HubSpot and Harvest. Many of the alternatives we evaluated were either too complex, requiring us to switch time tracking or project management platforms, or too simple, lacking key features like HubSpot integration. Operating stood out because it didn't require us to change our current systems and workflows. It filled the gap we needed by automating data flow between sales and operations, simplifying our resource planning, and improving our forecasting capabilities without adding unnecessary complexity.

      We made the switch from Google Sheets to Operating because managing multiple manual spreadsheets became too cumbersome and error-prone. Keeping track of our sales pipeline, project details, and forecasting hours required constant manual updates, which was time-consuming and often led to mistakes.

      Operating has been a useful tool for us to better manage forecasting, project assignments, and bandwidth management. We moved from Google Sheets and having to manage multiple worksheets to this system. It has saved us time and added sophistication to our process.

      I think Operating is the tool we were missing without knowing we needed it. Hours were being tracked and revenue forecasts were made, but it was all in separate tools and required quite a lot of effort to get the insights that Operating offers.

      Operating has different reporting layers, that I used on a daily basis. For example I could see at a glimpse how our marketing technology consultants are staffed for the next months to come. It's also possible to dig deeper and find out which individuals are being over or under staffed. What I enjoy the most is the revenue forecasts linked to the staffing situation.
      Cons:
      Since there are many reporting layers and different views to choose from, the user interface takes some time to learn. Once you find your favorite views and build your routines it's easy to use.

      Doing all the staffing and revenue forecasting in google sheets or slides required a lot more work.

      UI is very responsive and intuitive to use. Operating makes resourcing and budgeting projects extremely simple, and their comprehensive APIs allow us to connect data and our project tracking systems solidly together.
      Cons:
      More granular user permissions would allow us to adapt Operating for wider user-base. Enhancing the time tracking to support flexi hours, would also help us to consolidate tooling, although their excellent APIs enable us to have nearly seamless integrations.
