Our Analysis of Hootsuite's Pricing Plans
We've thoroughly analyzed the features, benefits, and limitations of Hootsuite's pricing plans to help you determine which option best aligns with your social media management needs. The software offers three main pricing tiers — Standard, Advanced, and Enterprise — each designed to accommodate different business sizes and needs, from small businesses needing standard features to large enterprises requiring advanced functionality.
**Standar...
d plan** The Standard plan is Hootsuite's entry-level offering for businesses looking to establish and maintain a professional social media presence. Priced at $99 per user per month (billed annually) or $149 per user per month (billed monthly), this plan provides essential social media management tools for individuals or small teams managing a modest social presence. **Pros:** - **Comprehensive account management:** Supports up to five social accounts, sufficient for small businesses focusing on key platforms. - **Content creation assistance:** Includes AI caption, hashtag, and an ideas generator to streamline content creation. - **Unified messaging:** One inbox for all social accounts simplifies engagement and response management. **Cons:** - **Limited social accounts:** The cap of five social accounts may be restrictive for businesses with a broader social presence. - **Basic analytics:** Reporting capabilities are more limited than in higher-tier plans. - **Restricted historical data:** Search functionality only covers the past seven days for brand and competitor mentions. **Advanced plan** The Advanced plan is designed for growing businesses and marketing teams that require more sophisticated social media management capabilities. At $249 per user per month (billed annually) or $399 per user per month (billed monthly), this plan significantly expands on the features available in the Standard plan. **Pros:** - **Unlimited social accounts:** No restrictions on the number of social profiles you can manage, ideal for businesses with extensive social presence. - **Enhanced analytics:** Customizable reports and templates provide deeper insights into social media performance. - **Workflow optimization:** Team approval workflows and bulk scheduling (up to 350 posts) improve efficiency and collaboration. **Cons:** - **Significant price jump:** The cost is considerably higher than the Standard plan, which may be prohibitive for smaller businesses. - **Limited historical data:** While better than the Standard plan, search functionality only extends to the past 30 days. - **No training or advanced support:** No access to Hootsuite’s premier services (1:1 coaching, customized onboarding) or customized training and consulting. **Enterprise plan** Hootsuite's Enterprise plan offers a customized solution for large organizations with complex social media management needs. With custom pricing based on specific requirements, this plan provides the most comprehensive set of features and support options. **Pros:** - **Fully customizable:** Tailored to your organization's specific needs and objectives. - **Unlimited users:** Add as many team members as needed without additional per-user costs. - **Advanced security and compliance:** Includes single sign-on (SSO) and compliance integration with Proofpoint. **Cons:** - **Opaque pricing:** A custom pricing model makes it difficult to budget without contacting sales. - **Complex implementation:** The extensive feature set may require significant onboarding and training. - **Potential feature overload:** Some organizations may not utilize all available features, leading to unnecessary complexity. **Nonprofit discount** Hootsuite offers a special discount for qualified nonprofit organizations, with plans available at $24.50 and $64.50 per month. This represents a significant cost reduction compared to standard pricing, making Hootsuite's professional-grade tools more accessible to organizations with limited budgets. **Free trial** Hootsuite offers a 30-day free trial for the Standard and Advanced plans, allowing potential customers to test the platform's capabilities before committing to a subscription. This trial period provides ample time to evaluate whether Hootsuite meets your organization's social media management needs. **Conclusion** Based on our analysis, Hootsuite offers a range of options to accommodate businesses of various sizes and with different social media management requirements. - **For small businesses and solopreneurs:** The Standard plan at $99 per month per user (billed annually) provides a solid foundation for managing a modest social media presence. With support for up to five social accounts and essential tools like AI-assisted content creation and unified messaging, this plan offers good value for businesses looking to establish and maintain a professional social presence. However, growing businesses may quickly outgrow the limitations of this plan, particularly the cap on social accounts. - **For midsize businesses and marketing teams:** The Advanced plan at $249 per month per user (billed annually) offers a significant upgrade in capabilities. With unlimited social accounts, customizable analytics, and workflow optimization features, this plan is well-suited for businesses with a substantial social media presence and multiple team members involved in content creation and engagement. The advanced engagement tools and expanded competitor benchmarking make this plan particularly valuable for businesses focused on competitive analysis and customer service via social channels. - **For large organizations and enterprises:** The Enterprise plan with its custom pricing model provides the most comprehensive solution. The unlimited user access, advanced security features, and exclusive tools like Employee Advocacy and Talkwalker-powered Listening make this plan ideal for organizations with complex social media operations spanning multiple departments and regions. The included training, certification, and dedicated support further enhance the value proposition for large-scale implementations. When selecting a Hootsuite plan, businesses should consider their current social media footprint, team size, content volume, and analytical needs. The 30-day free trial for the Standard and Advanced plans offers an excellent opportunity to test the platform's capabilities before making a financial commitment. For organizations with budget constraints, particularly nonprofits, the available discount makes Hootsuite's professional tools more accessible while still providing robust functionality. By aligning your social media management requirements with the appropriate Hootsuite plan, you can optimize your investment and leverage the platform's capabilities to enhance your brand's social media presence, engagement, and overall performance.Compare Pricing

Sprout Social and Agorapulse costed too much, and was very difficult to use. Hootsuite just works better at social media management than both of those more expensive solutions.

Great for consolidating accounts, expensive for small clients!
3
Hootsuite is great, however it became too expensive to justify when there were free tools we could use for our clients like Meta Business' scheduler, LinkedIn Scheduler and Databox for free reports. However if your client's accounts are all business places and you want to schedule all in one place, Hootsuite just might be the tool for you!

Reasons for switching to Hootsuite

Powerful, Time-Saving Social Media Solution for Serious Users
4
Overall, Hootsuite has been an invaluable tool for managing my social media presence. It provides a powerful suite of features that streamline planning, scheduling, and analytics, which has allowed me to stay on top of content with ease. While the learning curve and cost may be considerations, especially for new users, the time saved and the value added make Hootsuite an excellent investment in my social media strategy.
Ratings Breakdown
Reasons for choosing Hootsuite
I chose Hootsuite because of its comprehensive feature set, which combines scheduling, analytics, and social listening tools in one platform. While Buffer and Later are great for scheduling, they don’t offer the same level of analytics and multi-platform support. Sprout Social was also a consideration, but Hootsuite’s pricing and user-friendly interface suited my needs better.
