About Jitsi

Jitsi Meet is an open-source video conferencing solution that helps businesses of all sizes create virtual rooms to conduct meetings remotely. Presenters can mute participants, send private messages, remove specific individuals and record sessions.

Jitsi Meet's screen sharing functionality allows team members to share external applications with coworkers, facilitating quick collaboration. Administrators can set up password-protected virtual rooms and lock rooms to restrict late attendees from joining sessions. The telephony module enables team members to invite participants and join meetings via audio phone calls. Additionally, the picture-in-picture (PIP) mode lets team members use multiple applications simultaneously.

Jitsi Meet comes with an application programming interface (API), which allows businesses to integrate the system with multiple third-party applications. It provides Android and iOS mobile applications, which allow users to join video conferences remotely. It is available for free and support is extended via documentation and email.

Good meeting solution - horrible deployment and recording

Pros:

Transition between people during the meeting are really nice. Also quality of meetings and, obviously price.

Cons:

Recording is really flaky. It needs external solution (jibri) and it's failing quite often. Deployment is a nightmare and you need skilled IT team to have it running reliably.

Very easy access, high quality, hardly no connection problem, easy to set up meeting rooms and to share the access details, free software to use without log-in or creating an account

Cons:

limited features in the free version, but still sufficient for the required scope of use

The system in convenient for companies that have employees based remotely. You can easily access calls and voicemails from your laptop or smartphone.

Cons:

Sometimes the connection isn't great. There's also an audio delay once in awhile, usually this is resolved by restarting the system.

Jitsi or not jitsi

It is very convenient. You can set up a room send the link and start a meeting in a matter of minutes

Pros:

It is a videoconference platform. What is great is that you do not have any software to download. You just have to create a room, send the link to the people who must attend the meeting et voila ! The communication is crypted. You can share screen and there is a chat box. It is easy to select the speakers and the microphone in use

Cons:

Compare to other videoconference plateform or software, jitsi miss the possibility to organize independant rooms or a virtual whiteboard. You cannot also record it. It is better to use it on Google. Sometime you loose connection or cannot hear someone that neet to reload the browser

Pros:

Does the job - sometimes have connection problems, but I use Jitsi integrated in third-party app so I do not know which app causes the connection problems. It has all the basic functionality - muting, sharing meeting link, screensharing, easy to use mobile app, ...

Cons:

I would like the functionality to share the full screen instead of only individual windows. I assume this will be implemented some day.

Pros:

Apart from the fact that it manages data consumption better, there is literally nothing to like

Cons:

The UI is bland and unattractive. The call quality is terrible, the app lags and the screen sharing feature is unreliable.

Reasons for switching to Jitsi

I thought Jitsi would be better for conserving data, which it was, but the trade-off in quality was not worth it

It was a revolution!

In general, it was good, it was one of the first options that we used in the company in the 2000s and it always met our expectations.

Pros:

There is no limit of participants! Which made things very easy, since there was no need to go around filtering people or leaving them out. It's a very simple and intuitive interface, there is no way to get lost

It got stuck in time, it has few features which makes it "boring" compared to current competition.

I have used Jitsi to communicate with coworkers and family It is a good tool and we like it very much but there are others that have replaced it technologically.

Cons:

We can´t send gifs with it and it is quite limited in other aspects as well. It makes it hard to send certain types of files.

Great Free Video Conferencing Solution

Jitsi allows my team to work from home and successfully communicate. We use it for meetings, one-on-ones, brainstormings, updates, and general communications. Also, I've started to use this software much more often to chat with my family and friends amid pandemic.

Jitsi Meet is a fully secure, scalable, easy to use, customizable and feature-rich solution, perfect choice for remote everyday use.

Cons:

I have not come up against any weaknesses yet. The one thing I can remember, once I've noted an audio delay during the meeting.

Jitsi Meet Review

If you are looking for something different that is not attached to the tech giants, or moving to open source products, this is definitely the video conferencing software to use.

Pros:

Open Source. What does this mean to you? You can tweak the software to your liking and even contribute to its development. Its lightweight. It is stable even in low bandwidth. It has a nice user interface and is easy to use. You do not need an account to start a chat room or meeting. You just navigate to https://meet.jit.si/ and start a meeting. For others to join, you just share out the link to them. Jitsi Meet integrates well with different calendar service providers such as google calendar and so can be used to plan meetings just like any other video conferencing software.

Cons:

None so far. Try it, you will definitely love it.
