About Vista Payroll

Vista Payroll is a payroll management software that helps businesses in education, finance, hospitality, healthcare, manufacturing, utilities and other industries across the Canadian and US region streamline operations related to employee paycheck generation, payroll register and more. Its built-in time-accrual module lets administrators view, monitor and approve leave requests via a unified portal.

Vista Payroll allows organizations to create and maintain various financial reports in compliance with state, federal, local and provincial tax rules. It offers various features including general ledger management, mobile access, job cost accounting, tax reciprocity, retroactive processing and more. Additionally, supervisors can automate a host of manual tasks such as check reversal, pay increases and relocation expense management.

Vista Payroll offers a self-service portal, which lets employees view paycheck history, time entries and W-2s and 1095-C tax forms. It is available on a one-time payment and support is extended via phone, email and other online measures.

Ran a hosted version of this software for HR and PR

I learned a lot about Crystal Reports and due to being ambitious and a self motivator, I really learned a lot about inner workings of this product. Wish we had the opportunity to get into workflows and really make this a win.

Pros:

This tool was easily navigable and had such a small support team that it felt like you had your own personal representative that knew your environment. You had the ability to do some custom reporting to better fit your business needs instead of being locked down to just canned reports from a larger entity like ADP. Their benefits/payroll/onboarding and HR modules seemed pretty inclusive for the fees we paid.

Cons:

All reports were done with Crystal, so ramp up time was extensive in order to get a good feel for the tables and how to write reports off of them. Would have been super beneficial for our company to have a dedicated administrator for the entire suite of modules instead of subject matter experts in one area. I think we could have gotten a lot more out of this tool if we were to run the administration that way.
