A great project/task management tool with some caveats...

4

Overall, I think ClickUp is capable of doing a LOT for those managing small to large-scale projects with various team sizes. I'm currently working solo (no team), so I've moved away from ClickUp for a smaller, more simple project management tool to keep things simple and easy to manage. However, I would definitely go back to ClickUp if I needed a more sophisticated system. Even with my complaints, I do find it a pretty powerful tool when used at the proper scale for the business implementing it. I highly advise against trying to use every feature. I've found that using ONLY the features that best support your needs is a much more valuable and efficient way to use the system. I just wish their billing allowed more room for this.

Pros:
Having used ClickUp for various projects with very small teams and for my own solo work, I've found it great at scaling to users needs. Whether you're working on a company-wide initiative or a solo project, you will have what you need to organize the work. I appreciate the automation features, although I sometimes felt limited when what I wanted to accomplish through automation wasn't available for me (I happen to be a person who appreciates a sandbox experience so I can really curate the automations I want).
Cons:
Their billing tiers are incredibly convoluted. Even on a small team or as a solo worker, there were features I would've liked to have access to that were only available at the much higher tiers. It didn't make sense to me to pay so much more per person to unlock one or two features that would've been helpful for our use case. It seems the billing tiers assume that needed features scale predictably with the size of the company, but that's not always true. There are features that would be useful at any size. For example, their Enterprise tier (a tier you need to sign up for a custom demo for before you can see the pricing) is the only tier that you can get conditional logic on forms. That simply doesn't make sense to me. Granted, I don't know the pricing for that so it may not be THAT much more than Business (currently $12/mo/user at the time of this review); however, it seems like those features shouldn't be denied other lower-tier users. My point is, it seems the billing structure is designed to drive ALL users toward the Enterprise level. This can feel really frustrating as a user. Similarly frustrating was the frequent glitches of the software when using sophisticated automations. It seemed either the caching system or something had a very difficult time running automations in real time and needed time to accurately show the correct outputs for the specific automation. It wasn't a dealbreaker for me because it wasn't ALL the time, but it happened frequently enough that many times I had to ditch an automation all together because of this. Lastly, for those with super small teams or who work solo, it can feel very overwhelming with all of the bells and whistles it comes with. On the plus side, many things can be turned on and off for different workspaces, but if you don't know how to do that, it can feel overwhelming out of the box.

Reasons for choosing ClickUp

We very briefly tried Monday, but we didn't like the available views and features. Ultimately, ClickUp won out.

Reasons for switching to ClickUp

At the time, ClickUp offered similar features to Monday and better features than Teamwork. We made the switch at the direction of the owner of the company, and we stuck with it as it worked well for what we needed.

Great all-in-one tool for marketing and client management

4

I mainly use ClickUp for managing my email marketing workflow, coordinating with my team, planning content, and handling client approvals and feedback. What I really appreciate is how everything can live in one place...Tasks, comments, drafts, deadlines, and client notes. It makes it much easier to keep track of what’s done, what’s pending, and who’s responsible for what. For content planning, having different views (like Calendar, List, and Board) helps a lot when organizing campaigns and seeing the bigger picture. It also saves time because clients can leave feedback directly inside tasks instead of going back and forth through email.

Pros:
What I liked the most about ClickUp is how flexible it is. My clients managed 6 brands, and I can create different spaces for each and manage simple to-do tasks. The customization options are great (views, fields, and automaitons let you shape the workspace to fit exactly how you work. As an email marketer, my clients and team appreciate the different views (calendar, lists...).
Cons:
The only thing I'd point out is that it might feel a little bit too complex for someone who isnt very comfortable with technology.

Reasons for choosing ClickUp

Because automations. They are not easy to create, but once you learn how to do them, it's super useful.

Reasons for switching to ClickUp

We wanted a tool with more features to have everything in one place (or at least try)

I like how you can format things in more than one way. You can choose should something be a folder, or just a list for example, and have it make sense either way.
Cons:
I think the pros are also the cons. It’s so flexible that you can get lost in the flexibility sometimes and build things the wrong way. The templates are lacking. There are features that exist but have terrible UX like the mind map and the whiteboard or whatever it’s called. Very hard to use.

Reasons for choosing ClickUp

Price and flexibility were the main two. I used trials on the others and preferred the value I was getting with ClickUp.
