About Hour Diary

HourDiary is a cloud-based time tracking and expense recording solution that caters to small businesses across various industry verticals. It helps users to manage and keep track of project durations and running expenses.

HourDiary helps users generate timesheets for customers, accounting department and the invoicing process. Non-chargeable time can also be included in timesheets. The solution stores project-related data in a central database and communications are encrypted using SSL.

HourDiary enables users to generate custom reports on various metrics and indicators such as resource managements and operations. Reports can be downloaded by users and saved as spreadsheets on local systems. Additionally, HourDiary offers features like time estimation, support for multiple consultant billing rates and a number of export tools.

Services are offered on a monthly subscription basis that includes support via phone.

Pros:

Simplicity. Ease of setup and use. All our staff could start using this and have been keeping their time more regularly since using it.

Cons:

Reporting can be a bit inflexible. I need to export to excel and then make pivot tables to analyse the data.

Vendor Response

We have found it difficult to create reports that will be helpful to all our customers. We have therefore kept them simple with the option to export to excel for further manipulation. To that end we are always open to suggestions on new reports, or how to improve existing reports.

Pros:

It is essential we provide professional, fully itemised timesheets & expenses to our many institutional clients. HourDiary has helped us do this and in the process saved many hours of frustration struggling with Excel. I would recommend it to any firm.

Cons:

If it could fill in my time sheet for me automatically by scanning my emails, monitoring my phone calls and reading my mind that would be great.

Easy to use time tracking software that I can access wherever I am.

Saves time when creating timesheet to support invoices. Helpful specifically to me as i work on a time and materials basis.

Pros:

HourDiary enables me to easily record my time and then create professional looking invoices which I can send on to my clients. I can also quickly run a report to work out what time hasn't yet been billed (and the value of that work) and also monitor where I am versus any fixed quote / budget I have set. On the occasions where I have needed some extra guidance, the support helpline has been quick to respond & easy to deal with. Fantastic value for money.

Cons:

Would be helpful to have the ability to make certain matters / rates confidential from other users in the future.

Dear Ms Cattini, Thank you for your feedback. Our primary aim is to keep HourDiary as simple as possible and provide the ability to easily search for the correct project to add time and expenses to. In the past we have generally felt that adding a means of restricting some consultants from viewing certain projects would course confusion. Very worthwhile
