About Taiga
Taiga is a cloud-based and on-premise agile project management tool that enables project teams to easily and effectively work together whether they use Scrum, Kanban, Scrumban or just want to track issues. What makes it stand out is the intuitive user interface. This makes Taiga particularly useful for multi-functional teams and/or client teams.
Its features include an intuitive backlog and sprint planning, a sprint board with swim-lanes per user story and a sprint dashboard with a burn down chart, fully customizable Kanban boards with WIP limits, Epics, sub tasks, issue tracking and a Wiki function. Furthermore, you can specify different team roles, estimate story points per role with an estimation game and move unfinished user stories to other sprints.
Integrations with Slack, Hipchat, GitHub, Gitlab, Mattermost are pre-configured. A lot more integrations are possible through easy to configure webhooks and an extensive API set. If you are currently working with Trello, Asana, Jira 7 or Github, you can seamlessly import your project data.

Reasons for choosing Taiga
We are a small team and our issues are more about coordination than control. The big names are more on the control side, with lots of funcionalities around workflows and automation. We are not yet there.
Reasons for switching to Taiga
Mantis is too much ticket oriented. Taiga caters also for the enhancement work pipeline.
Vendor Response
Hi Sylvia, thanks for your review! Have you checked the comments and activity timeline for both user stories and subtask? This provides the history and allows to audit changes both on a project level in the project timeline as well as on user story/subtask level in their respective views

We used Taiga to adopt an official kanban workflow for our team. It has allowed us to be very organized in terms of work intake and management.
Ratings Breakdown
Reasons for choosing Taiga
Taiga is a lot more cost-effective. It's also the most feature-rich among the open source alternatives out there.
Reasons for switching to Taiga
We needed a tool which we can self-host so that we're not limited by the per-user licensing cost.
