Building Link is a fabulous resource for tenant resources, directory and bulletin boards. Its an easy way to connect tenants and provide information.
    Cons:
The system home page could use an upgrade, it's very dated and loaded with too many visuals/clipart.

    Building Link 2025 Review

    1

Service has gone downhill since 2020 - I thought they would improve with updates but this has been terrible this year. If we are forced to switch management platforms, I will be telling them to refund part of KeyLink. You can't bill 25k for equipment that only funtions with Building Link and have so many service interruptions that it has a noticeable negative impact on our daily operations.

    Pros:
I've been using Building Link as a Manager for 8.5 years. I like all of the functions, I wish certain functions could pull information from other areas (like when I deactivate a resident, if their vehicle info could also automatically deactivate, that would be nice). Unfortunately, they've had so many functionality errors and outage in 2025 (so many that are not listed on their Building link status page) it has impacted my ability to efficiently manage invoicing, vehicle listing, resevations, etc. The lastest issues include taking forever to load front desk instructions for courtesy keys, not loading the reservation calendar, dropping email attachments in work order emails, not syncing the mobile GEO app with the computer app and so much more. This happens on a weekly, sometimes daily basis, since Januay 2025.
    Cons:
KeyLink doesn't function as a standalone, you have to have a service contract with Building Link for it to function. It cost us approx. 25k. We feel stuck with Building Link. We purchased Keylink in December 2024 and shortly after that, all these problems and outages ramped up. In the last 2 months, when I dial their support number, hardly anyone answers. It is a recorded message about higher than normal call volumes and known service outages and to leave a call back number.

Worst User experience ever. Seriously, was is it designed in 80s? It's 2024!! the worst UX I've seen in the past 5 years. Not only It allows to book services in the past (???), then it doesn't allow me to book anything in the actual future. Why it's even on the market???
    Cons:
Honestly, haven't seen this dated interface in years

    Reasons for switching to BuildingLink

no idea, I think people just complained about something, but got something way worse. Guys, like please... someone to fix the user experience. it's beyond appaling

Building Link isn't great but it works for us. Most of our residents struggle to use BuildingLink but I think it is the mobile app that is the issue.
    Cons:
The software sometimes crashes randomly and the residents struggle to upload a maintenance request.

    Reasons for choosing BuildingLink

I have used Appfolio in the past and everything was integrated better and easier for the average person to use.

A system that could be great with the right vision

I think if BuildingLink was willing to invest in an overhaul they could be great, but the current iteration is behind its competitors and desperately needs a new vision.

    Pros:
Under the hood, I think BuildingLink is solid. Their underlying data structures and business logic make sense and feel like this is a product that didn't just pop up yesterday.
    Cons:
    (1) Aesthetics; I don't really understand why they haven't completed a major overhaul of the aesthetics both on the web and on the mobile app, both of which are aging significantly and clumsy to access. This could be accomplished with only UX changes by a web designer so not sure why such an issue. (2) Customization; This software can't do everything, which is OK, but at least allow users to add custom pages. For example, would love to create a custom 'wiki' style page or pages for an introduction or announcements. More importantly, let's say I want to use a 3rd party service for Payment Processing, Utility lookup, voting, or violation tracking; would be nice to be able to embed them in a page. (3) Violation Mgmt; The lack of any system for violation mgmt is crippling for HOA/COA use cases. It's the single major non-aesthetic feature that should be prioritized. (4) Email Messaging; Clunky is all I really have to say about that (5) Custom User Types; Users have to be set to pre-defined lists and must be enabled by support. Why not just allow Admins to create the types?
