About Genesis Advantage

Genesis Advantage is a Windows-based, on-premise furniture retail solution for small to medium-sized retailers. The solution offers point-of-sale (POS), inventory management, accounting, sales and marketing functionality. Key accounting features offered by Genesis Advantage include general ledger, accounts payable and payroll.

Genesis Advantage allows retailers to track inventory of multiple location, track sales and total orders. It also provides drill-down feature that enables users to click on an item and check for all those people who bought it. The solution offers a password-protected manager dashboard that displays the key issues and helps managers in taking a business decision.

Genesis Advantage provides the ability to manage stock levels and reordering, along with tracking special orders. Commissions are automatically tracked with sales invoices and users can print price tags directly from the main application. Support for the solution is available via email, phone and through an online help desk.

    WE RUN OUR ENTIRE OPERATION USING GENESIS ADVANTAGE!!

    My store has been in my family for over 100 years. We converted our furniture store over to Genesis almost 20 years ago and have never looked for anything else since. With a full line of home furnishings as well as a complete floor covering department, our inventory would be impossible to manage without the help of Genesis, and with their POS package, we are able to keep our inventory up to date the moment something sells. We also carry our own contracts so the Accounts Receivable Module is critical to us. Genesis Advantage does a wonderful job of managing our accounts. The reports are good and the statement process is a snap. Bill paying is another important function of any good retail software bundle and Genesis Advantage is great at helping us sort out the Accounts Payable. It allows us to batch payments by vendor so we can send one check for multiple invoices saving us time and money. Genesis Advantage also remembers the past well. whether it is for customer credit questions or product warranty concerns, we have to refer to data from years past on a daily basis and Genesis Advantage remembers it all so we don't have to. It is the only software you will ever need.

    Pros:
    We are able to print our own price tags with bar codes that can be scanned in at POS, or we can use the bar codes that come on the products. It merges even cash sales to a particular customer's account, making it easier to look up a sale down the road if there is a problem with the product. It runs smoothly on multiple computer workstations. Their help desk is fantastic! It has multiple pass codes for you to assign to different employees depending on their level of clearance. The people at Genesis Advantage are open to suggestions and often times include them in future updates. You don't need to buy expensive work stations. Simple and inexpensive work stations do the job nicely. It is complicated software but is relatively easy to navigate around once you get the hang of it.
    Cons:
    As with any complicated proprietary software like this, there will always be things that don't work exactly as you think they should. We operate our business differently than the next guy and have learned to adapt certain aspects of Genesis Advantage to suit our application. If the software were designed to run perfectly at our store, it would probably be difficult for the next guy to use so it is important to keep that in mind when you run across something that doesn't work the way you think it should.

    Great value , very stable, easy to use. Feature rich. Software supported in Europe. On line support. Constant improvements are supplied with service contract. New features every 3 to 6 months.Changes with the times to support IT changes such as office 365 mail support.Your data stays on site. Easy back up and restore function.

    I have looked at over 25 different packages and it offers with out doubt the best amount of features for the price. Other systems require other software add on's to do what Genesis does out of the box.
    Cons:
    Needs more lines available on Invoices. Some database structures could do with greater capacity. Screens can look a bit dated, but does not interfere with functionality.

    Affordable for a business just starting out. Low Support fees Built for furniture/mattress stores has more features than the basic POS systems used in convenience shops
    Cons:
    limited functions especially with special order items, you can not order them till the next day having to reorganize files all the time keying in items is not too user friendly and takes a good amount of training to teach a employee to use

    Gives us good month ending reports we use a lot. Best seller and inventory reports.
    Cons:
    We from time to time run into little qwerks but they respond quickly and get it fixed.
