About Ruttl

Ruttl is a collaborative online tool for reviewing developed websites. It is intended for teams of designers and developers to gather visual feedback and make live changes to web projects. The software works by embedding one or more target web pages for design review. These pages can then be browsed as usual in preview mode.

Team members can be added from within design, development units, and outside parties. Users can tag elements of reviewed web pages and add comments, suggestions, or questions in comment mode. Tasks can be assigned to individual team members and issues marked as resolved when appropriate.

Ruttl also offers a responsive view feature for reviewing mobile versions of the site. The platform provides an inspect mode that allows users to make design changes on production. An inspect panel provides access to CSS settings, such as element sizes, positions, and colors. Content and text properties can also be updated.

Best App for Getting Feedback on Live Websites

I love the clean and modern design, which is a joy to use and boosts my image with my clients. I like that my clients have been able to use it with almost no instruction... but there has been some confusion from my clients on how to do a few things, for example, to find and work off the latest revision. Also, there was a time where I didn't get any notifications that my client made comments... but I believe that was rectified.

Pros:

Has all the features needed to collaborate with clients on web design, including point and click to add comments on live website elements. Clients can collaborate as guests, but get more features if they login. As an agency, it can be white-labeled with a custom domain. As actual website revisions are made, ruttl can add revisions so that clients are commenting on the latest revision, not an outdated website.

Cons:

It's new, so some of the features are still getting worked out. But ruttl has been fast to acknowledge and usually fix any issues. I believe it's getting mature.

Way cheaper, better looks, more targeted at exactly what I need, which is website design review & collaboration.

Reasons for switching to Ruttl

Markup.io is still developing, slowly. ruttl has the live edit feature and a few more features than markup.io. And it feels like ruttl is developing quickly and has an active, fast-moving, serious team behind it.

Pros:

It cuts time in half and gives you the ability to receive all the feedback from your client in a very clear way, avoiding mistakes, misunderstanding. It even integrates with slack! You can upload images directly to the app and also screen record to make feedback even clearer.

Cons:

Its only in English, so if you or your clients or team don't speak it, its kind of difficult to use it.

Worst product ever

Purchased a subscription that charged money but subscription was not activated. I asked their support team, but they were not able to help. Canceled the subscription, but it charged money again. Trying to contact support, but there is a bug on the website to do so. They do not respond to emails. I guess it is a scam.

Sometimes rough around the edges, but improves each week!

When I first signed up, it was quite rough around the edges, but we let them improve it based on our feedback plus the influx of feedback from their marketing campaign. In short, the experience improves each time we log in to check.

The cost comparison to similar apps is great. The support is quick and usually helpful, they feel eager to grow and improve their platform. The 'versions' function is also great!

Cons:

They sometimes add features that are not fully ready, but I think they have grown past that and features really do improve weekly. The last time we did try the software, a website we tried was bugged and not viewable through Ruttl. We have not tried since.

Pros:

I like the modern and simple design of Ruttl and the features that make it easier for me to actively work on a website (or design) with my clients. I send them an invitation and they can then add comments to the design in real time, and I can respond.

Cons:

I would like to use Ruttl more often, but it doesn't feel good enough yet. A problem where one of my web pages cannot be displayed on Ruttl has been going on for over a month. I have been promised that they will take care of it and give me an update, but I can't put my customers off until then. So I have to (unfortunately) switch to other tools where it works. I really hope that Ruttl will bring more stability in the future, before new functions are released, because first of all the main product should work properly.

So simple, but so useful!

I have been searching for a solution like Ruttl for YEARS! I'm a B2B content strategist and writer who is often asked to review live web content. In the past, this involved sending an email with complicated, hard-to-follow notes: "There's a typo in the second word of the headline above the third copy block..." hem With Ruttl, I can add comments to the live page and invite the client to view them in situ, making the review process MUCH easier for both of us. So simple, but so useful for anyone who needs to provide input on websites regularly. It's a bit like Frame.io, but for web pages instead of video.

I like how simple and intuitive Ruttl is to use. I was using it literally within seconds of signing up. The interface is clear and easy to use.

Cons:

So far, there have been no drawbacks. I should note that I'm using "Comment Mode" only, not "Edit Mode," which allows you to inspect and edit code.

Pros:

More stable and faster that markup.io, version control, Video commenting, slack integration, Edit mode (pro feature), better layout because of collapsable activity tab. Automatically fetches all the pages from the domain

Cons:

The ability to send a page to ruttl in one click. Probably a chrome extension will do.

Ruttl is really easy to use, it literally took me less than 5 minutes to get started. It has a clean and simple UI. You can provide video feedback - which makes giving feedback really easy.

Cons:

The video feedback is limited to a minute, maybe that can be increased.
