Concur is a web-based expense and travel management software solution that enables executives to manage travel expenses. It allows finance executives to monitor expenses and cash flows related to travel expenditures.

Concur’s Travel and Expenses feature assists with travel processes, from booking to approval to payment. In addition, the software automates data capture from receipt images and submits expense reports for approvals.

Concur’s Invoice automates accounts payable processes by utilizing templates and predefined reports. The system can also customize workflows and automate vendor payments.

Concur’s Intelligence feature enables employees to create customized dashboards, providing a summary of multiple reports that enable finance managers to track travel expenses.

Concur also shares automated alerts with the finance team and provides reports and dashboards.

It's really easy to use. Even if you've never used it before, you can go right in and label all of your expenses to be reimbursed in a timely fashion.

Cons

It doesn't update automatically when an approver's status changes, I guess that may be a problem with the department that manages it but I'm not sure.

It does everything (almost). You have a lot of room for personalization with Concur -- it's not just one size fits all like most of the expense software out there. Overall, I think you get more for your money and better control and oversight of your employees spending.

Cons

Cost -- with the added features comes added cost. I don't love their pricing structure, but this is only our second month, so we will see how it goes.

Great for doing expenses when on vendor trips with companies. The app is very easy to use and syncs everything with the software at home.

Cons

I've used this in a number of large companies and the system is reliable and works very efficiently. Their Expensit feature which lets you upload direct receipts to get analyzed is a time saver.

Pros

Expenseit allows receipts to be uploaded raw and it reviews them and saves data entry time. They have a great workflow engine customizeable to various policies.

Cons

I would like there to be a more streamlined way to enter hotel rates on mobile.

We've been using concur for years. Early on it was a total pain - fax numbers that didn't work, screens that didn't work. Now it's completely intuitive and I love that I can use a scanned version of a receipt.

Concur has various features around travel booking and expense management. It's app is easy to use and allows you quickly manage and approve expenses. I wish the receipt part didn't just use the camera but actually focused on the receipt so that you can blur out the background and just have the receipt captured. Reviewing receipts for each expense can also be tedious so enhancements in that area would be good. Otherwise a really good product.

Cons

Saves time as I am submitting expenses for 18 people each month.

Pros

Credit card expenses are automatically brought in. It is fairly easy to upload the receipt or any backup. Out of pocket expenses can be added as needed. I like that I can split charges to allocated to various accounting codes. Approval is streamlined and I can see where each report is in the process.

Cons

Uploading receipts can be slow. When I have large files it often times out or I get an error. It can be time consuming to go back to find a specific expense from a few months ago.

The tool is easy for users to use and it's straight forward. Most questions can be answered on the users own even if they're only a little savvy with tech tools. Admins that are above the standard platform will need to KNOW how the tool works.

Cons

Terrible support and setup of this tool. Depending on the company size, you may need to dedicate a person to admin this tool. I feel like we're under utilizing some of the features it comes with, but that's because we don't have a dedicated person who knows Concur yet.

This is one of the most cumbersome and difficult to use pieces of software I've ever encountered. I use 20+ apps every day for my job and this is the worst experiences I've ever had. Nothing works as described. All other expense apps I've tried are better. Don't frustrate yourself or your team with this unusable product. Expense used to happen in real time and now its a 3+ hour ordeal to submit anything.

My employer uses Concur for handling employee expenses. It's been a nearly painless experience. The only issues that I've seen so far are that if an employee submits an expense report without first supplying bank account information, the report can get "hung". It seems that there isn't a way to resubmit a report for payment if payment wasn't able to be processed due to missing bank account information. The only other issue is around categories of expenses. We have multiple locations, and they all have similar categories. The interface saves most recent categories, but if you have expenses for multiple locations under the same category, there's no way to tell them apart in the recent list. This could simply be an issue with how my company names categories, but I can see where you'd want to have the categories be named the same across locations for reporting purposes.

I use this to submit my monthly expenses. The only issue I've had with it is the receipts not always loading when I try to attach them to the expense. It typically resolves when I log out and back in, but can be a nuisance. Otherwise very simple and user friendly.

Software functions quickly and never experience any kind of glitch or error. But had to get training from finance on how to submit expenses and even then I had to get a little help the first time I submitted an expense. Instead of calling it "Create a report" it should be "Submit Expense."

I have used Concur at various positions for 10 years. For those of us that remember taping receipts to letter paper, copying it (no way can you use the auto-feeder without a jam) and submitting it with the most tortuous user-unfriendly spreadsheet that accounting could think up, Concur is the answer to our foxhole prayers. What used to take hours can take only a few minutes, other than the inevitable missing receipt (which is our fault, not the programs.)

Pros

Multiple platforms can be used - allowing the diligent to capture photos on their phones right when generated - at the airport Starbucks, for instance.

Cons

The ideal platform is a tablet - it can take pictures and you quickly pull it out and work while waiting to board, etc., but I experienced a showstopping bug that required me to use my PC to finish reports. The bug was that the city lists and currency lists were invisible on the iPAD. Never figured out why; too late now as no longer with that company.

Advice to Others

Expenses are easiest when you do them as you go - take advantage of the mobile apps to make tracking your expenses painless.

I like the concur app but they should add the comment section while uploading picture of receipt. Right now when I am uploading the picture it will create with the random number so I have to spend extra time to figure out the actual receipt while creating expense report.
