Cons:

I can't think of anything I dislike about Smokeball. The setup and use of the system has been easy and super helpful in cleaning up our previous system.

BEST PROGRAM EVER!!

I love all the features- especially the AI feature, it has helped our attorneys to make sure they do not complete something but forget to bill for it. All of our firm's contacts are stored in one place, making everyone's address book on point for everyone to contact anyone, even if someone else added the contact I can still find it. I also love being able to search for a document by typing anything that you remember is in the document and it will search all the documents for that phrase.

Not for small firms anymore

Satisfactory. It does what its supposed to do. Nothing extraordinary. Precedents and other standard features items are not amazing. I use smart drafter negate the precedents are simply high quality.

Auto time and saving emails was innovative. A breath of fresh air from Action step. Good trust account management and support.

Cons:

AI and ask the other bells and whistles weren't worth the price. They are unable to customise to what each firm actually needs. This is no longer a good PMS software for small practice. They are getting greedy.

Reasons for switching to Smokeball

Action step continued to charge me while 37 urgent messages to contact me over a missing matter trust account ledger. This caused serious time lost and stress during audit time.

Smokeball best value and wonderful people to guide you.

My overall experience with Smokeball is a 9 out of 10. 10 being the best. From the onboarding to integration team. Everyone was wonderful and helpful to work with. Any questions we had everyone we worked with was happy to help. Even in the tight turn around to get this project completed everyone was always extremely helpful and professional. Smokeball should be proud of the team they have. Thank you for always being willing to help, jump on calls to go over questions and the help to teach to use the Smokeball product. It is much appreciated.

Easy to use, support and training provided and of course the people behind the scenes helping us as we familiarize ourselves to Smokeball. [sensitive content hidden] helped tremendously. Great customer service and support. The onboarding was extremely helpful having someone like Jonnell navigate us through process and bringing in the proper resources to help. Everyone has been very helpful all team we worked with Project management, to help bringing the data over. Thank you for all the help during the data migration to the support and help that came afterwards.

Cons:

There is nothing I that I have not liked so far. Maybe more that needs to be billed out and may already been worked on. A little more automation on payments to client and to us as well. Where if a payment is made or received. An automated form can be sent from client to us and when we receive payment a paid invoice or email can be sent to client thank you for the payment that was received so there is an automatic footprint in Smokeball so there is no need to confirm or remind ourselves to go look in SB. It will automatically be in there.

I wish Archie was a better AI source. I have had problems with it. It does not do a great job of summarizing deposition transcripts. I find ChatGPT to be more helpful.

My priority was to automate documents and no other software seemed able to do so without lots of pain. Smokeball has its roots in document automation! Imagine how surprised and happily stunned when I clicked on Forms and my letterhead with Client address just popped up! If this is how good Smokeball is out of the starting gate, I can't wait till for more. Plus, the tutorials, recorded training are easy and every single time I call Support, the staff is exceptional. Countless reassurances that I don't need to rush. They are as excited working there as I am using the product. Simply amazing.

Cons:

Billing is tricky to begin with but, as I said, the support staff makes it easy to get going. Everything becomes so intuitive - the software anticipates your needs and has the next step already built in. The designers are experienced in law and technology, but also in interface logic.

Reasons for switching to Smokeball

Hoped that document management, automation would be better and all I can say is there is a lot of genius behind this software. The actual use is better than I expected and getting better everyday.

Very good. Customer service is responsive, and staff is very pleasant. I enjoy being able to find a human when needed and the responsive of needing templates is good.

The total bundle of CRM billing, and document drafting. In addition to the aforementioned, the updates and improvements continue to develop with advancements in technology and the law.

Cons:

The cost of attorney licenses. moreover, the support staff licenses are nearly cost prohibitive. I have not hired support staff due to the cost of the support staff license. There should be a support staff rate of under $100.

I don’t have many complaints, but one challenge we’ve encountered is with scheduling across different time zones. When an appointment is created in one time zone and someone in another time zone views it, the time can shift incorrectly, leading to confusion.

The onboarding was clean, efficient and easy. The staff are responsive and knowledgeable. The interface is brilliant with a tonne of built-in features, and way we can access our files and documents is great and will make client-management a breeze. Their annual fee is competitive, and that's important for us.

Cons:

I am yet to discover a negative with the program nor have I had any negative experience with the company. It's perfect for a busy high-volume insurance practice.
