Sage50 versus Sage Cloud (not very innovative)

Pros:
I have been using Sage 50 for over 15 years and I have always found this product very easy to use, fast in execution, with many reporting possibilities, very professional software and without bugs....But my enthusiasm flew away when I switched to Sage Cloud.
Cons:
For the past two years, I've migrated all my clients to Sage Cloud, thinking I was taking a step forward. But honestly, I regret my move. I feel like I'm going backward when it should be even faster and more efficient than Sage 50. And my clients aren't very happy either. For example, one of my clients has five companies but manages everything under a single email address. However, it takes a different email address to open a new company, which I find ridiculous. Elsewhere, there's a master (owner) account where you can add multiple companies, but it's still just one account. Secondly, the project-based accounting isn't very advanced. I can't generate a single report with all the projects included. If I have 15 projects, I have to generate 15 separate reports. This will be nonsensical by 2026. The same goes for manually transferring GL balances to the net profit at the end of the year. This should be done automatically. These are just a few of the irritations I encounter on a daily basis.

Reasons for choosing Sage Accounting

I started my business with Sage50. Because it was easy to use and not that expensive at that time.

Uploading and deleting items and customers and suppliers. Very entry level. This product does not come close to Business Central. Sage is more an accounting platform for third world countries.

Pros:
I like the reports and how organized I feel when I take the time to fill in my income and expenses regularly. I don’t use it for invoicing yet, just small business bookkeeping.
Cons:
You have to understand basic bookkeeping with ledgers and all (rather different from just having a spreadsheet of income and expenses). It’s hard to know the categories for expenses - took a lot of googling because there’s nowhere on the site with that info. I think it would be best to work with a bookkeeper or accountant to set up all the ledgers/categories so you best utilize the site from day one.

Reasons for choosing Sage Accounting

Accountant wanted Sage and didn’t recommend any other product. So for their sake, I chose the product they used and preferred to make it easy for them.

Reasons for switching to Sage Accounting

My accountant was unhappy with my tracking method in spreadsheets and recommended switching to Sage, and definitely recommended sage over quickbooks

Pros:
Access anywhere, can see if client opened the invoice or quotes. That is the only pro to this software.
Cons:
Unreliable, if there is any internet issues or their server issues, you may have duplicated or dropped entries. Server is slow. Careful when entering just a slight touch of a key and you may post something unintentionally or incomplete. File capacity for attachment for invoicing is too small. You have to attach multiple files and the allotment for that is too small. I end up emailing customers their files. Waste of time and irritates my customers. There is also not a proper receipt to send to customers. Too many steps involved for everything, you cannot see more than one thing at a time. For example open 2 tabs for comparison. The desktop version is superior.

Reasons for choosing Sage Accounting

easy transition was a dumb decision There were many other software companies i considered but don't recall off the top of my head

Reasons for switching to Sage Accounting

I paid for the software, when my computer crashed they would not allow me to reinstall with the updates I had paid for wanted me to pay again and that made me really angry
