About Acuity Scheduling

Acuity Scheduling is a cloud-based appointment scheduling solution that enables business owners to manage appointments online. The product caters to the needs of small and midsize businesses as well as individual professionals. Acuity Scheduling lets users automate appointment bookings by offering a real-time view of the time available. It has the capability to automatically sync calendars according to users’ time zones and can send regular alerts and reminders to users regarding appointment schedules.

Acuity Scheduling’s scheduling feature set includes customizable intake forms, embeddable calendars, third party application calendar synchronizing and group scheduling for workshops. Acuity Scheduling is suitable for service-based businesses such as training and tutoring centers, coaching and consulting, photography and video production companies, fitness studios, salons and spa centers and health and dental clinics. The solution offers a free basic module and is available as a monthly subscription. The product offers APIs and integrates with third-party applications such as QuickBooks, FreshBooks, MailChimp, Google Analytics and WordPress.

Awesome product for small business owners

Overall, I enjoy this product and will continue to use it, if only because switching at this point is more hassle than it’s worth. Though the benefits of this software are unmatched, I wish they would upgrade a few things.

Product is awesome and relatively easy to use. love how many automations I can send for reminders to clients and for follow ups about re-booking and leaving reviews, etc. The payment integrations is also awesome too!

Cons:

I don’t like that they don’t have an HST addition option built in to client receipts. It really makes my accounting messy and occasionally I consider changing software for this reason only. I als wish that it connected directly to square so I don’t have to switch between apps. Would be really awesome if EMT was an option for payment as well.

Pros:

I've used so many different electronic calendars and Acuity is by far one of the best. The weekly schedule viewer simply cannot be compared to other platforms. It is also great to be able to have private notes that can be shared across the team on each booking.

Cons:

It is pricey compared to other platforms, but dare I say it's worth it. Also, since Acuity was acquired recently, it makes you re-log into your account like every half hour and it is VERY annoying. This alone has decreased my satisfaction with Acuity significantly.

Reasons for choosing Acuity Scheduling

Again, Acuity weekly view is better than other platforms. Most platforms don't even have a week view available, or if they do it cannot be custom colour coded.

Reasons for switching to Acuity Scheduling

Because Calendly has no weekly view, and Acuity's is top notch.

Still a solid choice

Customer service is very good, and it's very much a set-and-forget tool that comes in handy for capturing potential clients.

The primary function is straightforward, and there's plenty of room for customisability when new and old clients view the scheduling page.

Cons:

Email accounts that are added by an administrator as users, can't then set up their own account. Maybe this is more appropriate for big business that manage their own internal email addresses.

Robust Scheduling Platform with Great Built In Integrations

Acuity filled the scheduling gap where we needed it. As we grew the business, it provided us with quick wins in standing up a new business model that required dynamic scheduling across multiple platforms including M365, Postgresql and Retool. It provided a high level of visibility into daily schedules.

Pros:

Acuity Scheduling integrated well into the process and tools we were using. Combined with low-code/no-code platforms, Acuity was flexible enough to support a multi-user environment, requiring minimal administrative functions.

Cons:

Integration and Configuration did take longer than we had expected, but once the processes were fully mapped and we understood the interactions between Acuity, Retool, Outlook and our Postgresql backend, it became very easy to manage. The only real issue that we ran into is the inability for an Admin to manage the actual configurations for the end-users. Acuity requires that the end user participate in the connection between Outlook and Acuity. It's not a horribly difficult process, but would have been much more streamline had the Acuity Admin been able to execute the entire process on his own.

Acuity was chosen because of the flexibility and integration with other systems, as well as ease of use. We needed to operational in a short period of time.

Pros:

I love that I can easily create and manage custom calendar booking links for my different offers - free and paid. I am able to include all my onboarding documentation when a client signs up. I can take payments on booking without having to raise a separate invoice.

Cons:

For a solopreneur, its a relatively high monthly fee compared to some other offerings, but they don't have the same level of functionality, so it evens out. Also for some inexplicable reason, it keeps disconnecting from my zoom - which is frustrating.

I was using a free trial plan, when it came to sign up, another coach recommended Acuity as a better scheduler.

Acuity Scheduling makes booking appointments feel effortless—for me and for my clients. The automated reminders alone are lifesavers. I love how customizable everything is—from intake forms to availability settings—so it actually fits my workflow instead of forcing me to adjust to it. Payment integrations are smooth, the calendar sync works like a charm, and the client experience looks polished and professional. It’s basically like having a virtual assistant who never sleeps.

Cons:

There’s a small learning curve when you first dive into all the customization options.Once everything is set up, it runs beautifully. I wouldn’t mind even more built-in design templates, but that’s more of a wishlist item than a complaint.

Basic but gets the job done

Overall my experience with using Acuity Scheduling is positive, as it gets the job done for me, where I use it simply to book and manage appointments with clients.

What I like about Acuity Scheduling the most is that it integrates seemingly with other platforms that I use everyday, such as Google suite, and Outlook. it also allows me to create meeting links on Google Meets too which makes the integration so useful! I mainly use the tool to schedule calls and tech consultations with clients.

Cons:

What I like least about Acuity Scheduling is that there is very little customization available. Customizations require CSS/HTML, which non-tech savy users may find inconvenient or difficult to implement changes with. I also find the mobile app isn't as fast as the desktop version too, at least on Android.
