Ease of use, and very quick to learn. This version allows up to 10 concurrent users.

The audit trail and stock reports are very user friendly with plenty of filters. Expect a very quick turnaround training new staff and getting them up to speed, as the interface and functionality is hard not to grasp.

Customer service is located in North America. From my experience, after upgrading to the Enterprise version, our account manager usually responded to any inquiry within 24 hours. There is also a toll free line for any technical/database bug issues

In the Canadian version, plugging in to SQL server is the way to go in order to obtain custom reports.

The role centers, although a step up from the Premier version, "handcuff" users to certain roles. When it comes to the general ledger, the "all-or-nothing" functionality doesn't allow the controller to shut off access to certain parts of the financials. Ideally, the controller should be able to define a role center to allow posting/viewing in certain account groups and not to others.

Inability to approve and subsequently lock down POs and SOs. Once a PO/SO gets issued, a user with basic access can always change unit costs and quantities. This hinders the business' scaleability.

The Canadian version no longer allows the user to compress the data file in previous periods. This may be frustrating for companies who rely on lengthy journal entries, as the database file size will exponentially grow.

If you are a job shop (or project-based company), do not expect much in terms of job-cost reporting. The software is limited to populating a customer field when posting an expense. You will have to manually set up jobs as customers and instruct staff to classify expenses under the proper subgroup.

In my experience, the only real noticeable difference between enterprise and premier is the number of concurrent users (5 vs 10).

Recommendations

This product is ideal if your accounting department comprises of one-two people and all the POs and SOs are done by the same person. For custom workflows pertaining to purchasing and sales orders (obtaining approvals, locking down orders, policing SKU creation etc), the next step up would be Dynamics NAV, Sage 300, or a NetSuite. It is very hard to delegate and manage using any of the Quickbooks versions.

Quick book offers a vast majority of functions. It allows us to run detailed and precious reports, it very user friendly and offers a great back up system.

I have worked with about 6 core Accounting packages in the quest to find ONLY ONE THING,Ease of Use! At first glance Quickbooks looks to be all over the place with its many menus and icons but once you find what you are looking for in terms of your daily entries and reports, This is a package every business owner should have. The installation was easy enough for me to go through the interview process and setup my company books. The biggest highlight for me was the many reports i could generate by the click of my mouse.

Quickbooks has come a long way from being an "American Product ONLY" with the many aspects of banking,tax and payment options associated with key banking and American regulation, i found with this product that you can customize and draw down what you didnt want. I still believe they could do better in terms of removing the standard options of tax and add in more of customizable functions so that when its bought anywhere else in the world its the right fit

Buy the product even if you are a small business, it will grow with your needs from Point of Sale,Warehousing and fully fledged accounting for your books

It works. Easy to use, intuitive. We have multiple Corporations the Enterprise version has a "consolidation" feature that gives us our summarized reports.

One irritating problem is how "Credit" invoices are handled in AP, they are automatically deducted when paying the vendor and NOT listed on the check stub! Making reconciliation near impossible.

Recommendations

We migrated from Quickbooks Pro to Enterprise as our number of Corporations grew. Enterprise handles larger file sizes more efficiently and the Consolidation feature in invaluable! It is only available on the Enterprise version.

Reporting capabilities is limited to the standard reports built-in. Customizing reports is very difficult due to the inherent database relationships of this old program.

Businesses that are very straight forward like a bakery or a restaurant may find this software easy and relatively inexpensive. Enterprise is well suited for businesses with many users and have lots of different facets to their business, like having ability to track many different expenses from shipping, fleet vehicles, and with hundreds of customers. This software is well suited for companies that are pretty static in that sense. For businesses that are very complex or are constantly changing, like new product lines and sales mixes, this software is likely not able to help be able to quickly adapt and provide real-time stats.

Recommendations

Make sure you research all of the different options at the different price ranges. The platinum level has many upgrades especially in regards to how it can work with inventory and lot numbers. The jump to the platinum level only requires a small increase in costs and would be better to sign up for from the start if your inventory is fairly complex.

You have to double check your numbering when switching from invoice to sales receipt. The numbering does not advance from one to the other!

I've had trouble downloading downloading credit cards into quickbooks. Information did not load in correctly and I ended up having to do it by hand.

I help make use of the is product, you need to keep up with your entries. I enter all my credit cards by hand rather than download them. I actually like doing this because I can go over all my charges as I do so.

Intuit support rarely resolves any issues for us in an hour or so, long hold times, constant escalation to resolve issues.

Recommendations

Do your homework, this works well on the financial side (A/R A/P and Accounting) and interfaces with our CPA. Great for our type of business (wholesale) but we don't use for inventory management. Do online upgrades versus disk, fairly easy to upgrade and re-register each year.

Quickbooks offers a fantastic platform for running a small to medium sized business. The most robust customer database and accounting software to date is the key strategy behind Quickbooks user interface. They allow for a robust suite of tools to easily help the business owner manage products, customers, and a whole array of other essentials. The most helpful features have been the most recent. Quickbooks has truly taken the time to nail down a beautiful UI experience which is twofold: 1. an intuitive experience with an easy to user navigation system and 2. quick access to the features most important to consumers.

Use it or at least 2 months to get to full experience. Things become much easier to learn after the first week.

Quickbooks is extremely intuitive, I didn't really need instruction on how to use it. The interface is clean and it keeps accounting and invoicing efficient. Customers are organized in such a way that I can always find what I'm looking for. Keeping track of outstanding invoices has never been easier. Furthermore, being able to see the customer's history with each invoice allows keen insight regarding when invoices were sent and if/when they have been viewed. This makes communication with customers easier because I have to ask fewer questions, and I'm on the same page as the customer before I even reach out.

I've adjusted the contact info for certain customers to, for example, include two email addresses to send an invoice to, but it still defaults to one, and I had to enter it manually... could be my own mistake. Other than that, I've had no issues, except that Quickbooks isn't optimized for Google Chrome. I'm not a big fan of Safari, but again, this is a minor issue.

Recommendations

Quickbooks will suit your needs. When you begin using it, stay diligent and stay organized. Keep contact and payment info up to date. The more organized you are from the get-go the better off you'll be in the end.
