It will be best to have it as a hard close software for financial figure safety.

Pros

It is easy to use by everyone. You don't need a degree or accounting knowledge to manipulate the software.

Cons

The numbers can be easily manipulated which is not safe for financial figure. It is open close instead of hard close.

Going on 25 years of using Quickbooks, I wish every program was this easy to use...

Value for Money

I have found that Quickbooks is the best value for the money.

Pros

The program is common sense based so it is easy to train users who do not have a background in accounting/bookkeeping. The security features allow businesses to limit access to functions per employee which is similar to more expensive programs. Quickbooks offers excellent filtering options for reporting purposes.

Cons

Intuit downloads too many opportunities for employees to initiate updates on their own workstations resulting in varying versions. I have been unable to use Quickbooks for job costing and I believe the only remedy is to run payroll through the system to properly gather data. For companies who outsource payroll, job costing requires the use of excel spreadsheets using Quickbooks reports.

Very good software.

Pros

The whole team can use it from different locations. The notifications via email to team members when a new invoice is input into the system keeps everybody on the same page

Cons

The bad thing that we have noticed is when utilizing Intuit payment processing, that the notifications only goes to one email. There are times when we have 5 employees inputting invoices for their customers, and they are not sure when a deposit for work is submitted, unless someone in our business is forwarding that payment notification to everybody else.

Pros

It is easy to use and easy to draw reports, the customer care centre is helpful and very accomodating.

Cons

It does not have the ability to carry detail over after closing off, the system is too open and carries a risk of fraudulent reporting

I love using the Intuit Quickbooks software for book keeping my mom's small business. Always easy to use, and easy to find answers if there is anything I am looking for.

Pros

How easy it is to enter information in and easy to find what you are looking for within the software.

Cons

Paying extra for certain tax forms, updating almost every start up (although I can see why necessary) but nothing that I would stop using the product over.

Pros

Has lots of reports and templates. The customer service is good. Is great for medium to large businesses not wanting to do payroll in house.

Cons

Not easy to use or easy to correct mistakes. Slowed my computer down. Had a hard time using so I picked up a book but that didn't help.

QBE is not for the faint of heart

Customer Support

Value for Money

It's functional and it works in accordance with GAAP, so that is why our company uses it.

Pros

It is a very thorough accounting system, and has build assemblies which helps the costing process. Invoicing and customer set up is pretty simple, and I like the multiple price lists for different types of customers.

Cons

The advanced inventory system does not function well for inventory management purposes. The lot number tracking and bin location functions are difficult to use, and the option of having negative inventory is ridiculous because it causes data corruption. Why even offer it if it messes up everything?! It also is very difficult to find a 3rd party company that will link with QBE, whether it's an e-commerce platform or an inventory management add-on. Also, very expensive for multiple users.

'Enterprise' Appellation Undeserved

Ease-of-use

Functionality

Customer Support

Value for Money

The unfortunate fact is that a QB Company file can become corrupted at any time for numerous reasons, and once corrupted your primary option is to submit the file to the Intuit Data Recovery team, who inform you that their repair effort will take up to three (3) business days, during which time your business operations are effectively suspended. My advice is to consider carefully whether your business can recover from such a disruption before betting its future on QB as a business operations platform.

Pros

QuickBooks does a fine job with basic accounting functions, is relatively easy to use, and the report suite is more than adequate for small businesses.

Cons

QuickBooks Enterprise Manufacturing & Wholesale version simply does not work as advertised, as two examples among many will demonstrate. QB offers 'Advanced Pricing' functionality which enables the user to define and apply pricing rules across their client roster and inventory items list. These rules are intended to allow the QB user to apply a 60% across-the-board discount for clients Ajax and AAA, while clients Acme and Consolidated receive that same discount plus custom pricing on items X, Y, and Z. However, after the pricing rules have been applied and those clients are being billed, changing the invoice or ship date results in the deletion of the shipping cost line-item, and changes to the pricing of items on the invoice. Research with QB support revealed that Advanced Pricing suffers from a bug that was known to Intuit for at least 1 month prior to when I invoked the Advanced Pricing functionality, and a full month later Intuit has been unable to remedy the bug. After invoking the 'Advanced Inventory' feature-set, which automatically creates a drop-ship warehouse site, I learned that product being purchased from a supplier and shipped directly to our client was being removed by QB from the count of physical inventory resident on our premises. Intuit tech support rep's response was (paraphrased) "That doesn't seem right, but I don't know much about Advanced Inventory - you should call back tomorrow morning, as the day-shift staff have more tenure and are more knowledgeable".

Quickbooks Enterprise Solutions Payroll Support

Customer Support

VERY POOR. Support for payroll issues is handled in the Philippines and they either can't speak clearly enough to understand or don't understand the problem. I was on the phone for an hour and a half trying to get help on year end payroll issues and the representative was even logged into my computer and still had no clue what I needed to do. He finally said he was putting me on hold to get a supervisor and never came back. It's a share nobody in the US is trained on the payroll so you can get the help you need.

Advice to Others

Do NOT use QuickBooks. Support is not available.
