Buyer beware. Sales pitch does not match reality. You cannot take custom orders with a deposit for future delivery. You cannot enter PO's for inventory tracking on future delivery. Many features can be had but for double what they quote for monthly. Appears to be a little like a bait and switch. Took me a month to get inventory loaded. No credit for service charges yet. Concierge is not all they say it is. 24 hour chat is awesome but doesn't solve all problems. Told me my credit card company was about to be approved for chip readers. A month and a half later, I'm on the hook for fraudulent charges because we still don't have chip reader. Become an expert before you buy.

There are way too many glitches that make us waste so much time every time.
A lot of times the ticket numbers go missing. Not even shown in the back office.
Contacting the customer support, they don't have an attitude, neither do they have a clue or solution to the problem.
They say no one else is having THAT problem, but I doubt it.
Easy to use.
Can get a good datum in the back office.
Poor customer support. Poor engineering.
Use it if you have a lot of time to waste on contacting them to resolve issues.

I love everything about NCR Silver except more features such as layaway or special orders would be nice. In today's economy customers don't always have the immediate funds to purchase higher end items and without a layaway feature it's very hard to meet their needs.
I love the ease of stocking in new merchandise. It is the easiest system I have ever used when it comes to that.
The lack of layaway or house account options.
For a new business, if you are selling products directly off your shelf, you won't find a better system. It makes keeping up with inventory a breeze. The assistance it offers for scheduling and payroll is wonderful.

POS system seemed easy to use and get the hang of. Adding inventory was simple and creating the main POS screen was a quick process.
Lied about e-commerce capability, no account services or layaway. When asked to for reduced payout of contract they will not budge and are just looking to get people in a contract and get paid. Even after buying additional items as an additional wasted expense that cannot be returned.
Make sure you not only ask to make sure the system is capable of what you want. Go through everything in trials before buying into the cheaper year term contract. My suggestion is pay the little extra to be able to cancel at any time because most likely you will.

I like the simplicity of the system. Using an iPad is convenient and doesn't take up much room on our counter and it's portable. I also like the option of paying on a month to month basis, not being tied to a long contract.
The reporting, especially for the sales related inventory portion, is not as in-depth as I'd like. I would like to be able to pull a report of the items sold by vendor name as well as be able to look at a specific item and know it's detailed sales history.
Make sure you have a good idea of what kinds of things you're looking for in a system- reporting features, special features (i.e. do you want to use layaway, do you sell items on consignment). Know how much you're able to spend on equipment, definitely use the trial feature, and be realistic about whether you think it will work for your specific business.

They are an awful company. Their support system is a disaster. I don't know how many times I called NCR Silver for support and get a recording "hello we are experiencing an extremely high call volume. We will get back to you..." IF they get back to you it's hours later when customers have already left because we could not complete our transaction.
When my system was first set up, it was set up improperly based upon their support set up. After it was up and running it caused many delays where we could not input customers information and finalize the sale. So often, we received an error message "that item already exists and must create a new ticket" We call NCR Silver and was advised to proceed in an incorrect manner where the issues were never resolved. AFTER 3 YEARS OF THIS NONSENSE, It took my representative to resolve the issue after numerous hours on the telephone.
After all this, I asked for a partial credit to my account as they were responsible for the horrible software program. First, a manager would not even talk to me and flat out refused any credit. Then I asked for her manager. He did not even reply back to me.
This company is supposed to be a publicly traded company. Their program is horrible and customer support is equal par. HORRIBLE!!!! Ger professional NCR and the managers need to start getting involved with a customer instead of acting like they are holier than thou.....
We really did not like anything about the solftware. It was very difficlut to operate and there are many issues that NCR is not fixing. The multiple steps to complete a customer transaction is too long. They also do not have enough employees where I have wasted large amount of time waiting for their reps.
When we call NCR as the merchant to assist on failures of the software program, they do not respond immediately. Their phone system states, if you want to wait for the next avaiable representative press #2 on the phone. This message is repeated almost every 10 seconds. This is very difficult and discouraging.... Of course I want to wait for a representative... Do I have a choice????
Get a real software program where customer do not have to lose business.

When Apple does an OSX update, this system practically shuts down. The bluetoothing from ipad to printer or drawer doesn't sync any longer. When I called (many times ) NCR they told me it was an Apple issue and they couldn't help me. I don't pay Apple I pay NCR and it is their problem to figure out. I've had so many issues with NCR over a less than 2 year span. That is why I'm on this site looking for another system.
