MediTouch EHR® is a complete electronic health record (EHR) that was designed to be both web-based and offer a touchscreen user interface. As a result, the product is highly differentiated and easy-to-use. The core EHR offers functionality for charting, problem lists, medication management, electronic prescribing, allergy checks, order management, lab tests and document management, among other capabilities. The system can also be configured to meet a provider’s personal charting preferences and custom forms can be implemented to work with MediTouch’s touchscreen technology. MediTouch EHR can be deployed standalone or in conjunction with HealthFusion’s practice management system. The complete system is certified by an ONC-ATCB to meet the meaningful use criteria for ARRA stimulus funds.

When HealthFusion set about designing its own EHR, the company decided to focus on designing a system that was revolutionary in its simplicity. Because the system is entirely web-based and hosted by HealthFusion, customers do not need to install or maintain any software on-premise. Users simply log in and access the system through a web browser on any Windows or Apple computer. Fans of Apple iPads will be especially attracted to the system as it was designed with this popular new device in mind. MediTouch software for iPad, also the fastest iPad EHR, is completely web-based.

HealthFusion prices the MediTouch EHR® on a pay-per-provider, monthly subscription. The monthly subscription fees include all customer support and training services. All support is provided domestically by full-time HealthFusion employees.

Billing and posting prospective only

Ease-of-use

Again, it's a very logical program once it is learned and practiced. But it takes time just to learn the different lingo and steps involved to get your result.

Functionality

The program meets our needs in all areas except for month-end reporting. We are several doctors practicing under one tax ID, and the reporting measures in this situation are limited.

Product Quality

They are constantly doing updates and trying to accommodate the needs of the user.

Customer Support

Most of the customer support staff are patient and helpful. There have been a few clunkers in the past, but as of late, the staff has been great!

Likes Best

Billing is great if the claims generate automatically from the EHR side. Also, rejections and denials make it easy to work our ARs.

Likes Least

A new claim is created with every correction. That makes for a few extra steps when posting insurance payments, especially if payments have to be moved from claim to a resubmitted claim, and then corrected and reversed. This is not hard, but it is time consuming.

Recommendations

Be sure to allow time for training. It's a lot to comprehend all at once, and really the best way to learn is by addressing issues and questions as they come up in the office. So allowing time for employees to call or email the vendor - and then allowing these same employees to share with others in the office - is essential.

Ease-of-use

It's actually pretty easy to use and is very basic. I've had no problems with learning how to use the program.

Functionality

It makes the diabetes side of the clinic pretty fast to pass patients and pretty organized to keep track of dates of days things where done.

Product Quality

Other than it freezing and slowing down its pretty good.

Customer Support

I haven't really used it much, but from what I hear, they seem to be friendly and very helpful to our company's problems and needs.

Its easy to use. I learned pretty fast on it. Scanning information into patient's files is very organized.

It freezes a lot. There have been times where I had to exit out and log back in in order for it to work again.

Be very patient with the system. It's easy to understand. Things on it are very basic and easy to catch on to when learning to use it.

I like the big buttons to press for everything. It is easy to find patients' charts.

It's easy to use as data input and file uploads. If it only worked properly all the time, I would not complain.

Functionality

It does not function correctly when trying work with patients. The EMR tends to freeze when trying to view files.

I think the product just needs to be touched up a bit more.

They need better troubleshooting instead of just informing the customer that it will be taken care of.

Good Softeware

Ease-of-use

It's simple to learn how to use everything. However, it is annoying to change back and forth from EHR to practice management. It would be easier if we could see the next appointment and insurance information in the EHR.

Functionality

This system is easy to use, but i wish there was more information in the EHR that was in practice management.

I feel the quality is good, but they should try to do updates over the weekend, because a lot of the time we run into problems where Health Fusion wouldn't work for a whole day and it backs our job up.

It easy to get in contact with someone about issues we experience with this software.

I like the messages from patients. However, I don't like that if two people get a message once its completed and deleted, the other person can still see the message

There should be more room for actual nursing notes, and I wish some things did not have to be customized, such as in the care plan.

It is hard sometimes to fix a mistake once you have posted it.

It is difficult to know where to post some things, because we have multiple doctors here.

Weekly use during clinic.

Ease-of-use

The way it is designed makes this so easy to use. With minimal training, it is easy to figure out how to enter info into various sections or how to use each section.

It meets my clinical documentation needs. I am able to enter vital signs and other clinical info at each encounter. I am able to record and verify the patient's personal info for billing purposes.

It is very well-designed. The tabs are labeled well. The sections are easy to find and maneuver through.

I have not has to use customer support. I know my colleagues have used them and they were pretty satisfied.

Switched from Greenway Medical after three years

Ease-of-use

Training was easy. Adjustments and changes on the go are easy to accomplish, and all that translates in less time spent on EHR every day.

Functionality

It meets our needs well. Someone has listened to MD needs as they have designed the system.

Product Quality

It's cloud-based. Over the past 12 months, we've had no issues. Simply, it works. It requires few clicks, is easy to navigate, and has all the gimmicks for MU.

Customer Support

They are responsive and reachable, and they deliver solutions to problems.

It's easy to use, functional, customizable, user-friendly and intuitive. Most importantly, it requires fewer clicks and is ICD-10 ready. Both the MD and staff spend less time on a daily basis, and overall, it's a better system compared to many others.

It's not particular to this vendor, but it's still costly, as are many others out there.

I have used few other software products. This is by far the least cumbersome and is much more intuitive than others.

It's easy to use for free texting, but the templates are clunky and not easy to customize.

Functionality

So far, the program is meeting our needs. It is easy to access prior encounters and labs. However, we are not yet meeting Meaningful Use, and constructing templates is very time-consuming and can be counterintuitive.

Product Quality

I wish the EHR would run smoothly on a tablet. I've had problems with the program crashing and freezing when navigating between screens and trying to e-prescribe.

Customer Support

We were provided with a few sessions of live chat (only two of which have been needed), and the company has been very responsive to questions via email.

Likes Best

Overall, I’ve found the MediTouch system to be very user-friendly. The time required to enter an encounter, including free texting the HPI, clicking boxes for the ROS and PE, and free texting the assessment/plan, takes only a few minutes longer than our previous method, dictation. As with any EHR, there is the benefit of having previous encounters, labs, and consults easily accessible. For the most part, the system is self-explanatory. We’ve taken advantage of just two of our three free customer service conference calls.

Likes Least

The main problem seemed to be with using the software on an iPad. Frequently, the program would freeze or close. I’ve had much better success with the EHR on a desktop computer.

Recommendations

Overall, I would recommend this system for use on a desktop but not tablet.
