MediTouch EHR® is a complete electronic health record (EHR) that was designed to be both web-based and offer a touchscreen user interface. As a result, the product is highly differentiated and easy-to-use. The core EHR offers functionality for charting, problem lists, medication management, electronic prescribing, allergy checks, order management, lab tests and document management, among other capabilities. Users simply log in and access the system through a web browser on any Windows or Apple computer. Very good experience with MediTouch!

Once set up, it is quite simple to use and making custom templates is very easy.

The only thing I don't like is not being able to send pictures in my referral letters.

Everything is an easy push of a button, and there is plenty of room to write notes in each chart.

It's good quality with a good reputation. There are many enhancements coming out on a fairly regular basis, which tells us that HealthFusion is listening to the needs of their users and trying to be accommodating.

I like the online chat function. A representative is quick to get back with you if they were unable to correct whatever issue was happening. Everyone is very pleasant.

It's very user-friendly and easy to link documents. It is very nice to be able to access any of the information from any site or home office. It's very easy to switch back and forth from the two different sides. It is helpful to be able to let the patients review their charts and information vs having to contact us for copies of things. I love the EScripts; they are very user-friendly.

I wish it was linked to all the labs we use to get results easier, and it is not connected with the hospital sites.

Every medical office should be going to EHR for HIPAA and recycling issues. This is a great way to do it. We scan every document in, upload it, and then shred it. It's awesome.

I would like to see a better smartphone interface, more ease of use, and tutorials for patient portal use through videos.

Functionality

It's not good for smartphones on the EHR side and chart alerts can't be done on EHR side for PM side and vice versa. My front staff can't make documents patient portal accessible on PM side.

Product Quality

It works the best of all EHRs I've used. When compared to AHLTA in the AF and eClinical, it's much better.

Customer Support

They are always available every time I call. The support is top rate with no complaints.

Beware of the ramp up time

The product is great for an Apple-based touchscreen. With a mouse, it's a bit click-heavy. They have a fair amount of templates, but you have to find them and then ask the vendor to activate them.

Functionality

It's an EMR. We have to have it or the government will penalize us. To be honest, handwritten charts were and still are quicker.

Product Quality

The interface is nice, and the amount of resources on the site is robust. It's just not easy to find all the time with asking customer support.

Customer Support

In general, they are friendly and knowledgeable, although I occasionally get an agent that comes off as if they couldn't care less. And after every interaction, you get an email about a survey of how did they do. It gets annoying if you call a few times in one day.

They do not help you get started. Their tech support consists of telephone helpers and webinars. The product seems robust, but it is not that intuitive without assistance. We had several instances where I found out that something was not working that I was paying. For example, I had been paying for the patient portal for two months, but they said I had to ask them to activate it. The same thing happened with the inbox faxing service I was paying for. After three months of no faxes, I called, and they said they had to attach it to my account for it to work. Why that isn't automatic with me paying for it upfront is beyond me. It only happened after I noticed it wasn't working and brought it to their attention. It should be the other way around, I'm thinking

Recommendations

Invest in some onsite tech support. The implementation team we had was not very helpful, and we had to get an outside company to come in and do an inservice. Thankfully, HealthFusion picked up the first five hours of the cost as an apology for all the issues we came across.

User-Friendly EHR

The touchscreens are easy to navigate, and there is a logical workflow.

Functionality

By utilizing an integrated system, I don't have to deal with exporting or interfacing. Once I add a patient to the system, they are there for charting, billing, eRx etc. I enjoy the efficiency.

Product Quality

I have had very few issues with the software, and when I do, they are willing to accommodate my needs.

Customer Support

The customer support team is always professional and helpful. I do wish they had longer hours so that doctors working in the evening or on weekends could get the support they need, but otherwise, it's top notch.

The entire integrated system is easy to use and can be customized by anyone with moderate computer experience.

There are not a lot of stock templates. It would be nice to be able to browse through a template library and select templates for chief complaints, office procedures, etc.

Recommendations

Evaluate all costs to assess the financial viability. You are getting a lot for one monthly fee with this software, and many other packages seem less expensive because people forget to include all sundry costs.

Becareful if you are a specialist

It took about a week to get the basics down. The overall training is ok; you really have to direct them to let them know your needs, which can be difficult when you don't know the program very well or what it is capable of doing.

Functionality

For basic notes and electronic prescriptions, it is excellent. For procedures done in the office and the ease to create notes, it is awful.

Product Quality

It's good for the basics, but it's not good when it comes to more specific things such as custom notes for procedures (not referring to doing a B12 injection note, but more complex procedures such as ultrasounds and such).

Customer Support

I have had issues with the customer care. I have been dealing with a glitch that is easy to fix (they have admitted this); however, they have not fixed it in almost two months despite the fact it is affecting how I'm signing my daily custom notes. They've heard my complaint a half dozen times and told me they would get back, but they haven't unless I called back. Also, after our basic training, if we have questions that the basic support line can't answer, we have to pay them hourly for support if we want help. Other EMRs have unlimited support regardless for free.

Despite what they tell that the notes are fully customizable, be careful! Be sure that you fully are sure that the EMR will do your kind of custom notes if you use custom notes for procedures in the office. In my particular case, doing custom notes for echos has not been very doable. If you need simple custom notes, however, the EMR does a great job.

Recommendations

Explore other options. Once you choose an EMR, it is very costly and difficult to change to another EMR.

Very few products have the unique combination of having specialty-specific content and being ICD-10 ready, certified, and customizable, as well as having an almost endless list of features.

This software has won many awards and is among the very few that are Stage 2 certified. In addition, this product will have your practice ICD-10 ready.

This company's customer service has won several awards. They are always available and ready to help whenever needed.

This platform is SOAP note driven and utilizes "touch-phrase" technology. While you can type and/or dictate (and even take photos which can also be annotated), you will rarely need to. Upon implementation, the platform is customized to your workflow and not you to the platform. This is significant as it will actually speed up your throughput by allowing you to tap on the screen more rapidly than you could ever type or dictate a note. It really is quite remarkable.

I've been customizing electronic health records for nearly 10 years, and I can honestly say that the MediTouch EHR is the most user-friendly software I've used. The touchphrases make it so easy to comply with all charting and coding requirements. All of the doctors that I work with easily complied with Meaningful Use and received their bonuses.

There isn't much that I don't like. But if I had to come up with something, I would say that occasionally it's a problem when the system is very slow. I also wish that Customer Service opened at 8 am Eastern time. Occasionally, one of the offices will encounter a problem first thing in the morning, and I won't have the resources to assist them if it's something I need help with.

I would recommend comparing this software to others available on the market for accessibility, ease of use, and affordability. The accompanying HealthFusion practice management systems works seamlessly with the EHR which promotes a healthy work flow and improved cycle revenues.

Amazingly Easy and Robust System

This system is very intuitive and very easy to navigate. Common sense is all you need to successfully chart in the system.

We have met all requirements of Stage 2 MU, and we have a 5.0 HETIS and HMO rating since we switched from iSalus Office EMR to MediTouch.

As a HealthFusion trainer, I have had a numerous amount of positive feedback from various providers from different specialties. They really like the customizable templates that this EHR offers, which saves them time with documentation of their electronic encounters. With this system being Meaningful Use Compliant 2014, it eases the mind of the providers and clinical staff of being compliant with all federal regulations that have been implemented over the past few years. The system really prepares you and allows you to become more familiar with the ICD-10 codes that will be in effect come October of this year. Another great feature about this system is that it is extremely user friendly, as I have had providers who have never used an electronic medical record system before in their life and are up and running on HealthFusion without any difficulty. I can't say enough great things about this system.

I am a plastic surgeon and have been more than disappointed with the various menus for SOAP notes. They don't allow any kind of efficient record keeping. Perhaps some day, they will fill this gaping hole of usefulness for certain specialties. Their library of images is unacceptably deficient in its limited scope and poorly rendered figures.
