MediTouch EHR® is a complete electronic health record (EHR) that was designed to be both web-based and offer a touchscreen user interface. As a result, the product is highly differentiated and easy-to-use. The core EHR offers functionality for charting, problem lists, medication management, electronic prescribing, allergy checks, order management, lab tests and document management, among other capabilities. Users simply log in and access the system through a web browser on any Windows or Apple computer. Ease-of-use

There is a learning curve with all software. The layout and design are important and this product has been well-organized.

There are too many places to go to get different information.

The system seems to meet the physicians' needs but from a billing standpoint, it's not user-friendly.

As I stated it's not very user-friendly. I haven't had any training, but I do work on several other systems where training was not necessary due to the user-friendliness of the program.

We see a lot of delays and slowness with the system. Billing is not always user-friendly.

When we first switched to Health Fusion,s the customer service was poor. However, the customer service has been excellent recently. They are very professional and helpful.

I think the quality is good. The fonts and color options are helpful when looking at a screen all day.

Customer Support

Customer support is surely a strong point. Help is just a phone call away and all the people speak English well.

I like that it has multiple ways of accomplishing a task. I'm also very pleased with the customer service department. Color-coding is also a plus when viewing the screen.

I don't like that the chart note appears at the bottom of the screen in the practice management section. I also find it difficult to do reports. I am hoping that in the future the process to send to a tertiary insurance will improve.

Recommendations

Try it before deciding, because you won't want to have to reenter info in a new program if you are not happy.

MY EXPERIENCE USING HEALTH FUSION

Ease-of-use

It's difficult in the beginning. As I've said earlier, with a little trial and error, a few phone calls, and a few chats, it's actually easy peasy.

Functionality

I'm told from our accounting offic, that the generated reports don't give us a true accounting as to CPT codes billed/collected per insurance. This has created a problem in an office with multiple doctors all practicing under the same tax ID.

Product Quality

It is evolving, so the updates have been very beneficial. I'm still hoping "tertiary" will be added as a possible option in the drop-down of the write off box.

Customer Support

They are always helpful and kind. They are always patient to train on new issues.

Likes Best

HF customer service is always very kind and knowledgeable. If something is unknown to them, they will research the issue to find a solution. Also, I enjoy the posting. It's a little difficult in the beginning, but once it is familiar, it is very efficient and easy to work with.

I didn't like the training videos we viewed when we first started using HF. They were grainy and difficult to see. Also, we found missed steps that were discovered after errors were made. I really wish there had been a manual that we could download so that we could look up "How to's" on a step by step, needed basis.

Recommendations

We have found very little that can't be reversed on the posting end of this problem. Don't be afraid to try something just so you can see how it pans out. Be cautious to always check your work, balances, credits, etc. to be sure that you've done things correctly. If not then "void" and try again.

Great System Overall

Ease-of-use

It took me no time to learn the system. The implementation and customer service team are great!

Functionality

There could be more customization available in EHR and PM. My MD complains that some of the terms and questions under chief complaint are written for the level of a 1st year graduate. He gets frustrated when searching for a medical term, but the system has it in laymen's terms. Also, the reporting is good, but a reporting module that allows the person to pick the fields and data display would be amazing!

Product Quality

It's a great easy to work with product overall! We are glad we found it.

Customer Support

They are always polite and helpful. When they cannot help they will open tickets at a higher level for you.

Ease-of-use

It's pretty easy to figure out. When there are exceptions, the Health Fusion customer service is a great resource.

Functionality

This product meets my needs. I love to bill electronically.

Product Quality

It's well-designed and intuitive. As I am new to Medical Billing, I find the secondary auto-fill very useful! However, there are some Medicare secondaries that auto-populate incorrectly.

Customer Support

They have the absolute best customer support I have ever come across!

I like that this product is simple to use and that if I ever have issues, the customer service team is excellent. I like that the product is intuitive and that it auto-populates for Secondary payments.

In ERAs when I set a claim to "Queue for Review" in the charts, the claim is set to finalized. I would prefer it to be set to "pending" or "under review." I also wish Workers Comp could be submitted electronically, but I don't think that is the products fault, it's worker comp.

EHR that Works Well With Any Practice

Ease-of-use

This system is incredibly user-friendly, especially if you take the time out to customize it before your go-live date.

Functionality

This product has helped the workflow of our billers in our company and has saved time when line item posting payments. You can setup templates and save them so that you don't have to post the same CPT code over and over again. This system allows you to create templates in which you have the ability to change it as needed. Our billing staff loves this system!

Product Quality

HealthFusion is a cloud based system and our employees including myself love the fact that we can access this system on our laptop or iPad wherever we go, as long as we have a internet connection. This is especially important, because I travel a lot.

Customer Support

Everyone that I have ever dealt with at HealthFusion's customer support has always been extremely helpful with finding a solution to my question and/or concern.

The ease of use with the clinical and practice management side of the system makes it beneficial to any provider specialty. You can customize the system to your liking so that it works for the workflow of your practice.

Recommendations

Make sure that you find a system that is up-to-date on all Meaningful Use Measures. I know for a fact that HealthFusion is compliant with all Meaningful Use Measures for both Stage 1 and Stage 2.

Healthfusion Meditouch has the best customer service anywhere!

Ease-of-use

I give it a ten. The ease of use is the reason we went with this system to begin with!

Functionality

I have not found an area that we have had any issues with. I informed the programmers that we would like documents that are scanned to be able to be put in folders. Now they are in date order which is great, but our provider asked for this to be considered.

Product Quality

I have not found anything less than superior. The practice management is easy to use, the e-prescribing is great and Labcorp labs were integrated easily into the system. We have not started using the patient portal yet, so I can't say how that will work yet.

Customer Support

They are awesome! Customer support is always helpful, skilled, and patient!

It has been quite user-friendly, but the best thing of all is the customer service I receive. They are extremely patient, calmly explaining exactly how it works and the easiest way to accomplish whatever I need to do. That is a true blessing! I have had different experiences with other companies.

I haven't had a negative experience yet. I have only had the EMR for five months.

Recommendations

There are other options, but remember to consider the practice management side along with the provider entry. Also, remember to make sure the system you look at will be ready for changes (for an example, ICD-10). Healthfusion stays on top of changes and keeps everyone well-informed.

For our staff, the only thing is finding the time to take the training sessions and to improve our understanding of how the different parts interrelate, ensuring that we are being most efficient.

Functionality

I know that there is more about this system that I need to learn and understand. I'm aware of only one issue that our nursing staff would like fixed. We actually provide a limited number of products by prescription through the office, but there is no way for these to be entered. It has been explained to me that we have to send the prescription out, and since we are the prescriber, we would have to send it to ourself, and we have not figured out anyway for this to work with the current software.

Product Quality

I have limited experience with other EHR systems, but I have worked with many other sets of software, and I find this product to have a high level of dependable quality.

Customer Support

Their customer support staff is excellent. They listen carefully. Most seem to have an excellent grasp of the complexities of the software and are very articulate in walking through the necessary steps to resolve or educate the user.

Other than when the system is slow, the most difficult time for our office is when the system goes down, as everything we now do is linked through this software. It is a real hardship for the entire office, when none of our usual tasks can be completed, as we end up having to re-do many activities.

Since this is a very integrated system, working with other methods of communication, it is important that you ensure that your IT support staff are in on the process from the very beginning.

It is not specific to our specialty. We have to customize everything and there is no patient information for us to print.

It's not derm specific, and at this stage we need derm specific.

It's well-designed, but requires too many clicks and to0 much typing. Nothing is pre-populated.

Customer Support

I have had to utilize the customer support a lot and some of my frustration on this MU could have been a lot less time consuming had the CS rep been more knowledgeable and willing to explain more in depth my question. I spoke with customer support today and our rep was the first one (in 4 yrs of HF) that actually took the time to go into detail on what I needed to do to pass a measure. I was so impressed with our rep. The others have been nice and helpful but nothing like rep I spoke with today. He actually went the extra mile for me in a critical time and I appreciate it so much. He was so knowledgeable and did not make me feel like an idiot.

Get software specific to your specialty. I have found that software designed specific to Dermatology has all the patient literature and more of the information already to click on instead of having to customize everything yourself.

Ask for customizing individual templates. Ask about the Patient Portal. Ask for signature pads, which enable patients to sign consent forms.

The best tool in my toolkit.

Ease-of-use

I own a medical billing business, and we support platforms other than MediTouch as well. Of everything we've tried, this is by far our favorite platform. It seems like they have figured out the simplest way to accomplish most any job, and the system is flexible enough to be configured for any specialty.

Functionality

I wish more of my prospective clients had heard of MediTouch, but that's a marketing issue. Functionality is everything it should be.

Product Quality

I think we've had the minimum of downtime, and issues that arise are generally following software updates. When there is an issue, it is rapidly addressed and resolved.

Customer Support

The customer support is superior to anyone else with whom we work.

The simplicity of operation and speed of processing is outstanding with the software. HealthFusion support is very accessible and does not cost extra. The representatives are patient and well-versed at assisting with any roadblock or entry error you could encounter. I love the rapid access I have to data.

I wish there was a bit less restriction to formatted reports, and I could dump out raw Excel data to work with. I wish I could get more referrals from them for my medical billing business.

Old school paper charts to an EMR

Ease-of-use

Once all the templates have been entered into the system to your liking, the system is fairly easy to use and get used to. It is kind of a pain to jump from the EHR side of the software to the practice management side, but I think that is more of our office's problem, since we are a small office and do a great deal of crossover work for each other.

Functionality

We're still getting used to some of the features and functions, but so far, it has done everything we have asked of it and then some. We're very pleased so far.

Product Quality

The designers really took their time to look at what an office needs to run smoothly - not just the doctor or the staff, but both together. They are always making upgrades to the system when there is an issue that could use some tweaking to make it run better.

Customer Support

I can't really rate Health Fusions customer support because they recommended a really great billing service (e-Professional Technologies) that has been working with us as a transition team. The owner has transitioned many other offices to the MediTouch system and knows her way around the system front and back. If we have an issue, we call her, and she takes care of it for us. In the beginning we were in contact with the Heath Fusion team, and they were very friendly and did seem to work hard to resolve our issues or guide us through things. However, it just became easier for us to call e-Professional since they knew where we were/are in the transition process and could guide us better.

Great for our doctor who hates typing and using a mouse. The ease of the iPad push button design is great. The background work to make them work the way you want to can be very tedious, but in the end, I think it will be well worth it. There are lots of different options when using the scheduling software, so that makes it hard at first, but the options let everyone in the office pick what works best for them, and in the end, we are all still on the same page.

As I have heard with many other programs, sometimes it hard to express with the system what the patient is trying to tell you. I don't think anything works as well as pen to paper when it comes to free open expression, but this is a fairly good second.

Recommendations

Do your homework! Pick a system that is going to complement both your physicians and your staff. Make the software companies do several demos to answer any and all of your questions. Make sure you understand all the aspects of the software - be it practice management, EHR, or both - before you buy anything. If it doesn't feel right, it probably isn't for you.

We're excited to be moving to a technologically progressive system!

Ease-of-use

Our leaders have figured out most of the functionality without any training. You just have to be brave enough to try things and navigate around and around. In addition, all features of the system and customization work similarly. Therefore, once you know how to do something in one area it is easy to figure out how it works in another area.

Functionality

I will be better able to provide a thorough report after we are using the system live for a few weeks. We plan to go live on October 1, 2014 and so far, it seems that the system will meet our expectations.

Product Quality

It seems well-designed and technically progressive. It is obvious that it is meant to be user-friendly.

Customer Support

All departments of this vendor are very responsive. From sales, payor enrollment, implementation and data conversion, all have been very helpful.

Although we are still currently in the implementation stage, I must say that the responsiveness of the team at Healthfusion has been great. They answer our phone calls and emails very promptly. They continually get us back on track and we feel that we will be able to go live quite successfully without too much pain. They are already ICD-10 ready and Meaningful Use, Stage 2 certified for 2014!

I think they could have streamlined the system for pediatrics a bit better than they did. It is obvious that our version is meant for adult care as well as pediatrics, so we are doing a lot of customizing and removing items that have nothing to do with children.

I would recommend that anyone evaluating a new EMR narrow down their search to 4-5 finalists and then conduct live demos. Make a list of important characteristics or functionality and ask the same questions of each system. Compare, compare and compare some more! Check reviews and ask for live references.
