MediTouch EHR Software


 

HealthFusion offers MediTouch EHR and MediTouch PM, a suite of electronic health records and practice management tools that were designed to be web-based and offer a touchscreen user interface.

The EHR offers charting, problem lists, medication management, electronic prescribing, allergy checks, order management, lab tests and document management, among other capabilities. The system can be configured to meet a provider’s charting preferences; custom forms can be implemented to work with MediTouch’s touchscreen technology. 

The EHR can be deployed standalone or in conjunction with HealthFusion’s practice management system, which automatically checks patients’ insurance eligibility 72 hours before appointments, and will store payer contracts within the system so that billers can verify terms and requirements. An online ERA service allows users to automatically post and download EOBs.

Because the system is web-based and hosted by HealthFusion, customers do not need to install or maintain any software on-premise. The system can be accessed through a web browser, and is designed to work natively on iPads and iPad Minis.

MediTouch is priced on a pay-per-provider, monthly subscription. The subscription fees include domestic customer support and training services.

Doctor is happy with the electronic health records but the administrative side is the worst I have ever used.

Cons

Very inflexible on the financial side. when a mistake is made, sometimes, there are many steps to correct the mistakes. For example, refunding a credit card payment, if a mistake is made is impossible. Applying payments is also very cumbersome. The worse thing is a receipt with all the charges can not be printed for a patient until the claim has been submitted to the ins and the patient's payment is applied.

MediTouch so far is very user friendly. Go to meeting training is OK. They have many templates to chose from.

Cons

Having problems with the data migration, but they are working on getting that fixed. The trainer talks very fast and only wants to do 1 session for each thing so the ones who cannot make it have to rely on the help screens.

EHR side is VERY time consuming for doctors, which leads to a decease in patients. Videos are very vague, they don't consume enough information to learn it on your own. All updates or changes are just given as a message on the home page.

Pros

The only real positive thing I can say is the customer support are very good and usually can fix what's needed.

Cons

Constantly having to click with mouse to switch from area to area in both EHR & Practice Mgmt side, completely waste my time. Doing accounting and NOT being able to use just the keyboard is frustrating since you have to take your hands off keyboard and use the mouse far far to much. If I have a problem and send a ticket for something to get fixed, it takes so long for them to do it that I completely forget what I sent in, so now I have to snap shot the page to keep as a reminder. Even if it's super important and you ask them to call you back as soon as it's fixed THEY NEVER CALL BACK.

Meditouch software has made my practice so much easier to navigate thru. We had trouble in the beginning getting everyone trained but the customer service and reps made our change much easier. Once every staff member was onboard with the change the office runs much smoother we can find clients records easier. Previous records are easy to download and link into a clients chart. As a manager I love that I can connect my billing right into the system. My ordering process is so much easier now to I can keep track of pill counts and med inquiries. We would absolutely recommend Meditouch to any office out there.

We recently changed the software to Meditouch. We are still in transition, however, it's been smooth. We had some issues with integration from our LIS (laboratory information system) but Healthfusion's Integration team was great in getting it fixed.

Pros

customer support - easy to contact, do not have to create "tickets," friendly
vendors - do not need separate clearinghouse or separate vendor for patient statements. Can perform all duties in one shot
Billing - denial defender is a great tool and helps submit clean claims
Auto Posts - great for practices with minimal coding
Reports - very user friendly and accurate

Cons

Payment Posting - not very friendly, need to "void" payments rather than correct
ERA - system misses many payments, which we then have to post manually

We are very happy we decided to replace our earlier EMR with MediTouch. This switch required the complicated task of data migration in addition to all other issues involved in implementing a new EMR. The data migration was not easy and required many iterations as expected but generally theswitch was smooth.

Customer service as it relates to resolving quick issues could be better. Waiting times on the phone is long and needs to shorten. Also staff answering such calls are at entry level and should be better trained.

Meditouch does a great job advertising and seeming attractive. However they have very poor customer support, The implementation process was as disorganized and fragmented as one can imagine. They definitely try to nickel and dime you for every single thing you might want (including outrageous costs to any lab you want to interface with). It took countless hours to get set up because very little is done by the company, most are expected to be done by the client. The software itself is adequate but definitely not impressive. I was previously with practice fusion and feel that it is a much better software. The PM/billing portion is better than the EHR, but I wish I would've gone with something else.

Meditouch EHR in a Interventional Pain Clinic

This is one of the few EHRs that actually turn out looking like a medical note rather than a list after list of repetitive data that is hard to follow and actually see what is going on with the patient and what they are taking for current medications. The note is constructed in the SOAP format so that it is easy to follow. The platform allows customization for office/ASC procedures that are easy to setup after initial orientation and it also allows for multiple options for physical findings in the exam. Care360 is similar in that it is a SOAP note format, but doesn't have a billing component built in and requires Kareo or another billing program that doesn't marry to the EHR easily.

Pros

Customization, Readability of completed notes, no confusion on problem lists, medication lists, etc. No laundry list after list after list causing you to wonder "where's the meat" of this note that will tell me what's going on.

Cons

There is a lot of data on the page so it is sometimes hard to read everything on a standard iPad. At my age, I should probably use a "Pro" sized iPad. Other than that, not much.

Any software you consider, you should get a demonstration and you should be allowed the opportunity to ask all the questions you need in order to see how it would fit into your specialty

Not what we were hoping for

We have about eight months into this software and are still struggling with very basic issues such as claims not making it to the carrier and reports not functioning to our (or our clients') level of expectation. I cannot report on many fields in the system and despite being told in the beginning that their reporting tool was being enhanced and we could report on individual fields, and spend additional money to export data so we could create our own reports.
Clients are increasingly frustrated with inability to get eligibility checks on many of their common carriers and to get anything much beyond just confirmation of coverage (not outline of actual benefits, etc.) Collections module is clunky and we have not found it to be effective.
On the upside, claims entry is fairly simple, and auto posting is a breeze, as is data entry of patient information.

Pros

Autoposting is fantastic. We find it does it correctly close to 100% of the time. When the system cannot effectively autopost, it "flags" the RA so that you can address it individually. When we initially converted, we found that importing patient demographics was refreshingly simple and something we could do on our own without additional costs.
Patient demographics are easy to enter and maintain.

Cons

Reporting is completely ineffective. Canned reports don't balance against each other, and it's hard to quantify values. Not much assistance from Customer Service, although they do try to be helpful.
EDI process has been nothing short of challenging. From enrollment issues in the beginning to claims submission and follow-up issues, we are finding as we work AR several months later we're still having issues with some of our claims from early on which can't seem to arrive at the payer, despite acceptance confirmation from Healthfusion/ENS. It's costing us hours of time on the phone and lost productivity. We also cannot actually see the acceptance reports and are told we can't have access to those because they're in larger batches, which again creates additional phone calls and work on our part.

Advice to Others

Regardless of feeling like we did fairly responsible research on our part, we ran into a number of issues for which we were not prepared. Put potential vendors through challenging scenarios you have in your current system and have them explain how they would resolve them. Even then, watch carefully once you change to make sure you're getting what you were promised. If you're able, roll over one client at a time (if you have multiple) so you can ensure everything works as promised and works productively before you move your entire book of business.

Wow. Where to start! You can't add addendums. You can't preview incoming faxes so you have to open the entire fax and then enlarge it just to read it. You can't fax out XPS documents. If you e-rx a med a few days early, you can't change the date on the rx. You can't free text the e-rx's so if you have any tapered directions you have to call the men in. If you are not in the note when you e-rx a med, you can't add it later to the Plan. The templates are very frustrating to use when you have to change the verbiage because the system will frequently delete the entire verbiage if you click the wrong button. The billing system is a nightmare. Not intuitive at all. Very complicated. It is also very difficult to move around in the EMR because again, if you click the wrong button, you are suddenly out of the pt's medical chart and into the pt's financial chart and then you have to click 3 times and search again for the pt's chart just to get back to the pt's chart. And if you had several other pt's charts open when you made that mistake, they all get closed as well. SO, IT IS A TERRIBLE EMR. The worst I've ever used by far. I have trained for 40 hours on this thing and it's still difficult and slow moving around in it and I'm working on a PhD! The worst part is that they are holding me to a year long contract that says I will pay them even if I stop using it. That should have been my first clue to RUN AWAY!!! And that it took them 6 months to get my fax, lab, and insurances loaded!!!

The fact that I can e-rx scheduled meds and the ease of refilling any meds once they are documented.

Cons

Way, way too many clicks to accomplish what you want AND the fact that you can't access the patient's financial info from the EHR. So you have to "jump the fence"back and forth if you're in an actual chart and want to look at their insurance or other financial info. So, again, way way too many clicks! I hate it! And it has a LOT of glitches so the billing has been a nightmare. Definitely not worth the monthly fee for so much hassle.

Our data migration ran three months behind schedule. The tech team promised us but could not deliver. We had to pay thousands to outside technicians to manage the project.

Training terrible...you have to work through tutorials. Trainers would not give you time and help you need. I was told only two sessions are allowed ..which barely scratched the surface.

It is hard to maneuver. Lot of glitches.. too many to list

I have personally used MediTouch EMR in the past. MediTouch EMR is a much better product today than it was when it first came out. The MediTouch EMR connects with almost 200 labs across the United States and works very well today. The system lets you send orders electronically to a lab and receive results back through the system directly. The product has an integrated practice management software to give you a full suite of medical software services. The patient has the convenience of using the patient portal to view their medical information (including lab results), request refills for prescriptions, schedule appointments and message you directly using an HIPAA-compliant messaging tool.

Pros

The mobile app gives you multiple ways to chart: You can dictate, type or use the native touchscreen if you like.

Cons

The app only supports iOS. You can't use it on tablets that use the Android platform.

Meditouch is a great software that gives you an entire suite of products at a reasonable price. I mainly use the billing software which has its own integrated clearinghouse. This helps increase acceptance rates with insurance companies and offers immediate feed back on submitted claims. It is a great software and would recommend any practice to check out the free demo.

This program is easy to use, customizable, and the Engineers update it frequently. If there is a question about anything in the program, Customer Support is easy to contact and almost always find the solution rapidly.

Pros

Very easy to use once the setup is done. Setup is customizable to your field which will take some time and effort, but the program can be used almost immediately.

Overall the system is wonderful but there are some small things that make it difficult. For example our practice uses a workaround to get a list of open encounters.

Pros

It's easy to use and has little downtime. It also seems to be a very secure and HIPAA compliant system.

Cons

There are some reporting features that don't exist and others that lack some of the functionality we would like.

I have been working with Medi touch for more than 2 years, it is the easiest software i have ever used! I really recommend it. Easy to navigate around.

Pros

What I like the most is that i can easily upload documents into the proper charts, very easy and simple to input information.

Cons

There's really nothing that i do not like about the software. It is the easiest i have ever worked with.

I have enjoyed using MediTouch EHR. It is very customizable and I am still finding ways to customize for my office and be more efficient. I enjoy it being web-based so I do not have to remote in anywhere and I have enjoyed adding the Siri dictation to some notes. The e-prescribing of controlled substances is awesome and many of my colleagues don't believe it exists because the either do not have an EHR or their EHR does not support it. Transitioning to ICD-10 was very smooth and I appreciate their customer service.

Cons

I don't want some default settings (like pre-printing my DEA number on all prescriptions). I would rather hand write it. Not as big of a deal now that I e-prescribe.

This was our office's forst EMR and we were quite pleased. The built in care plans were amazing, as were the pediatric templates. Looking up prior info was quite easy.

Pros

Access anywhere, price, comprehensive

Cons

Would like to be able to navigate btwn EHR and practice management side more easily, a little slower with the iPad.

I really like MediTouch. I chose it because it was initially a billing company and the billing side is very good...we all know if you can't get paid it doesn't matter how good your EMR is. Aside from that, it is an iPad native system and is very user friendly. The staff have been quick to respond to suggestions and updates are automatically installed. No EMR is perfect just as no man is perfect but the MediTouch team seems to be always working on improving the product.

My office had been through 2 EMR system before finding Medi Touch.This EMR is very user friendly .The patients chart is layed out in a way that everything is so simple to see and locate .I highly recommend Medi Touch to anyone whi is looking for a simple but great EMR.I have 2 physicians and a NP, all who think this is the EMR to have.They are also very fast to respond with any issue that we have .
