MediTouch EHR® is a complete electronic health record (EHR) that was designed to be both web-based and offer a touchscreen user interface. As a result, the product is highly differentiated and easy-to-use. The core EHR offers functionality for charting, problem lists, medication management, electronic prescribing, allergy checks, order management, lab tests and document management, among other capabilities. The system can also be configured to meet a provider’s personal charting preferences and custom forms can be implemented to work with MediTouch’s touchscreen technology. MediTouch EHR can be deployed standalone or in conjunction with HealthFusion’s practice management system. The complete system is certified by an ONC-ATCB to meet the meaningful use criteria for ARRA stimulus funds.

When HealthFusion set about designing its own EHR, the company decided to focus on designing a system that was revolutionary in its simplicity. Because the system is entirely web-based and hosted by HealthFusion, customers do not need to install or maintain any software on-premise. Users simply log in and access the system through a web browser on any Windows or Apple computer. Fans of Apple iPads will be especially attracted to the system as it was designed with this popular new device in mind. MediTouch software for iPad, also the fastest iPad EHR, is completely web-based.

HealthFusion prices the MediTouch EHR® on a pay-per-provider, monthly subscription. The monthly subscription fees include all customer support and training services. All support is provided domestically by full-time HealthFusion employees.

I feel that it is overall a good product.

Ease-of-use

It is decent, but could be improved. The patient chart screen could be more user-friendly.

It is a decent quality product. I have not used any other 5010 software, so I cannot speak to its ease of use compared to other products.

It is one of the most user-friendly software programs I have used in a while for work.

Functionality

I'm in billing and collections. And let me tell you this program gets me through in a very organized way.

The quality of the program is excellent. It's the best I've used for work purposes.

I enjoy calling them. The hold is never too long. They are very prompt and kind. I never mind calling the customer support team. They help me resolve my issues quickly.

The blue icons let you know you can open something up . I like the different ways you can look up a patient. It's easy to retrieve remits and payments in the EHR/

It helps me post payments correctly, look up remits, and I'm able to resubmit claims that were corrected.

I love the fact that you can verify eligibility on the spot.

Customer service is very friendly and knowledgeable. I've never have a problem with them. They are very well-trained.

Switched from Greenway Medical after three years

Ease-of-use

Training was easy. Adjustments and changes on the go are easy to accomplish, and all that translates in less time spent on EHR every day.

Functionality

It meets our needs well. Someone has listened to MD needs as they have designed the system.

Product Quality

It's cloud-based. Over the past 12 months, we've had no issues. Simply, it works. It requires few clicks, is easy to navigate, and has all the gimmicks for MU.

Customer Support

They are responsive and reachable, and they deliver solutions to problems.

Likes Best

It's easy to use, functional, customizable, user-friendly and intuitive. Most importantly, it requires fewer clicks and is ICD-10 ready. Both the MD and staff spend less time on a daily basis, and overall, it's a better system compared to many others.

It's not particular to this vendor, but it's still costly, as are many others out there.

Recommendations

I have used few other software products. This is by far the least cumbersome and is much more intuitive than others.

It's easy to use for free texting, but the templates are clunky and not easy to customize.

Functionality

So far, the program is meeting our needs. It is easy to access prior encounters and labs. However, we are not yet meeting Meaningful Use, and constructing templates is very time-consuming and can be counterintuitive.

Product Quality

I wish the EHR would run smoothly on a tablet. I've had problems with the program crashing and freezing when navigating between screens and trying to e-prescribe.

Customer Support

We were provided with a few sessions of live chat (only two of which have been needed), and the company has been very responsive to questions via email.

Overall, I’ve found the MediTouch system to be very user-friendly. The time required to enter an encounter, including free texting the HPI, clicking boxes for the ROS and PE, and free texting the assessment/plan, takes only a few minutes longer than our previous method, dictation. As with any EHR, there is the benefit of having previous encounters, labs, and consults easily accessible. For the most part, the system is self-explanatory. We’ve taken advantage of just two of our three free customer service conference calls.

The main problem seemed to be with using the software on an iPad. Frequently, the program would freeze or close. I’ve had much better success with the EHR on a desktop computer.

Recommendations

Overall, I would recommend this system for use on a desktop but not tablet.

Anytime you have a new product, it seems like it will be impossible to learn. Once you get the hang of the system it is user-friendly.

Using an EHR system allows for the work flow of our office to move smoothly. It is also nice that you can work from any computer as long as you have internet.

The product is satisfactory. The only problem that I sometimes experience is the slowness of the program.

I dislike the numerous and complicated steps to make a correction on a payment.

Recommendations

I'd like to make the process to correct a payment easier. There are too many steps to correct a payment and the process to get there is very confusing.
Additionally, having the alert notes on top would alert the user immediately of any important information. Scrolling down to look for any notes is an extra unnecessary step.

Some things are harder to find in the software, like diagnosis, unless you know ICD-9.

The only thing I don't like is that all of the diagnoses aren't right. It took me a little while to figure out it was hypopotassemia instead of hypokalemia. And when I'm putting paper lab orders, for some reason I have to put diagnosis in twice.

Just take your time and get to know the software! Understand it comes with time and patience! We couldn't learn it in a day, and we still are learning daily.

It's a powerful, intuitive system that covers all the bases. We are still going through training, and I'm sure we will have growing pains, but everyone at HealthFusion has been very positive, helpful, and friendly. They have training online that covers everything, and there are daily open chats that allow you to ask any questions you may have.

It would be nice if someone came into our office and did the training in person. I know this isn't possible. Someone can come online through GoToMeeting and show you everything, but until you go on yourself and do it, you really aren't going to learn anything.

Recommendations

I looked at several systems, and they all looked good. Each system had features I liked. But really, once you get into the system, set it up your way, and get comfortable with it, they all will probably perform well. Some features might seem great at first blush, but again, once you are comfortable with it and know your way around, you will navigate it well. I looked at reviews, focusing on support. That steered me away from vendors that had great salespeople but didn't deliver once the product was purchased. I like that MediTouch also does the billing, so I don't have to work with two vendors and potentially have one blaming the other when things aren't working or there is a problem. And then, you have to decide if you want a cloud-based system or a server in your office. There are pros and cons each way. I chose MediTouch partially because it was recommended by our national association.

Everything is labeled clearly, making it easy to navigate within certain sections. The only problem is the separation between the EHR and practice management.

Functionality

The EHR is great for patient care and creating encounters for patients. More insurance information is necessary in the EHR to complete prior authorizations and scheduling appointments with outside practices.

The program is very well-designed and set up perfectly for everyday use.

HealthFusion MediTouch

Ease-of-use

When you run into an issue, you can call and get technical support right away. Customer service walks you through the steps for what you need help with.

Functionality

There's always room for improvement. Having to go back and forth between practice management and the EHR does slow the process of our work that needs to be done.

Product Quality

The quality of this product I would say is good. It allows you to work efficiently. As stated above, there's always room for improvement. Having to switch between screens is a little time consuming.

Customer Support

Anytime we have had technically difficulties and have called customer support, they have been great at taking their time to talk to us and walk us through the proper ways of fixing the problem at hand.

You can drag and drop patients into different appointment slots without having to click the cancel/reschedule option. Also, when entering a "paid on an account" payment, it automatically applies to the balance when put in the appropriate spot.

Likes Least

I don't like how the red alert messages are at the bottom of the patient's chart. It is very easy to miss the message if you do not scroll entirely to the bottom. I feel the message(s) should be at the top of the page, since it is supposed to be an alert.

Ease-of-use

It's very easy. With everything color-coordinated as it is now, if something isn't correct, it is easy to just go back and correct it.

Functionality

It met our needs with all the information we need to acquire for all the patients in Practice Management and MediTouch.

Product Quality

There are a bunch of okay alerts that pop up out of nowhere, and it gets confusing when the office gets busy.

Customer Support

When I call them up with a problem I am having, they do their best to walk through what I am having trouble with, but sometimes, they can be short.

Likes Best

I like how you can just easily drop an appointment to the top right corner, and then when you switch days, you just drag it down to the provider and time. I also like how you can hover over recent patients and click on a previous one instead of typing in their name all over again.

When i go to book appointments on the top part of the screen, there is a huge white empty space for no reason. Then, when I go to scroll down, it automatically switches from the page to the provider schedule and starts scrolling down when I just want the entire page to scroll down.

Recommendations

Let the companies looking at the product do a month trial period instead of purchasing it right away and not knowing if they even like it or not.

MediTouch has made a huge difference in our practice revenue and profit. We were very skeptical about bringing on a medical billing company with all the horror stories we have heard from other colleagues. When our employee who was handling our medical billing went on maternity leave, we began to see all the things that were not getting done. The software allows us access via the web, and we love the scheduler. MediTouch is very easy to use and simple and Healthcare Practice Solutions handles all our support for the software. Within a week the Director of Healthcare Practice Solutions traveled to Georgia to do a free practice analysis. We signed up immediately, thinking "What do we have to lose?" It has only been three months and MediTouch has increased our aging by 25%.

You don't have to be computer savvy to work in HealthFusion. It just flows.

Functionality

For the most part, HealthFusion meets all of our needs. However, there are some drawbacks on the billing side.

Product Quality

I think the quality is good. It has big bold letters and is easy to use.

Customer Support

Customer support is top-notch. I can always get an answer to any question. My support team is very knowledgeable. I especially like our rep, who always gets back to me and always has an answer to my question.

HealthFusion is user-friendly. There are no hidden boxes. Everything is usually right there on one screen. It's easy to use.

I find that the reports in HealthFusion are a bit cumbersome. They are difficult to clean up.

Recommendations

I would recommend that anyone looking to purchase an EHR to first have someone use it for the practice and have them make a determination. All the presentations are great. It's not until you have hands-on experience that you know if it's a good fit for your practice.

I have to type a dissertation every time a patient's PE varies from the standard. Other products have boxes you can quickly check and move on.

Functionality

It does not aid in keeping track of items that need to be followed/rechecked at a later date, such as a mammogram every year for women over the age of 40.

Product Quality

It needs to have more checkboxes rather than having to type abnormalities in PE portion.

Customer Support

No one ever seems like they want to help. They seem more interested in getting off the phone and documenting than helping successfully. I've asked them to correct the email address entered by their staff 2.5 years ago because he misspelled Oklahoma. I have been told multiple times that they would, but no one has.

There's not much that I like about MediTouch.

It's too cumbersome and takes too much time to use. It has no step-by-step process in patient care. It doesn't aid in patient care or keep track of items that need to be rechecked periodically.
