MediTouch EHR® is a complete electronic health record (EHR) that was designed to be both web-based and offer a touchscreen user interface. As a result, the product is highly differentiated and easy-to-use. The core EHR offers functionality for charting, problem lists, medication management, electronic prescribing, allergy checks, order management, lab tests and document management, among other capabilities. The system can also be configured to meet a provider’s personal charting preferences and custom forms can be implemented to work with MediTouch’s touchscreen technology. MediTouch EHR can be deployed standalone or in conjunction with HealthFusion’s practice management system. The complete system is certified by an ONC-ATCB to meet the meaningful use criteria for ARRA stimulus funds.

When HealthFusion set about designing its own EHR, the company decided to focus on designing a system that was revolutionary in its simplicity. Because the system is entirely web-based and hosted by HealthFusion, customers do not need to install or maintain any software on-premise. Users simply log in and access the system through a web browser on any Windows or Apple computer. Fans of Apple iPads will be especially attracted to the system as it was designed with this popular new device in mind. MediTouch software for iPad, also the fastest iPad EHR, is completely web-based.

HealthFusion prices the MediTouch EHR® on a pay-per-provider, monthly subscription. The monthly subscription fees include all customer support and training services. All support is provided domestically by full-time HealthFusion employees.

Very user-friendly and good support staff too

Ease-of-use

It's simple to use and you can use it with an iPad. Most screens are large and are self-explanatory. I can take pictures from within the SOAP note too.

Functionality

We did have some problems with the meaningful use. Attestation PQRS was not available for our specialty (only for primary care), so we have to do PQRS via an outside vendor. ERX can get slow during peak hours, but it is a minor problem. You just have to wait a few more seconds, but at times when you are in front of the patient, this seems to be too long.

Product Quality

It's fully integrated software. It's cloud-based, so the data is safer. We do have problems with peak hours doing ERX. Things slow down and we just have to wait.

Customer Support

They have outstanding customer support. Most answers are provided within the same day, and follow up questions are answered well until all problems are resolved.

Likes Best

The implementation process was simple and was the main reason the support staff was there for all of us. The platform for billing was very simple.

It is written for primary care, so I have to customize many steps and templates for our dermatology practice

THE ADVANTAGE TO OUR EMPLOYEES WOULD HAVE BEEN TO HAVE SOMEONE ON SITE DURING THE FIRST WEEK OF GO LIVE. LOOKING BACK ON THE ISSUES WE HAD WOULD HAVE WORKED BETTER FOR THE CLINIC TO HAVE SOMEONE HERE TO GUIDE US THROUGH EVERYTHING THAT HAD TO BE SET UP AND THEN SOMEONE HERE THE FIRST WEEK.

When I call HealthFusion customer service, the representatives are not aware of what the situations are. I feel as if they only read off a screen and do not know how to solve the problem.

The system goes down often. It's very difficult to get accurate billing reports. When calling for a claim status, the insurances usually have complaints about the clearinghouse or they aren't able to view the complete claim.

Again, it's a very logical program once it is learned and practiced. But it takes time just to learn the different lingo and steps involved to get your result.

Functionality

The program meets our needs in all areas except for month-end reporting. We are several doctors practicing under one tax ID, and the reporting measures in this situation are limited.

Product Quality

They are constantly doing updates and trying to accommodate the needs of the user.

Customer Support

Most of the customer support staff are patient and helpful. There have been a few clunkers in the past, but as of late, the staff has been great!

Billing is great if the claims generate automatically from the EHR side. Also, rejections and denials make it easy to work our ARs.

A new claim is created with every correction. That makes for a few extra steps when posting insurance payments, especially if payments have to be moved from claim to a resubmitted claim, and then corrected and reversed. This is not hard, but it is time consuming.

Recommendations

Be sure to allow time for training. It's a lot to comprehend all at once, and really the best way to learn is by addressing issues and questions as they come up in the office. So allowing time for employees to call or email the vendor - and then allowing these same employees to share with others in the office - is essential.

It's actually pretty easy to use and is very basic. I've had no problems with learning how to use the program.

Functionality

It makes the diabetes side of the clinic pretty fast to pass patients and pretty organized to keep track of dates of days things where done.

Other than it freezing and slowing down its pretty good.

I haven't really used it much, but from what I hear, they seem to be friendly and very helpful to our company's problems and needs.

Good Softeware

It's simple to learn how to use everything. However, it is annoying to change back and forth from EHR to practice management. It would be easier if we could see the next appointment and insurance information in the EHR.

This system is easy to use, but i wish there was more information in the EHR that was in practice management.

I feel the quality is good, but they should try to do updates over the weekend, because a lot of the time we run into problems where Health Fusion wouldn't work for a whole day and it backs our job up.

I like the messages from patients. However, I don't like that if two people get a message once its completed and deleted, the other person can still see the message
