MacPractice 20/20 Software

MacPractice 20/20 is an on-premise integrated suite of medical software designed for use by small and midsized optometry and ophthalmology practices. It offers an electronic health record (EHR), practice management and patient scheduling applications. The EHR is ONC-ATCB certified, and ideal for practices looking to comply with Meaningful Use requirements.

Features include lab integration, tablet support and a patient portal. Through the patient portal, users can complete patient registration forms online and send messages to health care professionals via a HIPAA-compliant, secure messaging platform.

Native iPad applications are also included with the system. Users can access the EHR via the iEHR app to check patient demographic data and history as well as update the chart with new clinical information. The Check-In app allows patients to check in for appointments using a tablet and submit registration forms.

MacPractice can only be used on Mac operating systems. Version 5 is compatible with Yosemite and iOS8.

This program was obviously written by someone who has never seen what an optometrist has to do. I have to retype in someones prescription 3 times! CL trials do not carry over and the Rx written in one year doesn't carry over to the worn Rx for the next. Everything has to be typed over and over and over and over. Plus it crashes all of the time. And each computer manages to crash in a different place

Pros

Some of the reports are good

Cons

The EMR is horrible and makes everything way harder than it needs to be. Billing and coding is very difficult and requires way more steps than it should.

Advice to Others

Again just stay away. Go with something else. I've used a few different softwares at this point and this is by far the least functional, even when the system isn't crashing all the time.
